As a local business owner myself I always like to support local businesses so hired Grubb Movers. That is when the nightmare began. They ruined so many of my pieces, took the wrong furniture to Habitat for Humanity, and took pieces to David Fair consignment shop. David Fair wrote a letter on my behalf to the court stating that he has never in his 30 years of business seen such disregard for furniture. All of the pieces that were to go to him were totally ruined and could not be sold. In addition there were things that were stolen including two glass top tables, two chaise lounges, a custom bedspread, and clothes. It was disgraceful. I hired an attorney as well as a furniture designer and was able to total approximately $12,000 worth of damage. In the two times we tried to serve him from the court he ran out the back door. He and his business practices are despicable. I will never be able to recover the antiques that were totally ruined. I have been a professional in Troy for over 40 years. I have never reviewed anything on yelp. Everything I say is correct and I am doing it only to spare others the horror I have experienced.

He was punctual to give me an estimate but was not very responsive on follow up. He would routinely text me the day before and want to start the job the next day. He would seem annoyed when I told him that we had conflicts. I texted the owner to see when he would be able to start my job. It took him two weeks to contact me back. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I asked him for copies of his liability and worker's comp insurance certificates. He told me that he carried two million dollars of insurance that covers damage and injured workers. Ohio is a monopolistic state, the only way to buy insurance to cover injured workers is through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. He proceeds to harass me via text message. He cursed me, called me fat, told me that none of his guys wanted to work in my house because it stinks, and threatened me stating that he was in the special forces and fat guys like me didn't scare him. I had to block his number because he kept texting me after telling me to lose his number and not to contact him. I would not hire this guy, he is working without the proper insurance and treats his potential customers like dirt.

They were on site on Friday morning, I asked them specifically if they could install a specific Trane system that I wanted to purchase or if they could get me a better price on their system. I had the exact make/model/price of a unit that they could compare with. They promised me they would write it up both ways and have it to me by the end of the day. I give them all of Friday and Saturday with no response and message them Sunday and Monday to see what's going on and get promised by the end of today again. I was lied to again and had to message them again before they finally sent me a quote on Tuesday. It was only at this time that I was told that they couldn't install the unit I wanted and that their "competitively" priced equivalent unit was over 200% the cost of what I told them I was initially looking at. Their eventual quote for their Goodman system was also 20% more expensive than the carrier system that one of the most reviewed and reputable companies in Dayton/Springfield quoted me. I understand that installing third party systems is not common in the industry which is why it was the first thing I asked. It should not take 5 days of leading me on to tell me they can't do it.

The first time I talked to Sean he was extremely rude to me on the phone. My husband told me to call back in and leave a message about how rude he was. I said in my message, I shudder to think how he would treat others if he was the owner. He did call me back and apologized. I left a couple of more voicemails as well as my husband, asking for a return phone call, but we were ignored. When he did call to check with us about the time for installation, he told me they would be at my home around 10:00 AM the next morning. He arrived with his helper at 9:00 AM, but didn't call to let me know they would be a head of schedule, but instead called to let me know they were waiting outside my back gate and needed to get in. Of course I wasn't quite ready so I had to throw on my clothes and get out there. They worked steady through the day & seemingly did a good job. The real problem occurred when I followed him out to close the back gate. I walked down the deck stairs and on my last step I came down on an uneven pavement walkway. I immediately dropped to the ground, and I had heard my ankle pop and snap. As I rolled around on the ground, holding my ankle and moaning, I knew they were right behind me standing by the truck watching me. They never uttered a word for about a minute, then asked, "Are you going to be ok?" I said after taking a moment to try and compose myself, "I'm not sure, I'm just hoping my ankle isn't broken." I was praying out loud, just asking the Lord to please help it to not be broken. Sean walked around me to go on the deck to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything. I was crawling up the deck stairs hoping I would be able to put weight on my ankle. Still at this point, neither one came to help me, ask if there was anything they could get me before they left or offer to call anyone. Sean said as he did hold the door open for me, "Sorry you busted your ankle. Better put it up and put ice on it. Bye" I would NOT recommend this company purely on that basis. How you treat and respect others has a lot to say about your work ethic. I still can't imagine he is the owner of this business. To add one more thing, he did tell us how to use the thermostat, but said nothing about the filters. My husband had to go down to the basement and look to see if we had them, where they were and how often to change them out. I would have thought since our landlord just paid him nearly $8,000.00, that might have been something he thought was important. Silly me.
