Having dated some half dozen psychotherapists over the decades and having been obliged to see some other half dozen by my insane family, I distrust psychotherapist simply because most of them are nuts and the LA-based ones seem intent on legitimizing bad behavior in their patients. However, the lingering trauma Palisades Fires brought me to Michele's doorstep for EMDR which she miraculously used to lift the trauma. But so many other things were happening with my family that I continued seeing her and she is a lifesaver. Unlike all the other therapists I have found Michele to be intuitive, willing to work out of the box to come up with solutions, and personally invested in my getting better. Michele Sherman is an incredible human and therapist, and I highly recommend her for talk therapy and EMDR. Michele is very empathetic and an incredible listener. She not only takes in and remembers what you share, but she is able to see the bigger picture of where you are and what you're experiencing. I found this to be very helpful because sometimes when your brain feels all over the place, having someone who can unravel the string to reflect where you're at can be so validating and helpful. Her style of therapy, along with EMDR, felt solution-based, which worked well for me. She'd ask if I wanted to talk or do EMDR, and regardless of which I chose, it felt like during each session we were able to focus on a specific challenge or wound and do healing work to understand where the pain was stemming from. I've had many therapists, and Michele is by far my favorite. I felt huge shifts and growth from my time working with her. It was noticeable in every aspect of my life. In other therapy sessions I've left feeling confused, like I didn't know what I'd accomplished. With Michele, I always knew what we were addressing during the session and it felt applicable to my life and healing. I found Michele while on a search for EMDR. I was preparing to testify in a SA trial with deep rooted pain that had been buried for 24 years.
