To be…read morehonest, I really wasn't looking forward to this visit because last year, it was such a huge confusing process, especially since it was new patient visit. Check in process has improved but not sure if it's because we are returning patient visit. You go to the front desk, check in at a computer and take a pager with you. Then they page you to a desk and do all the paper work there. After that, you sit down and wait to be called in to exam. They check vitals and then you proceed to exam room. Then you go from exam to xrays, then back to exam room for consult. We did not have to wait long after checking in or waiting in exam room to be seen, or wait long for X-rays, everything was pretty quick today so I was very happy about that. Shriners I believe requires a referral to be seen. Parents need to be on top of scheduling Shriners appointments and not procrastinate with scheduling these visits, you schedule these appointments well out in advance. It is important for families to ensure they come here on time because there are families who travel a lot further away to be seen. Depending the date of the visit, if there's a holiday, like Valentines, Shriners had a ton of toys and goodie bags to give to children from generous donors. I wasn't expecting this since we are outpatient visit. My kids were very happy with the goodies they got. Last time we were there, there were tons of free snacks at the lobby. It is a very kid friendly environment and the staff truly seem to enjoy working with children. They expect good commitment from volunteers too. I remember visiting Shriners years ago as a kid with my parents to make a visit to another family whose daughter flew in from Argentina to get orthopedic surgery at Shriners SLC. This family didn't really know anyone in Utah so through some networking, my parents (also from Arg) found out and we went to go visit them. We discovered they didn't have to pay for her surgery and stay. Children are taken care of here. Definitely consider making a donation to Shriners.

The staff is so kind and helpful and some that have been there for years like Scott in the wheelchair department and Rick the head of the PT department are more like family at this point. They also always have something fun going on. The best is the wheelchair costumes at halloween time. Thank you Shriners for all you do.

Every doctor, every nurse to every one else in between that helped me recover did a fabulous job. The ICU nurses were attentive and caring. My nurses on the regular floor gave me a little more independence and freedom. My transplant doctor, Dr. Bluff has set the bar high for any other specialty doctor that helps me in the future. She was fantastic! My nephrologist, Dr. Jweehan was amazing! When you're going through your healing process, you deal with multiple nephrologists. Dr. Jweehan was my only nephrologist from the beginning til the end. She was the kindest, most passionate, most caring doctor. I'm happy that she was with me through the whole process. The facility is beautiful. It's a very big and stunning hospital. I appreciate that there's someone playing the piano in the lobby. It eases some of the stress I went through having to do labs multiple times a week. It was nice hearing such nice music while waiting for my name to be called. I stayed in Utah for 5 weeks. And every visit I had at this hospital was great. All the staff here is just nice. I think the only negative incidents that I had was a CNA kicking my husband and daughter out of my original recovery room and a gentleman who was dropping off my food. Other than that, my interactions with this hospital was fabulous. I couldn't recommend a better hospital to be taken care at. I have my 6 month check up on April. I look forward to coming back and seeing my doctors who took such great care of me.

Many patients are patronized & made to feel like hypochondriacs by confused gen. practitioners or Dr's in other fields; leading to years or even a lifetime of frustration & pain without any help. 6. In the beginning of finding medical knowledge in ANY disease, it's obviously poorly understood...leaving Dr's to struggle finding relief for their patients until a 'cure' is discovered. Yet relief of symptoms is critical. Researching elusive diseases is the only way to discover help. For example cancer: there is no one sure cure, but there are many doctors working to alleviate symptoms or give care that could possibly help, or not.
