I submitted an appointment request online and about a week later I got a voicemail requesting that I call back in regards to my appointment request. I called back the number that called me. Maria answered the phone and I began to explain the purpose of my call but halfway through my sentence she cut me off and said "please hold." Then Miriam answered the phone and I began my spiel again, "I'm returning a call from your office regarding scheduling my appointment..." and she immediately cut me off and asked, "This isn't that department, I don't know why you called this number." I couldn't believe she spoke to me this way, but I responded, "I didn't call this number, I was transferred to you." Instead of addressing the mistake or transferring my call to the correct number, she continued to argue with me about why I was calling the wrong office. She used a condescending tone asking, "Did your doctor refer you here for a colonoscopy? I don't understand why you called here..." and on and on as nauseam. Finally I interrupted her and said, "Look, I don't know who transferred me where or why, but that's something y'all need to figure out. It's not my problem. Have a good day." Click. This practice could have the best doctors in the world, but I won't give business to any practice who can't provide manners and basic human courtesy to a new patient in the phone.

My daughter, 12 at the time, was the third rider on a three-person jet ski. She fell off the back of the jet ski where she suffered severe trauma, and in just a matter of hours we were being told she needed life saving surgery. Spinning; our lives were completely caught in a cyclone of uncertainty, worry, fear - you name it we were feeling it. How, as a parent do you endure being faced with an impossible situation like this? Trust, you must feel the utmost of confidence in the Doctors, Surgeons, Nurses and entire hospital staff being placed in our life, very much against any will of your own. I can say with certainty that the entire staff at PRISMA HEALTH, and specifically Dr. Bhairav Shah, created an experience that we felt supported in making the most difficult decisions we had ever faced. We trusted the guidance of the Doctors and Surgeons assigned to our daughters' case, they helped us come to a decision that saved our daughters' life. A Doctor carries a heavy burden, it isn't just the operations and procedures, it is everything in between. It is the counsel, the explanations, the peace of mind, the SUPPORT - these are the ancillary complexities that make a Doctor - GREAT. This is what we experienced with Dr. Shah, as well as many others at PRISMA HEALTH. I still find my emotions raw all these months later, I find myself in awe of my now 13-year-old daughter- thriving and re-engaging to normal life once more. The resiliency of a child is nearly medicinal in and of itself, but without the support, knowledge, expertise and greatness of Dr. Shah - I can't say we would have had the same outcome. We owe the future health and future life of our daughter to the greatness and kindness we found in Dr. Shah and the amazing staff at PRISMA HEALTH. Usually there is someone at the main reception desk who can direct you to your doctor's office. There is a walk in clinic as well. Each doctor has their own receptionist and wait times can vary in that respect. I like going there even though it is not as near as other offices.

Typical medical front desk staff who have attitudes…read more Used the UHC app to find an orthopedic surgeon to ensure they took our insurance. I call to make an appointment just for them to say they don't accept our insurance. I inform the front desk I found them directly through UHC so they should, just for the lady to state that they don't and UHC has them listed wrong. That's like saying it's googles fault their address is wrong. I'm so sick of doctors offices refusing to take responsibility for having their information up to date within insurance providers sites. It is not the patients responsibility to make sure doctor offices do their job to keep their information correct.
