I don't usually go for the shrimp which is standard in a lot of places around here. I love shrimp, but when you cook it in some kind of curry, it usually gets over cooked and stringy - hard to avoid. The same can be said of any meat really, but the chicken in the red curry was cooked to perfection. Surprisingly, it was tender and not over cooked and tough. I'm optimistic that they can pull off the shrimp. We shall see... This place is very small, with only 8 or 9 tables - not a bad thing - cozy and quaint with faux leather table cloths and wicker chairs. It's dated, and the carpets need to go, but clean and orderly. They're getting some competition right down the street, and I'm curious to see how that plays out in the coming months. For all I know, half the places I review in Cleethorpes will be out of business in a year. Some cities are like that, especially holiday destinations - massive turnover. This place has been here a while. There has to be a reason.

The food here is much better. Also I still think for the money it is a great little restaurant especially at luchtime. There is a choice of a few set menus from lunch till early evening all at a great price. If you ask for a jug of iced water they do not charge. They do serve alcohol and teas. However English tea is served with cream and is yukky. The chinese soups such as Pei Wah is lovely. It has survived since the sixties so must be pretty good. Toilet facilities are basic but clean. It is open ebery day of the week till late. It has a good central position near to the Interchange (bus station etc) and shops. Don't let the outside put you off. Only 4 stars due to the look of the place.

The special's board is what to look at rather than the Italian menu, in my opinion. We had the Crab Diable and Smoked Salmon Cornettos (stuffed with prawns in Marie rose sauce) to start, both of which were wonderful and very satisfying. For mains we had Lemon Sole and Monkfish - you are then given a selection of ways to have it prepared, grilled, fried, on/off the bone etc and a choice of sauces with a recommendation on which suits the texture/flavour of the fish the best. We went with the recommendation and were very pleased. It is not cheap and it is quite, shall we say, snug, but all in all I would heartily urge that you visit this fantastic eatery.
