    Kubotas are great and this is the best place to get one. On my 2nd one in 25 yrs and would go nowhere else.

My son-in-law in Montreal also rented from the U-Haul dealer near his home, and had a similar experience. First, when I booked the van at one location, they did a "bait and switch" and sent to me another location which was far less convenient. Also, becuase there is a mileage charge, the rental ended up costing me more. If you like surprise billings, you will love this company. They take a concept pioneered by the hospital industry to its logical conclusion. And just like hosptials, there is no recourse after the fact. The problem is if you return the vehicle after hours, you have no recourse. I called the owner of this location, who promptly washed his hands of the matter. I escalated to the regional adjuster. The regional adjuster was a reasonable guy, and we got to an equitable resolution. I have two examples of surprise billings: 1. U-Haul has a cell phone check-in process, which does not work. Their failure becomes your problem. If you don't succesfully check your vehicle in by cell phone, you get a $20 charge. 2. I was hit with a cleaning charge, because the van was returned dirty. In the end this did turn out to be the case--my bad. Also, watch your back. For every car rental I pick up, I take extensive photos of the vehicle before I move it in the lot to establish per-existing conditions, such as scratches. My failure for this rental was to that I did not take photos of the inside, both before and after the rental. U-Haul should build a marketing program around a new tag line: "We don't care because we don't have to."

    I went here for a U-Haul rental, which was supposed to be contactless. But the lock combination did…read morenot work, so I had to go in the office. There were THREE STAFF PEOPLE IN A TINY ENCLOSED SPACE, NOT ONE WEARING A MASK. On top of that, the manager said, "Oh, you had the lock with the missing number?" So they knew of the problem and did not bother to fix it, then violated protocols and exposed customers to risk.

BRIGHT AND SHINY Self-storage units faces are bright U-haul orange and the metal is fresh and new. (No chance you'd find Hannibal Lecter's stash here!) Parking lot asphalt is well maintained and lettered pavement directional striping is solid and fresh. THEY'VE GOT A BOX FOR EVERYTHING golf clubs box, lamp box, flat screen tv box, book box, dish box, fine crystal box, wardrobe box complete with hangar bar to hang your clothes inside!! And of course S,M,L,XL too! RENTAL PICK UP AND DROP OFF Like a proper airport car rental center, easy pick up of your reserved vehicle (find your lettered spot, keys in hand, and you're off!)     I don't think I've ever rated any place 1 star (look at the rest of my profile) but believe me when…read moreI say this was probably the worst rental experience I've ever had. I arrive before the office opens (Due to an error on Uhaul's online scheduling system) and wait for it to open. The owner gets there and begins to help me since I'm first in line (only one other person behind me). It's a clean, inviting place. There's even a plaque on the wall denoting some recognition for being a long time Uhaul partner so I think this is going to be a breeze. The owner pulls up my reservation and then asks if I want insurance. I don't remember if I added that to my reservation so I ask for a second to check my email. The owner says "you don't need to look anything up, i just need to know if you need insurance". Again I say, "gimme a sec, let me check" and he says even louder "Just tell me yes or no!". At this point, both me and the guy behind me are surprised at how quickly he escalated the situation so I said "just one second..." and before I could finish, he THREW the keys at me and gestured to the guy behind me and yelled "Next, I don't have time for this". Don't have time for this? There's one other guy in the store and even he clearly was taken aback because he didn't step right up. In fact, he even asked "are you sure, I can wait". Bear in mind, this is within 3 minutes of the office opening. I'd get it if this were a Uhaul in a major city and it's an hour before closing. The owner starts to help him while I stand there completely surprised at the aggressiveness. In fact, during that entire exchange, another patron walks in and hears the yelling from the owner and audibly says "what the...". Literally 3 people are confused by why the owner is acting like this. I wait until he finishes with the guy after me and he helps me again. I decline insurance and he says "look it's busy, I don't have time to wait" which i THINK was his attempt at trying to apologize? Who knows. I say "it would have literally taken 20 seconds". He repeats "i don't have time for that". I say "you didn't have to throw the keys at me" to which he responds "i didn't". I dropped it after that because it was clear he wasn't willing to own up to anything. Picked up the truck which was totally fine and drove off. 5/5 for the truck. Clean, all damage and scratches clearly marked with the labels. The owner clearly explained the fuel level check off. 0/5 for customer service and general respectfulness.
