Very poor customer service experience. I was told my insurance would not cover a preoperative appointment because it was for an elective procedure . They never checked with my insurance and told me I had to pay up front. I called my insurance company and the representative reached out to them and they didn't want to provide billing codes so he could make sure it would be covered. He then called the Munster location and they gave him the codes and I was able to go there to get great service and insurance was billed. read more

Never go there, I was there on a with waiting on my parent and she asked me to see if they take my insurance to do a blood test, I asked do you take my insurance and told them if you don't I do not want or need a blood test, they said they take it, after a year they send me a bill of $200, and were about to send it to collection, i paid it off never received a receipt now after a full year they send me another bill for the same test that i have done for $60.03 I called to know why since i paid the $200 they never explained why is that but they will revise and do adjustment and the manger will give me a call, after a month i receive a new bill for $165. This clinic is fine for emergency first aid, sudden illnesses, etc. But, don't look to them for primary care. I needed treatment for a rino-virus, and told the PNP I was searching for a primary care M.D. I asked if she could give me a referral. She told me MEC provides primary care service. So, I began using them for primary care treatment. It turned out to be a mistake. There were misunderstandings from the beginning. Conversations about meds, or treatment began ending with the statement: 'well, we're really just urgent care'...I'll give you a referral. I was never treated as a primary care patient, and my last email contact with them went unanswered. I wasted a year with this clinic. Just went into their clinic because my friend was having tingling in both hands and wanted to get checked out to make sure she wasn't having a heart attack and the woman at the desk starts explaining the office visit costs. Do not come here unless you are coming for a coronavirus test cause that's all they seem to care about. You have to schedule an appointment online (no walk-in). My appointment was for 7pm. Didn't get call back til 7:45. In the meantime, while you sit in the waiting room, they have a constant flow of people coming in and going straight to the back for CORONAVIRUS test. Walk right in and stand next to you while they wait to go back. I asked the receptionist "are all these people coming in for coronavirus tests?" She says no. Whomever from the Midwest Express Clinic responded to my original comment, told me to call their office in Indiana. Well, that number doesn't work. Additionally, the staff at the Willowbrook, IL location lied about accounting for the bill being paid, escalating to management and billing, and notifying the collection company, who sent us a notification of collection, today. I will be calling the BBC and the Illinois Attorney General's office, unless this is rectified. My experience as it relates to friendliness and attention was great. However, I do not recommend getting follow up care here. I needed a covid test because I started feeling the symptoms, got in quickly enough, saw a dr and had the results the next day. They gave me no real instruction as what to expect. Fast-forward to seven days later, my fever started, coughing started, fatigue started, etc. I called the office explaining what was happening, doctor prescribed antibiotics along with an inhaler and prendisone. Five days later, no improvement so doctor put me on stronger meds. I was finally able to get in with my PCP, she immediately instructed me to stop prendisone and antibiotics! Said covid pneumonia is a viral pneumonia, not bacterial. She gave me benzonatate for my cough. Bottom line, only go here for an extreme emergency. Their equipment malfunctions and gives inaccurate results. My blood pressure reading was inaccurate as the Velcro on the cuff wouldn't hold! The QMA was holding the cuff down trying to get a reading twice! The provider charted that I have a mental retardation disease which is inaccurate. They were pushing me to schedule a follow up, so I could pay them additional cash. This visit was only for a pre-employment physical. The funny thing is, the same happened to my friend who needed a physical (bad equipment, inaccurate BP due to shitty equipment, and getting pushed to schedule follow up that is not necessary)! Finally I went in to see what was going on, the receptionist looked us up and I went back outside to wait...another 40 minute wait. Terrible service, if you can avoid them DO IT! Watch what you are being charged for! We went to get a Covid TESTING, our insurance is being billed for TREATMENT which is out of our pocket. We didn't get treatment.... just a test!! I've called multiple times trying to get this resolved. On hold for hours not able to get a hold of a real person. My own insurance rep called on our behalf with no success. This place already got paid by my insurance for the testing and are trying to scam us out of coding it as treatment. If I could give zero stars I would. It is against federal law to bill medicaid patients. They deny service based off an unpaid medical claim and balance billing a medicaid patient. Instead of contacting Medicaid and correcting their medical claim, they bill the patient as well, which is illegal. As the Medicaid patient it is not MY responsibility to get your medical claims paid every time I'm seen. You guys filled out the claim wrong and it's not MY problem. Every time I've gone there they deny service based off a bill that's not even MY responsibility to pay. Midwest express billing department needs to fill out their medical claims CORRECTLY and stop billing and denying service to Medicaid patients! They won't contact insurance to correct their claim as they should, they just double bill the patient illegally and deny service. I have never been denied service for a bill from any other doctor or urgent care ever, yet Midwest has done this multiple times. I see a lot of doctors and specialists, NOBODY else double bills me or denies me service. I shouldn't have to contact my Medicaid insurance every time and 3 way call Midwest billing, it's THEIR responsibility to have their medical claims paid. Receptionists are extremely rude, billing department is a joke and the visit itself involves rude medical assistants who don't take your vitals or care about you whatsoever!!! The doctors are usually friendly but the rest of the staff is rude and condescending. Guess what Melissa at Schererville Midwest, the bill wasn't MY responsibility to pay, you guys had to have the claim corrected and couldn't deny me service, which is exactly what I told you, MA'AM. My experience day 1 was good, but was horrible the next day. Day 1: They made me feel very comfortable and were very informative. I've been in a lot of pain and was having trouble walking or bending my toe. The nurse practitioner had told me that my X-Ray would be available the next morning for pick up with no needed appointment. She had also told me that it looked like I had a bone spur, but the radiologist would give me full diagnosis later. Day 2: When I arrived to retrieve my documents of prognosis, there was a lady who gave me my paperwork. As I stood there reading my sheet I mentioned that this did not say anything as to what was going on with me. She rudely stated that it's right there saying it's normal. I called later in confusion seeing that the people who saw me at the clinic stated something was going on with my toe. When I called the clinic to say that I had a question as to my results that I picked up earlier. The lady rudely said my name and that she already told me it was normal. I asked how she knew my name and she said it was on the caller I.D. What if it was not me calling from my phone. This is person medical information that should not be disclosed freely. This unpleasant situation was magnified by this person who apparently was the one in charge. I have to say that this one one person will definitely have a negative impact on the customer care aspect that this clinic is working hard to achieve. read more

Expensive!!!!! A cold cost me $355. Pay attention to the bill you received and make sure everything is correct. I visited for a cold on March 23. I got antibiotic from Howkins Nicole and had a follow up visit in a week and everything was fine. It cost $246 for my first cold visit and another $109 for the follow up. My insurance covered $150. I really regret doing the follow up. And I am contacting their billing department for details. read more

Worst experience ever. I went in for a broken wrist. She took x rays of a different part of my arm, even after I explained where the pain was coming from. Understanding maybe she knew what was she was doing, I went along with it. She asked me if I wanted a cast, but she said didn't see anything broken. So she put a full cast on, up to my shoulder and asked me to come in again at the end of the week. When I arrived back in Friday, she laughed and made a joke that she accidentally confused me with another patient who had also broken their arm. Not funny at all. She took more x rays-- of the correct area this time, and found that I had actually broken my wrist. She explained that I wouldn't have to pay for the visit and additional set of x rays, as it was their fault for the oversight, but when I asked for something in writing she said the owner would send me a follow up email. Never received that email, and now they sent my account to a collection agency. Absolutely terrible service, and I would never wish their incompetence on another patient. Should I ever need to go to an urgent care in the future, I will definitely be going to any other one in the area. I am very disappointed, and I hope by sharing this experience, it will prevent this from happening to someone else. read more

I would NOT recommend these clinics for any healthcare needs. My husband went for COVID -19 testing on May 1st to Schererville location. We were told before we went and while there that results should be completed within 48 to 72 hours. Waited 3 days with no calls so we decided to call clinic ourselves. My husband was told results were not in but he would receive test message when results were in and he could confirm a virtual appt to get results. Got that text on Tuesday and confirmed virtual appt but he still ended up calling and she worker says there are no results but not to worry that he would have them no later then Wednesday the 6th. Called Wednesday the 6th at 6:50pm after receiving no call all day and the lady who answered the phone said there are no results in but try back. Here we are today May 7th... called again and Jennifer says there are no results. She did not offer any help into looking into the delay, all she said is he should call back . When my husband asked to speak to someone in charge, her response is "there is no one in charge". I figured I would call another Indiana location to see if they could help direct me to someone in charge and Annie ( or Amy,she said it so quickly and wouldn't repeat name)from Crown Point told me her phones are ringing off the hook and she cannot help with Schererville problems. When I told her that was a disappointing response for someone who works in the healthcare field she chuckled ,said she was busy & hung up. I've called the patient advocate number for both Indiana & Illinois ( who is the same person) and have not received a call back. Their lack of putting patient care first is disappointing. I know their specimens go out to Quest and I called them directly and was told any/all specimens received by Midwest on Friday and Saturday have been completed! So why does my husband not have any results?? Did they lose his specimen????I don't know because no one will answer any questions. Girls are rude. I will look on Joint Commission website for any number or name of someone I can speak to about this. There are thousands of people dying from this disease and the lack of concern for husband results is nothing like we have ever seen before. update: We had to call clinic again ourselves today around 5:45pm because of course he hasn't received any calls. Blanche ( may spelled wrong, spelling is based how I heard it on the speaker phone) indicated that his chart doesn't show anything. As if he never had swab done???? Did they lose it? Mislabel it? Of course she had no answers but either way UNACCEPTABLE!!! Completely UNACCEPTALE!! I've also read a ton of views and we better NOT receive a bill for a lost/mislabeled specimen. He waited outside for one hour for them to come to the car to do the swab and now they don't show anything. Again just have no words for this TERRIBLE ( lack of) service. I waited over an hour for service although I had an appointment and was repeatedly asked if I actually made the appointment. While waiting I was continually asked the same health background questions by a number of employees, never the same person. When I was finally seen, my appointment was very quick and I received a phone call days later to let me know the physician assistant did not obtain enough sample and my test results were inconclusive. Friendly Staff, well maintained waiting room and patient rooms. I have been here a total of 5 times for my son. Twice for diagnosis, three times for a follow-up. He had been diagnosed with respiratory infection for both. I was told unfortunately Children can have respiratory infections back to back, so many in a single yr. As the case for my son. With the help of Dr. Hawkins and Dr. H Gutierrez, my son got better and I am grateful for the professionalism and care. I know my son is in good hands coming here. read more

I thought the people were nice that I saw when I went there a few days ago, to have a lab test and get an RX for antibiotics, as my UHC healthcare NP arranged the appointment, BUT when I tried to get the lab test report, their website didn't work and the woman I spoke to when I called refused to help after MANY failed attempts to access their LOUSY website, so she insisted that I come in for a "Follow up visit", but since all I needed was the report, then she insisted that I come to get it in person, so my neighbor drove me there, but what I was given was ONE page with a few numbers on a 99% single blank page!!! It was NOT a report of anything! It's obvious that this place is only interested in billing to stuff their pockets and NOT in providing decent healthcare! I would like to preface this review by saying I didn't want to leave it and instead tried calling the number left in response to other poor reviews of this clinic (219-525-1650). I tried this number 3 times and each time the automated message cut out and I was left with silence. -- I had an awful time this morning (1/8/20), but I didn't even step foot into the clinic. The receptionist was extremely rude and degrading over the phone. I had an 8 am time slot, and they open at 8 am, so I can only assume I was one of the first calls of the day. I was treated more respectfully by the cashier at the Panera drive thru than I was by this receptionist. The receptionist was extremely rude to me when I was only asking questions based on what a previous physician told me during a telehealth visit. I decided to cancel my appointment all together this morning even though I was all checked in and sitting in the parking lot because I didn't want to have any more interactions with this receptionist. If you are only looking to go to this clinic to get tested for Covid 19 and don't need a medical exam, I HIGHLY recommend going somewhere else where you are charged solely for a covid test (around $30) instead of paying for the checking of your vitals and oxygen level, a covid test and a physician check up (around $200 - cost estimate according to the receptionist working 8 am on 1/8/20). read more
