I showed up not expecting much, to be honest. However inside it was cozy, although perhaps not all the seating is the most comfortable. There is a menu with drinks, desserts, and meals as well. Surprisingly, many of the dishes were vegetarian and even vegan, and all of them were labeled appropriately on the menu. Unfortunately the cakes themselves didn't seem to be vegan, so I settled for a hot drink instead.
What makes this cafe a step above any other cafe, however, is the bookstore. In a room upstairs and a few downstairs, as well as on the patio area, are thousands of used books. Each one costs only €1. So you can browse while you sip your drink, or pick up a little something to enjoy while sitting in the cafe. Or you can just get a few books to go. Any way you slice it, the idea is pretty great. I ended up buying 7 books...
My only real complaint is that they have WiFi but it's not set up properly to work with Macs... at least I am assuming that is the case, as my friend got it to work on her computer, and others with PCs also were using it, but it was not compatible with my computer (which, by the way, worked fine an hour later using wireless elsewhere). So needless to say, I didn't get much accomplished in the way of work. Still, I would recommend book lovers check Cafe Tasso out.
