I would not hesitate to recommend Dan to anyone looking to learn guitar, bass, drums, piano, or music theory - he is a beast at all of these instruments and has a wealth of knowledge and resources on all of these subjects. Our lessons were equally directed by both my interests and his recommended path for beginners - we spent time learning pop songs, jazz standards, beginner classical pieces, approaches to improvisation and songwriting, and doing deep dives into the underlying theory of all of the above. I'm an adult learner with a full-time job - I feel like Dan always struck a good balance between understanding that I have other time commitments, while still pushing and encouraging me to get into a healthy practice routine, and recommending exercises to do even when I only have a few minutes a day to spend at the piano. His studio is fully equipped and would be awesome to visit if you can do in-person, but his set-up for virtual lessons is fully decked out as well, with multiple cameras, virtual "piano roll" view, and great a/v quality. If I was unable to make my time during the week for whatever reason, he offered other times he was available so I could make up my lesson The only reason I stopped taking lessons was because other commitments in my life were overtaking my free time, but I truly enjoyed having Dan as my teacher and having the opportunity to finally learn piano.
