We had an old car that was making too many different noises to even try to describe on CarTalk. The check engine light had been stuck on for years (except, luckily, whenever it needed to pass inspections). Then it started having major issues. Finally we ended up at Calhoun's, after having tried out half the auto repair shops in the area. Mr. Calhoun himself gave us a diagnosis of the things that were wrong with the car, in order of priority, with no pressure at all to fix more than we could afford. We decided to deal with just a couple of items first. When we finally picked it up after the repairs were done, the engine ran so much better that we sat dumbfounded in silence for several minutes, listening to all the little noises that weren't there. Plus, the check engine light was off (and stayed off!) We were so impressed we took it back again for some of the less urgent fixes. I met Dan after he agreed to look at some body damage to passenger side of my car. I showed up late to the appointment after they closed but he agreed to see me anyway. Dan took a look at the damaged area of my car, he walked into his garage, and came out with a plastic container filled with clear liquid and a clean paper rag. He dipped the paper rag in the mysterious potion and started to wipe off the white paint that was smeared on the damaged area of my grey car. Like a magician me made the paint disappear. Dan didn't charge me a dime after I asked, "how much do I owe you?" Dan is a good business man and I will return to his shop if I ever need body work done. I found this shop on Google while working in the Princeton area. I purchased off road bumpers for my truck and was looking for a shop to install them. Calhouns was very professional and easy to work with. I work 6 days a week 12 hours a day and they made it easy to schedule an appointment. I was able to drop the truck off at night and pick it up the following day. They are very quick and do great work. Pricing is very reasonable. I would highly recommend them. read more

I just tried calling to see if they could look at my car today and the person on the line said to me "for what?," and I said responded my saying "I think I need new wheel barrons," and their response was "Nah I can do that today!" I said "uhmm ok thank you" and he proceeded to hang up. I had to be the first caller this morning! First impressions are lasting impressions buddy. I will take my business elsewhere. The polite thing to say would have have been "Sorry we probably wont have the time today to work on that, but lets try to schedule another day to look at your car." After being recommended to me by my long-time mechanic, I've learned that he will NOT try to take advantage of customers by charging more than what is needed for the repair. At the same time, he will deliver when promised or be outright frank with you if behind schedule. Though Dan probably doesn't even read or care about YELP rating, he deserves a 5 star for the great job he has done with my 2 cars. I have been to Calhoun's a few times for different issues. The latest time was to have some body work done on a '97 Wrangler. The estimate was thorough and the work was completed for less than the original quote even after I asked to have some additional hardware (hinges) replaced. I drove to Princeton from Ohio, and the day before I was due to drive back my car started making squealing noises. Calhoun's was willing to check out my problem with no appointment on a Saturday. They tightened the alternator belt within 15 min, charged me $20 and sent me on my way. Can't speak to how they would be for bigger jobs but I would certainly bring my car back there. read more

Had a problem with the heat in my wife's car. Usually I try to troubleshoot this problem first but this weekend was pretty busy. I've been working across the street from Calhoun's for 20 years but never really knew it was there. Called them on Monday morning and they said they'd take a look. Turns out it the coolant was low. They added 2 quarts and checked for leaks. Didn't even charge me. Now I know how my car will react with low coolant. Will need brakes on my other car soon. Unfortunately, my family requires the services of a body shop A LOT. Most fortunately, we discovered Calhoun's Garage over 10 years ago and have used his services approximately 18 times since that point. This year was particularly intensive, with me seeing Calhoun's MANY times. Over the years, they've repaired both my luxury and economy vehicles, from less than year old BMW X5 35d and Mercedes ML 250, to 12 year old Toyota's and Mitsubishi's. I've had near totaled vehicles repaired, minor body repairs, and even an entire car repainted. In EVERY case, I was absolutely delighted by every element of the experience from beginning to end. The owner is truly an honest and talented man. They're prices are most fair and the quality of their work is truly world-class.
