My wife and I recently hired Mila to be our wedding photographer. We had our small wedding ceremony in Chicago in May. She went above and beyond anything we could've hoped for during such an important occasion. She was extremely professional during all steps of the process making sure to call us before our ceremony so she would have an idea of the look we were going for in poses and photo locations. On our wedding day, she arrived early and continued to ask us more questions about what we were looking for in our photos. She was more than happy to take our suggestions on which poses we wanted to do and camera angles we wanted to experiment with. Even though we had already told her which locations we wanted pictures taken in, she was also professional enough to take pictures in completely unexpected locations that we walked by as we were headed to other previously selected locations. When we received our photos, we couldn't be happier. They turned out great! Even better than what we were expecting. Unprofessional is the nicest thing I have to say about Mila. The night before my family's scheduled photo shoot she e-mailed a contract stating it needed to be signed or she would cancel the session. The problem was that there were several conflicting statements. Most troubling is the "Privacy" and "Copyright" sections of her contract. Signing this contract meant signing away any privacy of my family's images or copying the images to make things like holiday cards (which pretty much defeated the point of a family picture). I highly recommend anyone seeking Mila's services read her contract carefully in advance. Some of the inconsistencies for my situation are listed below: 1. Half of the session fees needed to be paid 7 days prior to the photo shoot which was impossible since she sent the contract the day before the shoot. 2. She verbally said it was okay to have a picture as your desktop background but the contract stated no pictures could be on your desktop or phone. 3. In the "payment" section it was clear that she did not honor the Groupon $200 worth of services, she only applied the purchased amount of $58. The session was scheduled in the time frame in which the Groupon was valid. I spoke with Mila and asked for these items to be amended before signing the contract but she refused and canceled the photo shoot. I explained that my family members had arranged work schedules and had traveled for this photo shoot but it did not make a difference to her. Mila shot our maternity photos this past February. I was a bit nervous about shooting our photos as I kept hearing that it's either a hit or miss with maternity photos. From the start Mila made things comfortable for us which was reassuring as we shot our session. Having the Chicago skyline as our backdrop was very important to us. This was our first family photo experience, and Mila made us feel comfortable from the moment she met us. Mila was a really excellent photographer to work with. She was quick to respond during our initial conversations (even when they were late at night), so we were able to make decisions about scheduling real fast. She made some excellent location choices in the chicago land area, and once we chose a location which we liked, she immediately agreed to the spot even though it was more than an hours drive for her. Once we had our shoot scheduled, she gave us tips on Maternity dresses and also showed us samples of the choices she had with her. On the day of the shoot, she was at the agreed spot on time and was very friendly and warm. She developed a level comfort with us upon meeting and talked to us about our backgrounds to get to know us better. She was an excellent photographer capturing some very romantic moments real quick which were not staged. She had some excellent suggestions during our shoot to make us look real amazing and cute. She was patient when we had to take breaks and was not counting the minutes of her time with us. She gave us a quick idea of what to expect when she completes the shoot and as to when we would get our photos back. She has been prompt and direct in all our communications, so we knew what to expect during our session and the timeline for receiving the photos back. We would highly recommend Mila for anybody looking for a photographer. We only wish she did new born shoots as well. We will defintely hire her again when a chance arises!! read more
