Versailles, Ohio is a quintessential small town. It's clean surroundings and homey buildings are easy to miss if you're passing through town. Hotel Versailles is an outlier here. Its sleek lines and modern structure stand out among the modest buildings that surround it. Every inch of its interior and exterior are detailed in lavish sophistication. We stayed in the Spa Suite- a beautiful, spacious room with a deep soaking tub perfect for relaxing. Snacks, drinks and card games are within easy reach, tempting you from their station on the oversized desk (for a charge, of course). We skipped slipping into our robes and ordering room service and went down to the hotel bar instead. The bar offers a number of handcrafted cocktails, I was so conflicted about which to order that I told the bartender I would just go down the list- and she happily obliged. Dinner hadn't quite started yet so we ordered food from a limited lunch menu and made friends with the bar patrons. After all, it's still a small town and everyone around is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, due to my overly enthusiastic cocktail buffet, I didn't make it to dinner. Luckily, I had a gorgeous room to stumble back to, and when I woke up, the minibar snacks and drinks truly saved my night. I absolutely think you get great value for the price of a stay here. You get the sophistication of a luxury hotel without the steep price and pretentiousness that you'd find at a similar hotel in a bigger city. I can't wait to return! read more

Service excellent, food was quite unique and delicious with multiple layers of flavor!! Most dishes do not come with a side and you must order separately. My wife and I recently had the opportunity to travel to Ohio, and while there we had the pleasure of dining with friends at Silas, located on the corner of Main Street and Center Street. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful -- warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. The food was nothing short of amazing. I ordered the Applewood smoked 22oz ribeye, which was cooked perfectly and packed with incredible flavor. It came with a salad topped with a truly outstanding dressing that complemented the meal perfectly. My wife chose the double smashed cheeseburger, and she couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was -- juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. For dessert, we were lucky enough to try several creations made by Kim Davis, and they were phenomenal. The pecan pie was rich and perfectly balanced, the upside-down cake served with vanilla ice cream and pistachio crumb was both comforting and elevated, and the coffee crème brûlée paired with chocolate ice cream was an unforgettable finish to the evening. Overall, it was an amazing dining experience from start to finish. If you find yourself in Ohio, this is a place you absolutely don't want to miss. read more

My husband and I stayed here one night for the BMI Classic Christian Music Festival knowing that we are usually very tired after a long day and the festival ending late. We were grateful that we chose this hotel for our overnight as the proximity was very close (walking distance if you so desire). The ambiance of the hotel is very impressive: posh, upscale and sophisticated- exactly the kind of thing that thrills me. We arrived at 3:00 which is prior to check in, but the staff graciously allowed us early check in. The staff was warm and we were wished a pleasant stay from a staff member not involved with our check in. Upon first glance, the small lobby hints of opulence and graciousness and that theme is consistent throughout the establishment. The hotel offers thoughtfulness in all of their details from the beautiful furniture and art in the rooms to the sensor foot light on the side of the bed to the room spray that lingered in the air. The aor conditioning had been set at a comfortable temperature and a light had been turned on for our arrival. It is clean, modern and well kept. Everything was pure luxury right down to the refreshing shower and gorgeous scented shower soaps. The water is very hot. We were very impressed by this hotel and would recommend it for an overnight stay. We did not visit the restaurant or bar, but if we were here for other reasons we would like to do so. The only downside is that if you are not in the top floor you will hear every footstep of the lodger above you. My advice would be to request a room on the top level to avoid this. We were kept up until 2 am because the party above us decided to get their steps in before bed and it went on for 3 hours. You will hear an occasional train as the hotel is situated right next to the tracks, but it didnt bother us. Also, the hotel does not offer free breakfast as described in your maps search (maybe they did at one time). Every thing is considered an additional charge so be aware of that. We opted to drive to Greenville for breakfast as there is a wide variety of restaurants and a cute donut shop called Bismarck. Overall, this is a wonderful hotel for a special occasion as it is very expensive. We would stay here again though request a room on the top floor. read more

This restaurant would be a top end restaurant anywhere. We drone to Versailles today just to experience this food based on its great reviews. Those reviews were right. I had pear, smoked blue cheese salad. It had bacon, blue cheese, pears, a bunch of great greens, walnuts and heavenly taste. It was great! Next I had the mussel special. Yup, it's special! They were all sweet and delicious! Served with a meals worth of sautéd veggies and one heavenly broth. I could eat this every day for a month! My wife had the tuna special. Silas restaurant in Hotel Versailles completely exceeded my expectations. My daughter has an allium intolerance which makes eating out almost impossible but she contacted them about menu possibilities. We were able to celebrate her 30th birthday with an amazing meal. Our server, Angie, was so kind and took the time to check on other options. The chefs did all they could to provide her with a great meal. She is usually disappointed by the lack of care from other restaurants but not Silas. I haven't seen her so happy at a restaurant since her intolerance was diagnosed. The roasted Brussel sprouts were delicious and different, my side salad had chunks of pumpkin in it and I was so surprised I liked that since I'm not a pumpkin fan. The desserts were amazing too. I'm not a fan of carrot cake which my daughter got but I snuck a bite and couldn't believe how light and fluffy and perfect it was! Sourcing local ingredients is a plus and the ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful. I'd give them ten stars if I could. This place has heart. read more

So much better than I was expecting, and I expected a lot based on my friend W waxing poetic about this restaurant. Versailles is a cute little town, at least the main street-type section I saw as we drove to the restaurant. It doesn't look like much of an Inn, but they do have rooms (and from what my friend Z told us, they're nicely appointed). The restaurant is nice - I'd recommend you dress up a bit, even though there were people there comfortable in their jeans. Softly lit interior, unobtrusive waitstaff, but nothing stuffy about the place. The menu was surprising, especially when I've more used to eating fried bologna sandwiches and Subway when in the area. I went with a salad off of their special menu, with roasted beets and carrots, a small lettuce wedge, delicious local bacon and a poached egg nestled on top. A gorgeous salad that tasted amazing. This, plus a side of roasted Brussels sprouts that was easily shared with the table, filled me up completely. The salad was around $10, but I easily would have paid an additional $5 for something comparable in one of our nicer Detroit restaurants (say Atlas or 24 Grille). The sprouts were a decent $5-ish. My friends W and Z ordered the pork chop and a pasta dish. Both were decently priced with large portions - I tried a taste of both, and I can say that my salad was not the only delicious dish at the table. read more

The lunch menu at Silas offered a smaller and simpler selection, more in line with expediting table turnover than a dining experience. Tasty? Certainly, and the "local sourcing" makes more sense at their location, 30-40 minutes beyond northern Dayton. From Kettering/Beavercreek, perhaps an equivalent ride to the Cincinnatti market. Tempura-fried wild mushrooms: served in a bowl, on a platter just large enough for the bowl. The large pieces, however, required cutting -- no plate was provided for that obvious purpose. It was enjoyable, and filling. So much so that when my chicken salad sandwich was served I already felt full. I left the plate untouched for a good ten minutes, without a check back. Entry / exit from the semicircular booth table was self-service. Lunch for two was $50 with neither drinks nor dessert. read more

My first visit to Michael Anthony's at the Inn (locally recognized at The Inn), was in 2007 for my senior prom. Flash forward 8 years, my curiosity and a free Friday night visiting my parents in Union City, IN led to our decision to see what the Inn was up to these days. Michael Anthony's is one of the finer (and slightly fancier) options in the area. The menu features pasta dishes, locally sourced ingredients and an impressive menu of sides like brussel sprouts with pancetta and lemon and garlic steamed spinach. We opted to order entrees and split a few of the vegetable side dishes. My boyfriend opted for the pumpkin ravioli served with onions and a maple glaze. Unfortunately, the tough texture of the dough was more like pierogies than ravioli. Had it not been for the off texture, I think this would be a much better dish. I ordered the eggplant parmesan with a side of angel hair pasta in tomato sauce. Both were very delicious. My biggest complaint with nicer establishments in small town/rural areas is their strong desire to mask vegetables in obscene amounts of butter and cheese. Don't get me wrong, I love both of these ingredients but if I'm going to order spinach, it's probably because I want to taste the spinach. The exterior was glowing beautifully in the evening hours as we entered. I'm happy to see this business is still offering something different for those in the surrounding communities. read more

My husband's holiday party for work has been at Michael Anthony's for the past two years, it is phenomenal. For being in the literal middle of nowhere, this place is on par with or better than some of my favorites in downtown Cincinnati and elsewhere. The menu has some great seasonal selections as well as some trustworthy standbys. I'll run down what we had this last time: - Antipasto appetizer for the table. Olives, cheeses, cured meats and a few things you don't often see, like marinated eggplant and something made of figs and almonds. Good stuff and enough for 8 people to each have a few bites. - Complimentary French bread which was warm, fluffy and paired excellently with the herb butter and olive oil dip. - Caesar salad. A classic, but one they do really well. - Filet Mignon, my husband's standby entree. Cooked to a perfect medium with roasted potatoes and the most perfectly savory mushrooms. - Braised lamb over polenta, my pick and one of the autumn specials. The lamb was super tender in a falling apart pot roast kind of way, over peppery, cheesy polenta. The best part of this dish though was actually the shredded Brussels Sprouts with pancetta. Yum!! - And finally, LITERALLY THE BEST CREME BRULEE I HAVE EVER TASTED. Rich, creamy, vibrantly yellow with speckles of vanilla throughout and a generous caramelized sugar crust. My new favorite restaurant ! (sorry Hyde Park Upper Arlington) LOVE that it is fresh, farm to table. (They have their own farm!) Super creative menu that changes as food comes in and out of season. LOVE that much is locally sourced. We shared the charcuterie tray and it was excellent! Especially liked the jalapeño jelly. The salad was fresh from the farm but it was the delightful lemony dressing that made the salad. Scallops and Salmon were cooked perfectly. Now, why would anyone from Cincy area want to visit a restaurant situated in rural Ohio north of Dayton near the town of Greenville OH? I hope by the end of my review, I would convince you guys to make a small road trip to check out the Inn at Versailles. I have been a regular visitor to the tiny village of Versailles as I frequently visit some loved ones in the area who are like family to me. The Inn at Versailles is a historical building and has a wonderful restaurant attached to it. For birthdays, graduations or any special occasion, we always go for dinner to the Inn at Versailles. The restaurant is spacious and the ambiance is very upscale, warm and cozy. They have daily specials, out of which one special is a meat dish cooked on their wood fire grill and then they have a pasta special which features the freshest sea food and fresh pasta cooked in house. The chef Michael Anthony has a variety of dishes in the menu, which will appeal to lovers of Italian food. The restaurant has a well stocked bar and their wine selection from the local winery is very good. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable. You start off your meal with some fresh baked Italian bread, still warm from the oven. The bread is served with delicious garlic and herb butter. I love the fettucine alfredo at the Inn and I have it almost every time I go to there to eat. The entree is served with a choice of soup or salad. The French Onion soup that they serve at the Inn is their specialty... definitely try it. Traditional Italian favorites like Chicken/ Veal Marsala also get a thumbs up from me ! For steak lovers, the Inn serves boston hanger steak, cooked to order on their wood fire grill. I love to wash down my delicious meal with some yummy tiramisu and coffee. The Inn also has a seasonal menu made from items from local farms. Last time I was there, I tried the pan seared chicken that was raised without any hormones in a local farm and was served with roasted winter vegetables and a lemon cream sauce. The chicken dish was very delicious and I definitely recommend it. This is a stop that I try and make every time I am home to visit family. The food is absolutely exquisite. I started going here in high school when it was still located at its Sidney location. However, I must tell you just because it has moved to a location that is off the beaten trail (not that Sidney is far from that) doesn't mean it has lost anything. I will argue that it has only gotten better. The servers are so pleasant and helpful. Patrons can tell when the servers are treated well by their employer because they are happy to be there and are proud of their product. As they should be here because the dishes served here are about as fresh as they come. They get all their produce from a local farm just down the road. Not sure what farm their proteins are from but I am almost certain its nearby. This is an absolute hidden gem! If you are passing nearby DO go out of your way to try it out. Simple, fresh, stunning Italian. I have been living on the East coast in Philadelphia and NY for almost the last ten years and this would go head to head with any top tier restaurant out there. I was fortunate to visit the Inn on a work trip to the area. The Inn is a beautifully decorated modern elegant restaurant. The dishes served reflect tastes from all over the world for any palate. I hope to visit again and take some pictures. There is a statue of a chauffeur near the entrance to the dining room that jumps out at you. I also wish I could capture the smells of the kitchen in a bottle. The Chef, Michael Anthony ,is amazing. He was very friendly and came out to greet our entire table and talk about his history in Cleveland and how he came to be apart of the Inn. All the vegetables are grown locally in the area and used in meals cooked fresh from scratch. The waitress we had was splendid. She knew everything regarding specials, the entire menu as well as beer and wine. They have an assortment of "flights" of drinks for those who are interested. The 10 of us ordered a variety of appetizers from sauteed Mozarella, bruschetta, & anti pasta platter. All were magnificent. The Vegetarian options were plenty and great. I enjoyed Wild Mushroom Ravioli with Braised winter vegetables. This was FANTASTIC. It had an unexpected spicy kick that complemented the rest of my meal and my table's appetizers quite well. The smells here made me salivate into the next morning wanting to go back before departing back home. Unfortunately we did not get to do that. My wife had a dish with their house made sausage and it was some of the best I have had. The Sautéed Mozzarella alla Caprese was excellent. 04/29/2017 We were in the area again tonight and because of the previous visit we returned for dinner. They had a morel mushroom risotto posted with sea bass as one of the chefs specials. I wanted the risotto, but not the sea bass. Our waiter (Marvin) was extra nice and very attentive. Marvin advised that they had a very limited supply of morels, but he checked with the kitchen to see if I could get the morel risotto with any other entree. They told him that due to the very limited supply they could only serve it with the special. I got the special primarily just for the morel risotto. When it was served it contained about three very thinly sliced mushroom pieces for the entire order. The fish filet was very thin and was very overcooked and dry. I was very unsatisfied and normally would have sent it back. The food they served was certainly not worth $36.00. There were numerous tables around us with kids celebrating their prom night. I did not want to ask for the manager and complain about the food. My wife got the roasted chicken with wild mushroom risotto and was very satisfied with her meal. As we were leaving we overheard a man dressed in chefs clothes advising a female customer that they had sold all of the morel mushrooms they could get and they had no more. The food is amazing and the wine is first class. I cannot say enough about the special touches that you find here. They have wine dinners and tastings and an occasional beer tasting/dinner. I have eaten at incredible restaurants around the world and in many major cities in the U.S. Michael Anthony's is World Class in both food and service. It never ceases to amaze me that you can find places like this in small rural cities. I had Filet alla Michael Anthonys, my wife had Ribeye. We both had drinks and desserts and everything was perfect. Not only was the meal excellent, but the Inn itself and the ambiance add a very nice touch to any meal or event.
