The park continues in a large loop with different spots branching off in each direction. The trail is a gravel path large enough for cars to drive through with several parking spots. People often park and spend the whole day hanging by the sandbars, enjoying the lake and fishing and grilling out. The length of the trail and the accessibility of it make it a great place for people to come walk with family or walk the dogs. There is also a lot of local wildlife. I often see baby ducks and baby geese nest here. Overall, it is lovely, relaxing place to enjoy the lake.

As the night progressed, there were over 10 dogs at the park. The people are decently friendly and they are also accepting for the little dogs to join the big dogs, even though there are two sections. Let's be honest, what's the point of dog park if there is no dog to socialize with? No water source here so you have to bring your own. There are a few benches and chairs to sit on. The part that I don't like is it gets super buggy in the summer. Put on some serious bug spray and make sure you wear long pants. There is a bathroom in the hall office and a playground for kids at this park.

I primarily use the dog parks and I wish more people would allow their pooches to play here. The best time to find playmates for fido is on weekdays between 4:30-6:30 pm. I mostly see large dogs here. Access to the building is fee based and staffed by park employees during the following hours: M-Th 7am- 9pm Sat 10 am- 5 pm hours. CLOSED on Sunday Safe for the whole family.

There's a trailhead sign as well which is helpful. Gorgeous views of the lake on every side of the park, with plenty of trails in and around the park. Every time I visit, it's always very quiet and serene, and there's a little beach/island that is all dried out now that you can go walk out on which is cool. Lovely paved trails…read more The BLK Hiking Club started their 2024 hiking season at this park. It was my first hike in GA in over a decade. The Hog Mountain entrance has plenty of parking (our group was over 120 people). The bathrooms are adjacent to the parking lot and were clean and stocked. The water was cold but the hand dryers have warm air so your hands will warm right up on cold days. The map by the parking lot and bathrooms shows the routes of various lengths. The trails are paved and easy to navigate with only slight elevations on the 2 mile trail. Our group of over 120 people had plenty of space and room on the trail (walking 2 by 2). Along the trail there are benches and picnic areas. Overall, this is a beautiful, serene hike that is great for groups. I highly recommend it.
