I applied to a job listing in early May for a marketing position, and shortly after I was contacted via email by a representative of ER Select, or, Employee Relations Associates. Of course, the first order of business was for me to come in and meet with them. They instructed me to bring two forms of ID, and to dress business casual, which I obliged. I was set to meet with ER Select on May 7th at 1pm. I ended up meeting with Lacey, the director of recruiting operations for their Des Moines, IA office. We talked at great length about my previous experience in Marketing, what positions ER Select had available, as well as what career I was looking for. I felt we had a great rapport, the interview went great, and I was generally excited to find out what positions I could potentially be placed at; after having spoken to Lacey about all of the Wells Fargo positions they supposedly had upcoming. Everything sounded very promising. Lacey stated at the time that ER Select obtains positions pretty much all of the time, but when I met with her it was the end of the week, so I probably wouldn't hear anything until early next week when they usually hear of new positions. I never heard from Lacey, and so I followed up with her a few times; on one follow up, the overall tone of the call was if I was disturbing her, or she was too busy to talk. I got the impression that I probably shouldn't call back to check if they have any positions available. Ever. Lacey told me that whenever they got something in, they would call me. I probably made a total of three follow up calls at most, maybe not even that many. In any case, I wouldn't waste my time with ER Select. It's much better to deal with more professional, well established staffing firms who already have a solid footing in the Des Moines, IA metro area. According to ER Select's website, they've only been around since 2011. This is probably the reason why I had the experience that I did? And if ER Select doesn't like this review, then they need to take better steps EVERY TIME, and make a reasonable effort to be a resource for a job seeker. I would NOT recommend ER Select to anyone. They are a waste of time and space in Des Moines, IA.

A few months later, I was hired into a full-time position with this bank. ER Select helped me so much in getting me ready for the interview process for this position. Every few weeks, the agent who hired me from ER Select would come to the bank and check-in with me and see how I was doing. ER Select cared so much for me throughout my time with them and I cannot say enough about how much they mean to me. Absolutely AMAZING staff and incredible passion from all of their employees. She did not push me into any positions that did not seem to fit what I was looking for in my next job and she is very personable. Lee Smith and Associates is the finest employment agency I have ever worked with, bar none…read more Over the years my company has worked with a variety of medical and pharmaceutical sales recruiting agencies from all over the country, but never have we come across the likes of Lee Smith and Associates. Located in America's heartland, Lee Smith and Associates works their magic all over the United States (we're based in New England). Lee Smith and Associates' shining star (in my humble opinion) is a young man by the name of Mitch, whom we consider to be our companies greatest resource. Mitch is the very image of professionalism, knowledgeability and integrity. And trust me when I say, he knows the 'who's who' in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. Whenever we have an opening, Mitch is front and center with a roster of celebrity-status candidates (I'm talking crème de la crème) with lightning-fast speed. This companies followthrough is just as impressive as their network of employers and candidates. Not once have I had to ask for something a second time. Not once have my calls not been returned. And not once have they provided less than what we needed. If there's an award for excellence in the recruiting industry, Lee Smith and Associates deserves top honors.

Regardless, when I was unemployed and most needed their help, they completely abandoned me without any explanation. So, I would warn you to think twice about doing business with this particular staffing agency. They are callous and need to do better. Shame on Robert Half.

Assuming I don't get transferred to some voicemail to leave a message that's almost never returned, the agents always say the position has been filled, even if it was posted that day! The one time they said they did have a job available, it wasn't even vaguely related to my skills and interests; and it was for Wells Fargo, which is one of the worst companies that has ever existed. Also, they never respond to e-mails. Messing with Robert Half is a complete waste of time. This employment agency is an absolute joke. Do not use it.

I have family in Iowa, so I reached out to Remedy and asked for their help finding work. They found me a great job within a week of me reaching out to them while my family found me an apartment. I went from being incapable of paying for a place to stay and living in a basement to having my own two bedroom apartment and a full time job with overtime. Within 2.5 weeks of this conversation, the assignment mysteriously ends. This really put me in a bind financially as I went a few weeks without any income due to this foolishness. And I know for a fact Remedy is looking for another replacement because I saw the agency wide email sent out in regards to this after they let me go (I still have friends on the inside). Needless to say Stacy is petty and unprofessional, I would never return to Remedy again or recommend anyone else either. They also make you go through a scam artist company called Comdata if you want direct deposit. I had several problems with them and they charge fees for everything. There are far better temp agencies in Des Moines especially ones with higher paying jobs. In the end, I'm glad it worked out this way because my new assignment pays a much BETTER wage based on my experience and it's Remedy's loss.

Then I was taken into a room to do a typing test. I was told I would hear something back within a couple of days, crickets. I called and called and was constantly put off. They offer zooms which I thought would bore me... (I have some ADHD issues so I had my concerns) but I've always taken away great tips from each of them. You can do your job searches on their computers and file your weekly claim there too. I don't live far away so they aren't surprised if they see me more than once a day just to ask a question. If you have a question while on a computer, you just raise your hand and the helpful staff gets right to you and guides you through your questions.

Not only does Jen know the tools available, but she also knows what to use and when to use them for her clients. The Energy Leadership Index was a great tool for learning and was fast to take and gave me helpful feedback on my strengths and ways that I approach life and work, especially how I handle stress and challenging situations and relationships. What I liked best was that it was very thorough and to the point and quickly helped me become aware of things about myself that were good to have pointed out. These insights and understandings helped me find better ways to handle challenging situations and people in my life. Overall a terrific self-discovery experience and one where I learned a lot and felt encouraged and supported by my coach who was very knowledgeable.
