Three words, crawfish, fettuccine Alfredo!!! this place is an amazing hidden gem thanks to my coworker for showing it to me!

I usually go to The Best Stop in Katy but I was down Dairy Ashford and have heard about Hebert's so I decided to give it a try. I thought it was like the ones in Lake Charles. Maybe I didn't look around enough but no one really helped me so I was just wandering around myself. I saw the prepackaged cracklings and thought "Ooo, exactly what I came for". Nope. This was NOT what I wanted or what I was expecting. 1. The bag was ridiculously hard to open for some reason. Not one but both so it's not me right? 2. This was more like chicharrones instead of cracklings. Those of y'all who know what I'm talking about know what I'm talking about! 3. Both flavors tasted similar, if not the same I was very disappointed in the "cracklings". I also bought their tea cakes, the original flavor and the lemon flavor. There was this bakery shop in Lake Charles that closed down but they had the BEST tea cakes so I guess I bought these thinking they would be the same. Nostalgia I guess. I have not tried them yet but I don't know if I want to. Will come back with an update once I do try them. read more

I came here to pick up a stuffed chicken for the holiday--and walked out with way more than I planned! The andouille sausage was crazy good, and I couldn't resist grabbing a shrimp pie and a meat pie too. Everything I bought was uncooked, but they did have a menu with hot, ready-to-eat items. I didn't try those this time, but I'm definitely planning to go back for them. Can't wait to see what else they've got! read more

Wow!!! Last time I was here was approximately 8 - 10 years ago. Back then the food was awesome every single time and back then I didn't really spend time doing reviews. I've been here a few times to pick up meats for a party, or to cater a turkey for thanksgiving but this time I stopped by to try out their hot foods. One of the best decisions made for lunch! Herbert's has a small menu for their hot foods, featuring po boys, etoufee, and a daily special. That day, I got to try the deboned chicken with a side of crawfish etoufee and green beans. This was so delicious! The etoufee was seasoned well and saucy! The chicken was stuffed with their shrimp dressing rice which kept it very moist. The other plate I tasted was their sausage and chicken jambalaya. It had a nice kick of heat to it, and I loved the sausage in there. The portions are a great size, and more than enough to fill you up for lunch. I would definitely come back to try their other specials as well. The service was fast and the food came out out. We came into a turducken just after Thanksgiving 2022. My husband Matt B. did a colleague a work favor during the holiday week, and the colleague said that he'd send a turducken if Matt got it done by the Wednesday. Matt thought he was joking until the turducken arrived on our doorstep. I knew a turducken was a sort of Russian nesting doll of poultry, but had never seen one before and wasn't sure what we were meant to do with it, other than stick the huge box in our garage freezer and worry about it later. Thankfully, it came with cooking instructions. Also thankfully, we were scheduled to host Christmas Eve for a crowd of twenty people. The turducken came from Hebert's Specialty Meats, apparently the visionaries behind this multibird monstrosity (the origins are contested, but the Hebert brothers have a solid claim). It looked sort of like a turkey, but without the bones, something a little horror movie-like about that. The turkey was stuffed with a boneless duck, which was stuffed in turn with a boneless chicken. There were layers of cornbread dressing and pork sausage stuffing separating the three birds, and everything was seasoned and vacuum sealed before getting frozen and shipped off to our doorstep. It took days to defrost this thing, and it was still a little frozen when we stuck it in the oven, borrowing a friend's roasting pan. I was worried it wouldn't cook up right, but it roasted beautifully, making the house fragrant for hours. The turducken required very little work and no particular kitchen skills. It came out great, making an impressive, unique centerpiece for our Christmas Eve dinner. Easy to carve, too, with no bones in the way. All three birds were tender and tasty, and I loved the cornbread and pork stuffing. We ate I think about two thirds of the turducken, and the rest went into freezer bags that I eventually plan to eat. I was pretty happy with this fortuitous holiday feast. A-MAZ-ING! Herbert's is so so so good. Went there for lunch today. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone there boasted about how great the food was. I ordered the crawfish etouffee. It was hot fresh and delicious. It came with a huge side of corn and a slice of French bread. The order was large enough for lunch and dinner. Believe me... I will be heating it up for later. They also have a huge assortment of ready made Cajun specialties for when you just don't know what to make for dinner. And they also have a nice selection of desserts to top off that perfect meal. I give them a 10 out of 10... and I dont just give 10's away all willy nilly. You have to be great to earn that. read more

A strange thing happened on the way to get tacos, I finally tried this restaurant! For starters, I've literally lived no more than 10 minutes from this restaurant for the last 8 years and never tried it. So why not roll the dice for Thanksgiving, lol. I'm happy to say they did not disappoint. My mom and I tried the Turkey stuffed with cornbread dressing, sea stuffed bell peppers. They were frozen raw, so I had to cook everything, but it was all super simple. The Turkey came out wonderful, moist, flavorful, and more than enough to feed 4-5 people. The stuffed bell peppers were small, and the filling was mostly a seafood paste with a few shrimp, but still perfect for pre-dinner snacking. Everything had the right amount of salt and pepper for balance plus and added dimension of Cajun flair. We'll try a few more things for Christmas! read more

Amazing.... Simply put Service is no hassle and quick, and if you don't know what order get the recommendations from the person at the counter. Today I ordered the Blake Special -2pcs of blacked catfish with crawfish etouffee smothered with side corn and bread $13.50... delicious! Seating is is a sparse but but don't focus on that. I been here several times and not once did they disappoint, as a matter of fact I end up buying to frozen stuff boneless chicken for dinner some nights when we can't decide what to cook. read more

I ordered three stuffed ducks from the Dairy Ashford shop, with different stuffings. My order was ready a day earlier than promised, and all three were delicious: nicely seasoned and with a LOT of stuffing. Roasted at 375°F one hour under foil, and another hour uncovered. Every one of the staff was friendly and helpful. I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

I really love Hebert's. Most times I visit for their lunch plates. The menus change daily so just call ahead and placed your order. My personal favorite is the stuffed catfish and Shrimp Étouffée plate. It is delicious and well seasoned. I also have purchased their spices, sauces, frozen Étouffée, crab stuffed jalapenos, frozen stuffed catfish and roux base. Good ole authentic Cajun style food that is true to Louisiana. Their service in person and over the phone is superior. Definitely a staple on the West side. read more

I have been coming here for the past 2 years. I feel so horrible for not writing a good review along time ago. During Thanksgiving and Xmas, I love to order there Turducken especially when I have the extended family and friends coming over for the holiday. (Stuffing of your choice "I also get crawfish", chicken, duck, and the turkey on the outside). Honestly, my family and I love the deboned stuff chicken with crawfish / rice dressing. Chicken is so moist and the crawfish stuffing makes it so great. I also love the crawfish pie, this is my favorite. I tried the broccoli casserole and boudin (both were very spicy) my husband like the boudin. If you want Cajun dishes, this is the place. read more

I purchased several food items here and so far hated : Cornish hens stuffed with shrimp stuffing and another stuffed with cornbread dressing, both stuffings were horrible. Then I ordered the boudin balls and tried them- so hot why bother to even try to season them since you would not be able to taste it anyway. The shrimp bisque was manageable to swallow. Stopped in to grab a stuffed chicken for the Holiday and man! The chicken was perfect it was juicy and flavorful. I did not have to add one seasoning to it! I decided to smoke mine on the BBQ Smoker to give it that smokey flavor. It was great. Came out crispy and ready to serve! They also have hot food there during the week which is equally good.
