Obviously a change in staff, but the manager has been around for a long time and a couple staff members had stayed and have been amazing and funny! Seriously, I used to just hang out here as a kid because it's an art store, I'm an artist and the staff is great. It's a very clean store. They always have what I need and things I didn't know I needed. The prices are far superior to Michael's and better than Curry's. Plus the discounts are great and the rewards program is solid too. Oh and did I mention it's animal friendly? I can take my dog for walks in Petsmart and Deserres, Oh and also the customer bathroom is pretty cool. And free bags, who needs to pay a nickel for a bag? All in all, it's a great store. One of my favourite hangout spots, I can test my markers and pencils and all that and talk to awesome staff.

I also needed a needle or something and she didn't want me to have to purchase a whole pack of needles for just the small toque repair that I needed so she located one for me, and also showed me an easy way to thread it! (fold it over first then stick it through the eye). I remember 'friendship bracelets' long ago and I think that if ever I needed to make another one I'd come here for the colour selection. Kate took back the product that did not work for us and directed me to a more appropriate product to suit my needs. I'm so surprised at how good the deals are at Michaels pre-Christmas! The Christmas trees were all…read moreon sale and they were pretty too. We had just come from The Bay where the prices of trees were exorbitant. They had affordable options at different price ranges and options with pre-lit trees, flocked trees, and different sizes, although they didn't have any really large ones on display at the time. They had really cute lighting options as well that were all buy one get one free. They were smaller string lights of about 6-10 feet and featured different types of features on the actual bulbs like snowmen, reindeer, and Santa faceplates. They had really neat testers set up in store so you could press a button on a sample string of lights to see what they would look like. The batteries weren't included with these however. There were a ton of other decorations available that were ready to display or ones to customize.

I hosted a tie-dye themed birthday party for my daughter (who just turned 8) at the Michael's In…read more Mississauga (Vega Blvd) and our party coordinator was Nicole. We often attend their Sunday crafting workshops and Nicole is often the coordinator (we sure here as she is kind, patient with kids, and has such an incredibly warm energy!!). Nicole, along with the entire staff at Michae's were gracious and such an integral part of why the party turned out to be such an amazing success! As soon as we arrived, they provided colouring sheets to help keep the early arrivers busy as we did some last minute set up (which Nicole also helped us with). What an incredible price point too ($149), which includes plates, napkins and cutlery. Every child and parent enjoyed the tie-dye theme and bracelet making. They even provided little take home instructions to make the wash process easy!! I would definitely book a future party at this location again and I hope to get Nocole again!! Please never stop hosting these parties Michaels! And please consider adding new themes! It's a Mother's dream to have such a brilliant one-stop shopping experience where kids can have a blast, and parents can shop if they choose all at the same time!! The studio is spacious, clean, and large enough for team building events, or kid's birthday parties. They offer various options such as ceramic painting, hand building and potter's wheel. My plus one and I choose to use our hands and make our own bowl and cup. The staff were friendly and gave us a short tutorial and provided us various tips on placement and design. Not only were they friendly, they were patient as I had to make the same cup 3 times and smooth it out. In the end we left pretty late leaving the venue. Thank you Crackpot for not kicking us out!! Some tips before going, clip your nails, especially if you plan to get down and dirty with any clay. Not feeling the clay? no worries, they have plenty of premade ceramics and paint. You don't even need to be extra creative as we watched others around us make lily pads and clay hands. Keep in mind that once you finish your creation you can't take it home, it takes a couple of weeks for them to dry and give it a glaze finish before you can pick it up. Overall this is a relaxing place with friendly staff and a fun environment to try something creative. I would highly recommend giving crackpot a try. JimStar Out!!
