The cost is $15 and they sell fast passes but I wasn't sure how much extra those people paid for that luxury. Most people were like us and just stood in the 3 hour line. The line was all the way into the parking lot. At some point you get inside a heated area where the line winds around so that helped with the temperature. Anyways, try to focus on how much fun you will have being spooked silly!! I'm a hard one to scare, but they got me screaming several times!! You walk through the USS Edson for a long spooky time and be prepared to climb to all 5 levels of the ship.

The taut athletic body of his polished bronze 'Torso of a Dancer' just pulled me in. I never forgot it. There is a slightly different version on display here, too. The gigantic space at this museum that holds Fredericks' works is overwhelmingly packed. (Be careful not to poke an eye out on a protruding arm, leg or toe.) Filled with white plaster originals, this marbled space is a fitting tribute to this prolific artist whose works dotted public spaces in the US. His idealized, hopeful figures captured the energy of post-war America. Obviously, to Detroiters, Fredericks is best known for the 'Spirit of Detroit' sculpture at the base of Woodward Avenue. The original plaster version is here and it's great to get a closer look at this iconic work. I was also fascinated with another smaller gallery that holds over 300 objects from the late artist's sculpture studio. It's enough to get a good sense of his working environment. Housed on the university campus, this museum also has some outdoor sculptures, too. Is it worth the drive from Detroit to check out this collection? Definitely.

Our son was in the pre-K program, and we felt he was very well prepared for Kindergarten, even though he only joined part-way through the school year. Our daughter is in the Montessori program for 4-year-olds and loves it. The school is open almost every day of the year, even on snow days when public schools are closed, and they offer a wide range of program options. They also run a morning drop-off for older children before school (with transport to local schools), and after-school pickup from local schools. All round a great place to send your kids in Midland!
