I was diagnosed with a Ventral Hernia at the ER who also found two other hernias! The first needed fixing right away. The indicated it would be traditional surgery with mesh. The follow up office, associated with that hospital wasn't available for one week, plus however much time would be needed to schedule the surgery. Dr De La Ossas's staff got me in a few days earlier and there was a cancellation on one of his surgery days so I was back in in a few days to be fixed. He used a laparoscopic procedure and fixed me with very little scarring. I'm coming back to him for the other two as soon as I heal up from this one. Everyone at the Polyclinic was extremely nice, top notch customer service. Friendly, professional. My procedure was delayed an hour, but it was barely noticeable because everyone was so nice. I've only had one other surgery to compare it to at Northwest Hospital, but was a disconcerting and, in the end, botched process. They were professional but not nice. My old doctors were at Virginia Mason and my wife had one procedure there. VM can't seem to bill for anything correctly. So far everything at Polyclinic has been perfect. I know that he genuinely cares about my health and well-being. When I go to see him, I recognize that he is patient centered. He will spend as much time with me as I need, whether that is 5 minutes or 40 minutes. I respect that and often find myself in the waiting room. But that's okay. That's how I know that he gives every patient the same quality of care that he is giving me. I'm don't feel like a patient with Dr. Travis; I feel like a person. I began working with Janna Cuneo as my PCP in 2019 and followed her to Wise Patient Internal Medicine in 2022. She praised the clinic's model. The website promised coordinated care, same-day access, unhurried visits, and expertise in gender medicine. I was rural, disabled, and medically fragile, so I trusted her. That trust harmed me. The decline starting in 2024 was catastrophic. My blood pressure, critical with diabetes and kidney disease, went unmanaged for months. I repeatedly shared logs and asked for adjustments but was told to wait weeks or more. When she was away on one of her many unplanned extended leaves, I messaged her colleague, who immediately recognized and corrected the danger. BP management is basic primary care. Failing to control it shortens my lifespan. Prescription chaos was constant: refills late or wrong, doses increased by 50 percent when we had discussed 10, controlled meds in the wrong formulation and sent to the wrong pharmacy, leaving me without them during flares. In late 2024, I waited weeks for my estrogen refill only to learn she had prescribed unsafe oral progesterone, contraindicated given my family history of clots. These were life-and-death mistakes. In January 2025, I scheduled an appointment to align prescriptions with a new pharmacy and start a prior authorization for a med that keeps me out of the hospital. When I documented errors, she falsified notes with "as we previously discussed" about things we never discussed. At the same time, she blurred boundaries with her constant "friend" routine, using fake intimacy to deflect from the harm. This was manipulative, not care, and it deepened the betrayal. When I escalated to Sam Warren, the clinical director, his response was worse. After Janna no-showed me, he did not hold her accountable. Instead he asked me, a disabled patient in crisis, for advice on "best practices" for running his clinic. When I later formally requested reassignment to a safer clinician with interim coverage, his response was silence. No reply, no acknowledgment, not even basic decency. A clinical director who ignores documented patient harm is complicit in it. The impact was cumulative: unmanaged blood pressure, destabilized hormone care, lapses in critical medications, near hospitalization, wasted energy, and emotional harm from being gaslit by people I trusted. Janna loved to talk about "the system," how broken it was, how she was protecting me from it. The truth is that she was not protecting me at all. She became another cog in the system she criticized, incompetent and dangerous. Sam Warren's silence sealed it. Wise Patient claims all kinds of things. What I lived was chaos and abandonment. If you have or had thyroid cancer, Dr. Davies is NOT an endocrinologist to see. He was not tracking…read moremy health, my medication or labs and his office lost one of my blood labs. I felt off on my dose. He said my blood labs were fine. See you in a year. I pushed back on him. He forgot I had thyroid cancer and I had to remind him. He then realized they were way off and my medicine needed to be increased! Why should I have to remind my endocrinologist about my existing condition???? Dr. Davies actually wrote me three prescriptions in two weeks to improve my TSH levels. First he wrote it for the wrong brand and then he realized he wrote it for too high of a dosage increase. (My pharmacy had to argue with the insurance company to get it filled correctly in such a short period of time. They had to explain it was physician error.) The most disturbing thing was that I learned that he was NOT following the thyroid cancer guidelines for TSH maintenance for thyroid cancer patients- which were updated in 2009. He was keeping me too low- which research shows causes cardio issues and bone loss. I had the guidelines sent to Dr. Davies by the thyca association.to hopefully make him more educated for the care of other patients. So if you have him for thyroid cancer (and you don't want to RUN from his care) - I suggest you educate yourself on the thyca guidelines at thyca.org and track your own labs! I have found a new physician at the polyclinic and I am much happier. My dose of Synthroid makes me feel much better; the physicians are more educated, personable and they have a more buttoned up then his office! They are highly responsive and communicate with my primary care doctor.
