I've used mikes services for years and have always paid him for his services after I received my tax refund. this year he decided not to file my taxes until I told him how I was going to pay and/or provided payment? without communicating to me that he needed anything else from me. he put me in a real bind financially as I have been waiting on this tax return since I filed on February 7th and today is March 3rd and he just submitted my taxes today after unprofessionally only responding to my mother. will not be using him again in the future. read more

We get it bad in Minnesota, too, where tax season falls during the coldest time of the year. Not only are we freezing, but we're inconvenienced. It's a double whammy. This is where Mike's Tax Service changes things. First, he comes to you; he'll meet at your house, at a coffee shop, at a pizza joint, wherever! He's based out of Plymouth so try to keep it local, but give him a call if your further out. He's truly worth it! This year I decided to hire a tax professional because I had a couple of major events happen in 2016, and I felt my return would be a little more complicated than usual. I was right, it was, but Mike was there to help out. I found him here on Yelp and we met up at a pizza joint and went over everything he'd need to know; Ask him in advance what documents you'll need to bring, but for this reason, he meets in your home, taxes are most certainly a personal affair and you'll be using a lot of official jargon like "Social Security Number". Don't let that scare you, though, Mike is very straight forward. He was thorough and maintained good communication after our first meeting. He did lots question asking, which was great, because it gave me a chance to think about things I may not have thought about before, like additional deductions or work related expenses. During our second meeting he met at my apartment, went over my expected refund, gave me an idea of the timeline, answered any questions I had and was on his way. Someone else used the term "hassle free", and they nailed it. In this day and age, there's a lot of fear surrounding tax season, because it can feel complicated and difficult to do. I think this is where meeting one-on-one with someone who does it for a living is really important. His phone number listed is a personal number, so don't expect a gimmicky answering service. This guy is the real deal. I will certainly seek his services next year, as he was a personable guy to work with and made me feel comfortable. I had been using TurboTax for the past several years to file our taxes, even with purchasing a couple of rental properties and managing them on our own.
