Do not use this company.They showed up after a house fire and let's just say if I didn't kick them off my property once I found out the way they were doing business they would have taken all the insurance claim and would have left me with a mess. Double the cost of any other person I talked to after the fact. 1/2 of the information, any of them told me was correct. MWR works with all insurance companies to ensure the owner's property/valuables are restored as best as possible, and the property is restored to pre-loss condition (as good, if not better, than before the loss). Referred to by a plumbing company which I will not mention. Did not see much damaged but was recommended to have someone come out and check. Received a call the very next day from Ryker at midwest restoration. I was prepared to schedule appointment but he said he was in the area and would be glad to stop by. After evaluating the situation he quoted us a price of 2000 dollars and wanted to keep us from filing a claim with insurance and not have to spend our deductible. Long story short they cut an 8 X 12 piece of my ceiling out and brought in these industrialized fans and plastic to seal the area in question. Anyway a week to 10 days went by and we heard nothing from the company. My wife called and the receptionist told her that we had X amount of days to pay them or we would have to pay late fees, interest etc. When we were finally sent the bill it was double what we were quoted. We immediately contacted our insurance company. Had to pay our 1000 dollar deductible. If you look at their google review it scores a 4.8. But on this site you get more of the REAL truth. This company are complete crooks!!!! Con artist and scams galore. The invoice billed us for an emergency visit?? Really?? I tried to schedule an appointment. These people and or company are complete snakes in the grass!!! Buyer beware!!!! There are more legitimate companies out there to choose from. DO NOT WASTE your time with this company. If I could leave zero stars I would. This company has proven to be inept and incapable of the work they promised. We experienced a house fire and it was a total loss in November 2023. It's daunting to know what to do next after the immediate shock of a house fire. We were recommended to use Midwest Restoration and Ryan was the first on the scene the day after the fire. We were told all the corporate BS, "We are a locally owned company", "We take pride in the work we do". We were told that our things would be removed from the home and brought to a warehouse. At some point in the future, we would be allowed to go through the inventory and decide to clean, discard, or keep with no cleaning. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. Instead, they dragged their feet on removing our items. We never had the opportunity to go through and decide what we wanted done with our items. In fact some of our salvageable electronics were sent to a 3rd party to clean and they charged us $13,000 to clean them. We never approved to clean anything. When we received an inventory list from Midwest we noticed many inconsistencies. The entire point of doing an inventory list is to assist us with insurance so we can receive compensation for items lost. So it would be helpful if the company we hired to do this was accurate. Midwest was far from accurate. Many items were left off the inventory list, some items were bundled together, and some items were pictured in boxes with no mention of what was in the box. There are some items that we explicitly told Midwest we needed to keep and to keep track of. They somehow managed to lose a high-end painting that my wife loved. We expressed our concerns to Midwest on several occasions. To Ryan, the Project Manager Dan, and the individuals on site. But time and time again we had no communication on how things would be fixed. We were being ignored. We understand that it was a cold December and that it was right before Christmas. However according to the final invoice - the work was completed on December 21st. That wasn't truly made clear to us until the middle of January. We went into the house and found many items still in the home along with their equipment. A dumpster was still in the yard as well. We had enough and my wife sent a letter to both HR and the owner Coyne. That resulted in an immediate response and a personal meeting at their location. We wanted to discuss why were being billed $13,000 from the 3rd party company and why Midwest was billing us $38,000 for work we never agreed to or took part in. This meeting was a joke - I recorded it. Coyne almost immediately started in with more corporate mottos and BS and how Midwest is a family. All nonsense, but we let him go on with how great they are. In our meeting they understood our concerns, were "surprised" at how Midwest still had equipment on our property (we were still being billed for it) We were told a few things in this meeting by both Coyne and the HR representative. They would have to "eat the $13000 bill from the 3rd party company." They would fix some of the billing and overcharges but would also " return our belongings FREE of charge" directly from the mouth of HR. We still had to pay the $13000 and Coyne later refused to pay the bill even though in our meeting he told us he would. He said because we signed something it was our problem. Well, Coyne - the only reason this company had our items - was because your employees are bad at what they do. Plain and simple. We finally had insurance pay Midwest on the final invoice after they adjusted only a few things. We called them to set up a date to have them return our inventory. HR then told us they would charge us for 16 hours of labor and bill us $1200 to move our items!! Yeah no! It's like it's their first-day doing business. But one thing is clear with Midwest. They are truly vultures and are only in this for the insurance money, regardless of what their crappy company mottos proclaim. Avoid this company at all costs. To be a fire victim is one thing - but to have to go through all the nonsense with Midwest. The fire pales in comparison. read more

I had a 2nd floor plumbing leak that left my kitchen ceiling water damaged and in need of replacement. Ryker was there a few hours after the plumbers had left. about 445pm, later received in the detailed billing a $257 charge for an emergency call, it was not an emergency. He just decided he had time to stop by. Like in other reviews, he went on the non corporate, local business deal, sounded like a solid sales pitch. This was an insurance claim so I wasn't really worried about costs or anything, I just wanted to have a functional kitchen ASAP. Work began the next day and for the next three days I was unable to use my kitchen because it was barriered and drying. I get it, its the process. Eventually it is dried up and they take their equipment out and "cleanup". They left plenty of debris around and my daughter and I cleaned up the rest of the floor and countertops. Weeks go by with zero communication from Midwest or my insurance company. I start receiving invoices and past due invoices. It turns out, without my knowledge, that Midwest and my insurance company are going back and forth trying to negotiate a fair price without any progress. I eventually feel like I am on the hook for the $4,500, so I ask to see a detailed invoice. Why would anyone in their right mind agree to pay that money without actually seeing what they are paying for? I get more detailed invoices from ANYwhere I go or ANY service I have done. Apparently sending the customer (whom they claim to care so much about) a detailed invoice isn't common practice. Upon reading thru the invoice, several discrepancies arise, from charging for moving household objects around ( which there were none) to charging 12 hours for equipment setup and monitoring. There daily check took no more than 15 min, and its surely doesn't take ANYone 2 hours to plug in a few fans and a dehumidifier. Ryker also agreed that they charged for a piece of equipment that wasn't there. My main issue is when you find one piece of dishonesty where they are trying to scam more money off of insurance companies, where does that dishonesty end? They were not transparent at all with me. They refused to negotiate their BS billing with my insurance adjuster who rightfully called them out on several things. They did a piss poor job on cleanup and because of their actions they lost out on the rebuild. 8 weeks later and still the job isn't done. This was such a small job for them, I can now understand why they wouldn't really care too much about it. I can also see now how little they care about getting their customers house back in the working order it was once in. Overall just really poor communication and dishonesty, a surefire way NOT to run a business, but unfortunately in the long run, I am sure they will be just fine. read more

We experienced an extensive house fire and were devastated. While I am watching fire crews handle the fire I was so cold and a gentleman stating he was with the Red Cross invited me into his truck so I could get warm. He suggested I find a REALLY good restoration company so I asked for a recommendation and he handed me a Midwest Restoration business card and I went with them. Later in the day when I was to meet all the crew from Midwest to discuss plans, their was the owner of MWR, Coyne, the same guy who posed as a Red Cross volunteer. (Red Flag #1) Kelly in charge of contents is awesome, thorough, and communicates professionally. Billy in charge of demo is honest and fair. Andrew is great too. Ryan spearheading clean up and video lied to me me 3 times in the first 3 days (red flag #2). I requested he be removed from project. Midwest left our home UNLOCKED 3 TIMES (Red Flag 3,4,5). VANDALISM?... wild animals??? We interviewed another company and only stayed with MWR because of Kelley. They stopped communicating effectively with our insurance company delaying rebuild. They cut wires we told them NOT to cut as they are connected to our sub pump. YES! You guessed it---- BASEMENT FLOODED ---- another claim with insurance AND delay in rebuild. FIRED!! We immediately found another company and have been THRILLED! Compassionate/ EXCELLENT communication/ and efficient I found out later the owner runs a credit report on the "fire" home owners to see their value and estimates his $$$ and he charges 40% commission on his "expertise" and other contractors charge 20%. I have talked to so many people who have been affected negatively by Midwest Restoration. It's sad because as a homeowner who is going through one of the most traumatic experiences you need compassion and support ... not a negative experience like I had read more
