So I decided to give their their in-house deli a try and started off with the basic bacon cheddar cheeseburger with jalapenos. The service was quick and efficient and in about 8 minutes I had my burger which was stacked tall with a thick patty, nice slices of bacon and all, the fixing. They have a nice little dining area surrounded by all the trophies had it been taken by owner over the many years, this place has been open. I stopped by to learn more about it and was greeted by Tasos, the Greek butcher who many customers already know from the market. He offered me a sample of the beef souvlaki, and after one bite I was sold. The food is made fresh while you wait, the service was friendly and quick, and you can either grab it to go or enjoy it there. It's nice to see a local Greek family bringing authentic souvlaki and pita wraps to Katy using quality meats from the market. This is the second meat processor in the greater Houston area I have tried, and this is by far my favorite one! The venison sausages are amazing. Just so juicy, flavorful, and fresh. While waiting for the order to be fulfilled, they graciously offered two complimentary sausages and two glassware. Now I'm on a mission to find a nearby brewery... With 4 hind quarters and 2 shoulders dropped off, a total of 20lbs of sausage, roughly 15lbs of ground meat, and 12 steaks were picked up. Can't wait to return after more hunting trips! read more

Midway Food Market has the very best sausage I've had anywhere. It's is the perfect blend of beef, pork, fat, spices, jalapeño seeds, (there might be venison in it as well, I don't know for sure but it's outstanding). It is slightly dry with the right amount of heat. Casing is thin and seared with a nice snap to it. Their bbq sauce is ok. Order a sausage sandwich with pickles, onions, jalapeños, and sauce on a bun and it's the best of all time. Their brisket is perfection. Also to note, I've had venison, elk, and bison sausages processed here and they are far better than any other wild game processor I know of. They do their sausage making and smoking in the slow and low pit in the Czech and German tradition that you would see in the fabled hill country south of Austin. Also, the smoked turkey breast was excellent. Buttermilk pie and pecan pies were ok. Nothing to write home about. Next time I will try the blueberry streusel bread. If you're a hunter, this is the best place to get your game processed. Everything I've ever had from here came out perfect whether it's white tail, axis deer, pig, elk, bison.... They are on a master level in that regard. Lots of good stuff here to buy. It's also serves as a general store. They do need to work on the beer cooler. It used to be great. Last couple of times I visited, it was a piss-poor selection. The burgers they were grilling up looked and smelled amazing. I need to try one next, but I'm addicted to their sausage sandwich. Popped in to Midway for the first time today because I heard really great things about their burger. It's good, but nothing more than that. A little on the dry side, the beef patty is thick and generously topped - pickles and cheese only for me! I wanted to let the meat sing and it didn't perform more than a whisper. This burger could have used some more seasoning and a better sear. Other than that, it's a solid burger to enjoy after perusing their store, which has a lot to offer and is definitely worth a visit. I brought deer quarters to Midway after shooting a spike this season. I had already butchered the backstrap so was just looking for a pile of sausage. Midway has a great drive-thru system that's extremely convenient. You pull through to the back, park and guys hop out to unload your cooler. They had a sample cart set up outside with all their different products so you can try everything out before ordering. I settled on jalapeño cheese sausage, summer sausage, regular smoked links and 3 dozen tamales. It was roughly 35 pounds of meat and cost just over $200 total. They were extremely helpful in navigating the options and asking me the right questions to help me make up my mind. Everything was processed and ready to go in about a week and a half, which was impressive. When you come back for a pickup, it's just as simple as drop off. I paid while a guy loaded my coolers in the truck. Excellent customer service all around. Only thing that gave me pause through the whole process was whether I was really getting my deer back. As I said, I had already pulled out the backstrap and tenderloins, so it wasn't my biggest concern this go around. There didn't appear to be any tags or labels in the process that said this is my deer. Other processors I've been to in the past include your name in the packaging and tag the deer meat when it's dropped off. I didn't see any of that here but that's not to say they have some other system in place? Maybe worth asking about if you're really worried about it on drop off. Ive tried everything but the tamales so far and Midway has beaten out just about every other processor I've tasted. Really great tasting finished product. read more

a week ago Called this location earlier today to inquire About meat packages. Spoke with a male. He stated that I could come in but they won't take any phone orders. I drove over 30 mins in the rain to this location to be told they have meat packages but they are not for sale. I was told that I can purchase the meat separately at ridiculous pricing that would double the price of the actual meat package. I've used this location in the past and thought that they were awesome. In times like these when things are scarce and all you want to do is feed your family Midway should be ashamed. Then on top of it the woman at the register has the nerve to get nasty when I let her know that this was terrible customer service especially after we called before we came. We have been Midway customers for years. After Harvey, the market has been closed for well over a year. It recently reopened, but it's totally different now. It's not really a market, per se. It's a butcher shop that, also, has an eat-in area, makes sandwiches to order and hot meat plates. The supermarket part is gone, and the store is half the original size. Now, the sausage here is great, so I'll keep on coming back to their butchers. We didn't eat in, so will have to try that. It's in a little strip center on the south side of Hwy 90. There are two other restaurants in the strip center, but one is closed on Sundays. Life=change. read more

I have my deer processed here and truly couldn't say enough about my experiences. I took a Doe and a Buck here on the same day, and had them processed. The people working the counter were wonderfully helpful and the facility itself is nothing short of impressive. I wanted to keep my expenses down on the two animals so I selected Jalapeño Cheese Sausage, Spicy Italian Sausage, a large portion of the meat would be rough ground (so that I can produce my own Salami). Of course I had all the tenderloins and straps cleaned up and packaged. The Jalapeño Cheese Sausage is AMAZING... SO tasty The Italian is wonderful. They do a great job adding pork to round out the flavors. The Chili ground meat is well cleaned and there was a large amount of it. It was clear that they went out of their way to really clean every single bit of meat off of the animal, and I respect that. I am inclined to feed as many people as possible from one of these Texas beauties, and that will be more than possible with the over 150# of meat that I drove away with. My total cost (which could have been much lower had I just done primals and 1/2 ground) was $295.00 but this much meat is a real blessing right before Christmas. Lots of sausage went to my friends and family for Christmas. I HIGHLY suggest your game here. They process everything except Feral Hog. Happy Hunting! read more

One word - nostalgia. If you grew up in the city, you won't understand the love some people have for this place. Something about the short aisles with low shelving, no crowds (just you and a couple of other folks), a tasty meat counter with hard working guys who REALLY know about good meat. You can truly leave with your entire grocery list fulfilled if you give it a chance! We get so caught up in huge supermarkets with 8 different options for one item, but here the simplicity keeps you focused and in and out without the stress of a hundred things going on. Some of the same people work here from when we used to shop here regularly 12+ years ago, so that must say something! Stop in for a BBQ bite too if you have the chance. I am not writing about the grocery side of this place, instead I am writing about the game processing part of this place. They have a 24-hour drop-off during hunting season for meat processing. The reason i like this place is that they work with the hunter's for hungry charity. Which you can choose to donate your meat to this charity and then it will but prepared and given to homeless people. Which i think is awesome and a good thing to do. So I usually donate half of the stuff I bring in to this charity whenever i bring in the meat.. This place is also convenient because if you are coming from west Texas which is almost all of Texas to Houston it on the way into town. Just got to say WOW how thing change from when you were young. Midway Dube's and Westside seem so big when I went there as a kid. Now it is so small (Dube;s closed may a year ago along with Westside) I still go to Midway to buy meat the way I did in high school...wrapped in paper, however I think that will soon change.
