The one minor issue is we called a few days ahead for allergies as suggested (gluten), but it had no impact - the chef said they ran out of GF bread the day before our stay. Our room was generously sized and very comfortable, and very comfortable luxurious bedding. but the interior design left me somewhat disappointed. Rather than embracing the warmth and rustic elegance you would expect from a mountain resort, the décor felt cold and sterile. Shades of gray dominate the room, giving it a somewhat lifeless atmosphere. There was only a single bathroom sink, no Japanese-style bidet toilet, and very few design elements reflecting the character of Utah or the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. Considering this is an American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts property, I expected a stronger sense of luxury and place. Instead, the Grand Hyatt feels more like a cold high-end business hotel that could be located almost anywhere in the world. The service was welcoming with a very young staff that is still on a steep learning curve. Breakfast was included through the American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts program, which was a welcome benefit and provided a pleasant start to the day. My first impressions ,the property offers excellent facilities and a beautiful setting, the architecture and interior design simply did not deliver the authentic mountain atmosphere we had hoped for as compared to Montage or other properties. This appears to be more a business retreat type of place.

Not terrible, not $225/night quality. 6) Guest book in the room with rules & places to dine around town is outdated; Iggys? Hoppers? Both out of business for several years now. 7) No where to put your suitcase or belongings, not even a luggage rack to keep belongings off the floor. They did have a coat rack in the restroom, which was weird and not useful. 8) The concept of themed rooms is cute, candidly, this place is not somewhere we would visit again.

Be warned, the wifi is not free, which boggles my mind given that even cheap hotels have free wifi. Because we needed to work during our stay, wifi was important. We had a lot of trouble getting it set up, even though we followed the instructions. The 3d-party 24-hour help desk was not responsive. When we were finally able to get connected, we were told it was going to cost almost twice as much as WorldMark said it would be. When we asked the front desk about that, they said we would be charged the lower amount. Long story short, they didn't honor that and their friendliness suddenly evaporated when we asked about it.

There is also an individual temperature control unit in the room so that you can adjust it to your liking. The home has a classic look but feels very well kept and modernized. You can also choose your time for breakfast between 8 and 10am, which is convenient. Check in is at 3pm so I recommend you make a crater reservation at 2:30, go for a float and then get changed and head straight to the sauna. If you're visiting in winter you can relax in time to head over to the ice castles (same parking lot as the crater) and/or go ice-skating at the rink. Overall, very happy with the stay.

They do have wifi though if you absolutely have to watch your Netflix. Every morning they also make breakfast for you! We had some absolutely amazing Belgian waffles with really great lemony drizzle, some melted butter, amazing fruit and more. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing and delicious. The hot chocolate was especially good! They also have popcorn, movies you can watch, and even some homemade cookies available throughout the day. If you decide to venture out of your room, here are some things to do in mid-December...Tubing at Soldier Hollow, Swimming at the Crater, ice skating in town, cross country skiing, and surely more things that I'm unaware of. I will say the food choices in Midway were pretty lacking, but that of course isn't the Invited Inn's fault. This was the perfect anniversary trip and one we will always remember and likely repeat!
