Every person I interacted with (including over the phone with the presurgery nurse and the check-in receptionist) was competent, respectful, and extremely kind. I was given the opportunity to speak to my gastrologist, Dr. Hillary Bownick, and the anesthesiologist, Dr. Kathleen Berger-Gillen and her assistant Emily, prior to the procedure. I spoke to each one individually at which time they each did an excellent job of explaining the procedure, and offered me the opportunity to ask questions. While in the procedure room, they explained everything they were doing BEFORE they did it. Everyone was very competent, respectful, and extremely kind to me. I especially want to acknowledge and express my appreciation for their empathy and extreme kindness about my request for an all female medical team. I am a rape survivor and have diagnosed PTSD from being extremely, horribly abused by two male doctors in 1993. So all of my doctors are women, but patients do not get to choose nurses, technicians, or anesthesiologists at hospitals, surgical or screening centers. I can not overstate how grateful I am for their kind response to my request and for arranging for me to have an all female team!! Thank you Mid America Surgery Institute!!!

The issue is the contacting them, because there simply is no contacting them. They've implemented a new AI, it does not work and in the past 2 hours I've gotten nowhere and wasn't able to speak to anyone, and now I am not sure if I will be able to get my necessary meds. The front desk staff was extremely disorganized and neglected their duties, severely impacting my health (again issues with getting meds and reffreals out to me/my pharmacy/other Doctor's offices), but this is far worse. I have choosen to take my care elsewhere, I feel very failed. They can not even put a real person on the phone. If you can get in the care is good, but it's impossible to access.

Had a two month plan that would help me get corrected, somewhere between $700.00. I informed them I want to pay per visit whatever was remaining from insurance. The problem came when I went to cancel my appointments because of workers comp. I informed the front office I was canceling my future appointments because workers comp would be taking over and I need to see their doctors. After informing them they called and told me I had a $120.00 bill because of previous visits. I told them to send me a bill, never received a bill. Got a call about 3 weeks later telling me it was $220.00. I would of returned after being released for work but not now. Not after being treated like a money sign because of workers comp. I'd go elsewhere, shady practice.

Each subsequent appointment with the doctor follows the same solid and empathetic reading of the patient visit and the options for outcomes. You always have the right to direct the treatment, but he has a guiding hand that is both experienced and attuned to the patient and the patient's family members. Highly recommended. The first time they were conceded that something severe/life threatening was wrong and they bumped me to front of the line. The second time we went on a Sunday afternoon, waited about 35 minutes to be seen. Then we only waited another 5-10 mins for the doctors. They got me a script and now I'm feeling much better. I felt the doctors and nurses I saw were knowledgeable. The front desk ladies were very kind and helpful. Do the polite thing and wear a mask if you have the flu or a cough. This keeps the waiting room more sanitary. Plus if you don't have the flu and are in for something else, you can go and not worry that you'll leave worse off than you came in. Everyone's insurance is different. If I go to this urgent care, I can pay the same co-pay I would at a regular doctor's office. But some plans have an increased "urgent care" co-pay so be advised. They will collect co-pay before you're seen. If you don't have insurance they'll give a cash discount that's $70.
