I spent nearly a week in the ICU with four broken ribs and never received a clear explanation as to why this happened. I had to take 8 weeks of unpaid leave under FMLA to recover, which caused serious financial strain. Despite this experience, I decided to try the procedure again in April 2025 at a different facility with Dr Park. Unfortunately, I experienced another serious complication. While recovering, it was discovered that Dr. Park had accidentally nicked an artery in my leg, causing a massive hematoma. I had to undergo emergency surgery by a vascular surgeon, and what should have been an overnight stay turned into another week in the hospital, followed by another 3 weeks of unpaid leave. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to speak with Dr. Park or someone in his office regarding what happened, the impact it's had on my health and finances, and my questions about billing. I was told I would not be allowed to speak with him, and no one has returned my three calls. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of accountability and communication. These complications -- both life-threatening -- and the complete absence of follow-up care or explanation are unacceptable. I personally believe Dr. Park takes on too much and moves too quickly, which may have contributed to the errors in my care. Please be cautious if you are considering this provider. My experience has been physically, emotionally, and financially devastating, and I am still dealing with the aftermath.

She was released the following Thursday with very little accomplished during her stay. Repeated a test for no apparent reason, not bathed all week, gave the wrong medication and did not inform us she was ready for discharge. Going back a week to her initial ER visit, I now understand why they didn't have a room for 36 hours to admit her - the disorganization is so bad they just can't move people through the process! It genuinely felt like they were bleeding the insurance company for every nickel they could - lots of wasted time. NEVER LET ANYONE TAKE YOU TO ADVENT! Horrible experience

A stent was inserted, and I survived. I've worked with him for seventeen years. He has always listened and understood. He's instructed me on how to live and survive - to always be young - through diet and lifestyle. He goes beyond the "I'll fix this" toward understanding and explaining. We are also both writers, and his book about lifestyle is wonderful, and he says he loves my books about Christmas. How can I not give this relationship where he saved my life five stars? Mid America Cardiology has a great patient portal (web site), "My Chart", that can be used to schedule appointments, send a message to your doctor, or get the results of the recent test. It doesn't matter where you live in the city, there is a Mid America Cardiology location close to you. So if you're in the market for a cardiologist, and think you deserve the best ... call Mid America Cardiology, unless, you're willing to settle for any ol' "run-of-the-mill doctor".

They submit insurance and tests in a way that will make you pay more. Then after the surprise billing, Good Luck. Get ready to waste your time fixing their error. Phone messages will not be returned. Dr. John Mahon has been my primary care physician since I moved back to Kansas City a few years…read moreago. He's associated with the Encompass Medical Group. My parents see another physician at the same medical group and recommended seeing him when I returned to K.C. Instead I was given an appointment with Dr. Mahon, and I've been extremely pleased with the care he has given me. Encompass is easy to get to, if you know where to find it! The office is near 87th and Quivira. Marshall Drive is the western frontage road of I-35. Just turn onto Marshall Drive from 87th Street and head north -- the building is on the left and marked "Encompass". Making an appointment with Dr. Mahon has always been easy, and Encompass seems to be very good about being prompt keeping appointment times. I've rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to see the doctor. Dr. Mahon is very pleasant and personable. It's a busy medical practice, but he always seems to have the time to listen to what's going on and discuss the problem thoroughly. I've never felt rushed when I see Dr. Mahon. When necessary he's referred me to specialists, but on the whole he seems to be able to handle most medical issues I've had. Conveniently, there are X-ray, sonogram, lab facilities, etc. at the medical office, so you can have procedures done there without having to go somewhere else to have blood drawn or images taken. Encompass also has some other medical offices around the metro, and has an after-hours urgent care clinic for evenings and weekends located near 103rd and Wornall, which can save a trip to the emergency room! Dr. Mahon can also be reached by e-mail, and responds promptly, when necessary, which I really appreciate. All in all, if you need a good, caring primary care physician, I can highly recommend him.
