Been going here for years, service has dropped off while prices are sky high. Just paid over $10 to get a pair of pants cleaned, just to put my suit on today and the button was broke in half AGAIN. There is an employee working the counter that is rude and shouldn't be in a customer facing job. The place is expensive. $16 for a sport coat and slacks. Almost $7 for a dress shirt. Dresses were anywhere between $11.18 and $25.52. What were they smoking when they came up with these prices? There are much less expensive options. Avoid this place if you can. read more

Why is technology so difficult for these people?? I frequented the Delavan branch a few times when I lived in Geneva National, since it was closer, and never had any issues there. Now that I live in Lake Geneva, it makes more sense to go to the Geneva branch. I can't believe how miserable of an experience I had! The blonde lady behind the counter CLEARLY despises her job, and has no interest in hiding her feelings about it. When I dropped off my items, the computers were down, so they were not able to pull up my account. Always a scary thing, since that forces you to rely on someone to follow through with, dare I say, a note written on a napkin-like paper. In the hurry I was in, I had to do it and get out of there, being told that I can pick up the items two days later, after 5:00pm. So, in the interest in playing it safe, I called ahead to make sure my items were ready and to ensure they would be open when I got there, and they were, at 6:30PM when I arrived. Then, the worst part of the ordeal arose... The computers were down...AGAIN!! Seriously... So, the lovely blonde employee of the month proceeds to hit the computer, since that always is the way to fix it, and decides that it just isn't going to work. So, she calls the Delavan branch to find my account to determine my total and figure out what tram-slot the items are hooked onto. Now, it occurs to me that they must have a centralized server of sorts, if they are able to access this information elsewhere. Maybe they are technology-efficient!! Nope...it gets worse... When the lady runs my card, it won't go through. First off, she thinks it's my fault, and assumes my card is declining. I happily (I'm lying) explain to her that the card is good, and to try it again. Soon she realizes that it's not going through because the computers are down... Now, I'm smarter than the average drycleaning pickup artist. I know that their internet is down. It's not hard to figure out. They don't have a connection to their server, the card reader won't communicate with the merchant service, and she even said they were "working on it earlier today, and they obviously didn't get it fixed." All of these things point to them taking responsibility, right? I mean, clearly it's not my fault that I've been standing here for 15 minutes... So, she asks for a check or cash. I only have a card with me. She then breaks down and can't figure out what to do, and prepares to send me away because they close in ten minutes. That, I assure you, isn't going to work with me. I suggest that they use my card number to run through at the other store, in Delavan, over the phone, which they do not want to do "because the charge then applies to that store, not the lake geneva store, and Michael wouldn't like that...." ....speechless is me. So, as another customer, a very nice gentleman who has been waiting those ten minutes for the wonderful clerk to futile-try my card over and over again, sits and waits, I offer to wait so she can help him. Why should he suffer as well? He has enough cash (barely, he was scared that he would be in my same position) and leaves, patting me on the back, clearly watching my hair turning gray by the second. So, it's 7:00, and I've had it. I'm starting to get upset. I explain that I'm going to go to the ATM to get cash, but that I'm only going to take out $20.00, and they can eat the 4 extra dollars for making me waste 40 minutes of my evening to their inefficiencies. I come back, very swiftly, and give my favorite smiling hostess the $20 bill, and am promptly informed that she has talked to the owner and that she will allow me to bring my clothes with me for the $20, and the remaining balance will be left on my account.... I'm looking for a dropped jaw emoticon...does yelp have one of those???? Darn, they don't.... Here, let's use this... D ^ : I can't believe they can't take care of this themselves. Oh, they mentioned that "it's the credit card machines fault, not theirs, so there's nothing they can do..." Uhh...yes there is. You can want future business from me and others that I am connected with. You can forego the $4, and remember that your internet isn't sufficient enough to do business... "Oh, and will you have the owner please call me?" I ask. I am then given a phone number for the owner, who one would assume is Michael Todd, since the conversation on the phone earlier stating that "Michael wouldn't like if we put the charge on our [Delavan Store] system." Nope, I get to call a lady that will be at the Delavan location tomorrow after 12:00 PM. I will be calling the person listed on the new napkin-note tomorrow, and will hopefully have more to write about on the Delavan yelp page when I'm done. Thanks to whomever reads this novel. They should think about how small this town is, and how fast word travels around here. read more

Hmmmmm....this place! I think the owner has basically "checked out". Todd leaves early Thursday and nobody knows nothin' and can't do nothin' until Monday when he returns from the Hoosier state. The lady at the counter is so rude it's almost satire. Me: "Hi, I'm picking up some items that I prepaid for." Her: "You can't prepay here." "But I did." "Our system doesn't allow it--LOOK!" [Swings monitor displaying some sort of chart--I have no idea what I'm looking at] YOU CAN'T PRE-PAY HERE!" "Well forget it, I'll just leave and talk to the owner on Monday" Her: "Oh, it's been zeroed out, you don't owe any money. But there's a big difference from someting being zeroed out and prepaid." This place is the worst. People working there are so rude and customer service is awful. Every time my husband or I go in here to drop off or pick up dry cleaning they are snotty and have many unusual rules. Recently we were told we need to unbutton all of our shirts before they will take them. When my husband asked why and he has never had to do this before he was told "it is company policy but some people do not enforce it". He had to spend time in their shop unbuttoning all of his shirts. Unbelievable. They wanted to stamp a permanent bar code on the label of our heirloom wool blanket from Ireland. When my husband said "no way" they stated this is how they do it. The place is also expensive and they do not do a very job. Avoid this place. We will not be returning. read more

Gotta say I agree with the others but for a different reason. And I never bother with reviews but this place is so far off the reservation it's worth mentioning. In addition to a general attitude toward the customer as if they are doing you a big favor to take your money, the prices are absurdly high. I come from Chicago where it's not cheap, but these guys put the big city prices to shame. I'm looking for somewhere - anywhere - to go, instead. read more

It's a good cleaners, but recently they've completely stopped doing alterations or repairs. This is a problem as I have no interest in picking up a needle, especially for the more complicated projects... like my recently exploding down comforter. However, they do still replace buttons and sew on straps to ... things. read more

This place sooner or later you're stuck with counter service by one employee that can only be described as trailer trash. Avoid the grief and aggravation and head to a dry cleaners that truly understands that the only thing that matters is taking care of the customer. Also take heed from other customer reviews reporting similar experiences. Sad because never had a problem with the owner but the owner not always there and isn't the owner responsible for when not there making sure that all there employees who deal with the public do so in a professional and friendly manner !!! read more

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICES I've experienced in a very very long time! We just recently started using Michael Todd's cleaners in Burlington. Last week I picked up as usual my bosses dress shirts and slacks. Upon arrival at home, I've notices that two bottoms on the shirt sleeve were missing so following week I've inquired to a store clerk who explained that what shirt is pressed by the metal "flaps" of the press its possible for the buttons to crack fell off. At that point I asked if it was possible after shirts been pressed to have them checked for missing buttons and if there were any that I would pay extra for the missing buttons to be reattached. I was told that was not an options however at pick up if I've noticed any missing buttons the shirts can be send back to the plant in Delavan and mended for no charge as a courtesy. This week at pick up I found two shirts missing two bottoms on each sleeve. Clerk offered for the shirts to be send back for repair and ready for pick up in two days....on that note I got a bit upset and requested some kind of credit or overnight service which after a phone call to the plant it was approved. So this morning I took my third 6 mile each way trip to pick up the two shirts, one had two buttons reattached, other shirt unfortunately someone decided to reattach just one button....maybe they run out of buttons....again, I was offered for the shirt to be send yet again for the third time from Burlington to Delavan for the same repair. I decided to take the shirt home and do it myself and I called Delavan store to find out what happened. I was told multiple times that it was an oversight and that cleaners are not responsible for missing buttons. I had an unfortunate pleasure to speak to Donna, Who identify herself as a manager/sister of Michael Todds who has not a clue what customer service is nor what it requires. I can't believe of how close minded her style of management is and she clearly doesn't care about her customers. But then again it might not be about management nor customer service and all about entitlement. For once she stumbled upon a housekeeper who said no I will not fulfill your shortcomings of your company and employees and no I will not do your job! They are lucky that there isn't much choice for dry-cleaning services when you live in the country otherwise they would be out of business LONG LONG time ago! She even had balls to call my boss and tell her that I was no longer welcome at any Michael Todd's locations! On that note you should be so lucky to have us a customer and I will be filing a complaint with BBB. Good luck! read more

Michael Todd Cleaners in Delevan took in my suit for dry cleaning and returned it with the wrong suit jacket. I originally thought that the jacket shrunk so I took it back where I purchased it (Kohls). What I found out totally amazed me! The pants were part of the suit (Chaps) and the jacket is Hart, Schaffner & Marx, which I believe is a very good brand. When I approached the dry cleaners about this mix up I was told that the items they gave me is what I gave them. I have tried to contact the owners, Michael and Lee, and they screen their calls and guess what? NEVER CALL BACK! Not only did I get screwed but some poor soul got a jacket that he will disappear in! THERE ARE A LOT OF INCOMPETENT BUSINESSES OUT THERE SO BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU SEND IN YOUR SUITS FOR CLEANING. THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU! read more

I said no. . have the owner call me. He never did and has since put our account on hold until we call him. What a joke! Not a great way to run a business. I had a $5.00 coupon that Michael Todd cleaners gave me when I picked up a previous order. I presented it with my last order and was told it would apply. When I picked up this order there was credit for "multiple coupons $1.05. When I complained, the clerk told me it had been applied, it just didn't show. I will come back to Michael Todd when I get a credit to my card for $3.95 -- unless I prefer the cleaner I will be using while waiting. read more
