It doesn't get any better than that. The second time was for my brake pads and rotor replacement. Fiix is so convenient for a busy person like myself. I was making dinner while Jamel (my assigned mechanic) was Fiix(ing) my car! It was great, I was even asking questions (because I am curious like that) and Jamel was patient and very knowledgeable! To me, customer service starts even before you walk into the door of a store; its how you are treated from the start to finish of the transaction. At around 8pm (after work is most convenient, and yes they cater to that!) I got a call from Jamel letting me know hes on his way to my place to Fix my car, he asked me if I wanted him to bring me a coffee and gave me a time that he would be there. The quality of work really shows as well! Fiix used brand new parts that they opened in front of me, as opposed to other mechanics who do their work in the back so you don't know what they are using! I was on vacation and couldn't do his service so he told me one of his friends referred this mechanic too my buddy. I warned him and he didn't listen and ended up taking the car there anyways. he did his regular maintenance services and what not, but then the mechanic there claimed it needed new pads cuz they were squeaking and low.. I checked those pads they have about 50% life left and they did have a squeak, which we all know it just needa a brake service. not an entire replacement. he takes advantage of people with less mechanical knowledge and what not knowing theyll fall for it anyways giving him the win and scam he was digging for. steer away and stay safe from this shop. upselling and scamming is his precision expertice.

Without an appointment he lifted my car to take a look at what was wrong and proceeded to show me, in detail (and plain english) what was wrong with my brakes, exhaust etc. I knew I needed brake and exhaust work, and all other mechanics I visited gave me a rough estimate without explaining how, why or what specific work was required. Dave was happy to have me watch as he inspected my car, and then gave me a very fair estimate. When I picked up my car the next day, the final bill was actually less than he estimated, plus he changed the air filter (something he noticed that needed to be done while he was working on the car) Definitely a positive experience with a trustworthy mechanic in Toronto. Not the closest most convenient location to me (I live downtown), but just north of Finch Subway station (either walk or bus). I'll definitely be seeing Dave again next time my car has any trouble, and will be recommending him to family and friends.

He was friendly with me on my first visit, but was rather cold on the second. When I said that I want to disconnect a theft-protection sensor under the hood (a common practice for Mazdas of this generation), he explained to me that it is not easy to do and told me to go home and do it in my spare time. - Well, why would I drive there in the first place if I wanted to do the dirty jobs myself? I said I also want to check the transmission mount, but he interjected that the next customer was already waiting for him. He didn't follow up if I wanted to schedule another appointment. Second, the wait times and punctuality. Both times I visited him I arrived on time. Both times I had to wait while he was busy with something else or taking calls. And that's another thing: he doesn't have a secretary, so he has to take calls which sometimes last 15 minutes. On my second visit the job (replacing the horn) took him about 15 minutes. Another 55 minutes were spent with me waiting while he was in his "office". Third, the sneaky pricing. On my first visit he told me the labor would be 70 CAD, on the second visit it was suddenly 75 CAD. And that's in addition to the 60 CAD diagnostic charge for this trivial problem after my first visit. All in all, I paid 152 CAD for labor alone for replacing a faulty car horn. Not too bad, actually, in Toronto prices. But, unfortunately, I will not be coming back with the rest of the issues my car has accumulated over the years.
