Not as pleasant (IMHO) as the Torrens trail to Henley Beach, but just as convenient for those who happen to live along it. But hey, it ain't alongside a river, so what can you expect? Like the Torrens trail, the Mike Turtur Bikeway is being slowly redone to make it a little more user-friendly. More lights and trees - that kinda stuff. The path runs alongside the tram tracks all the way to Glenelg. Considering how slow the trams are, I would say you're probably able to beat the tram home.
Unfortunately there are a number of confusing detours, but if you follow the simple logic that you need to get back to the side of the tram line, you should be fine. Stay aware of this around the Goodwood tram stop, further down near South Rd, and instead of taking the underpass (which requires dismount) take Victoria St on the left. Not necessarily a leisure ride - the scenery isn't amazing (although I love being able to peer into other people's backyards...) and I'd prefer to ride to Henley than Glenelg. Nonetheless a reasonably functional bike path that will keep you safe from traffic. read more
