I came to Mile High Psychiatry seeking answers about possible ADHD after years of high-functioning masking and a noticeable decline in coping after becoming a parent. During an early consult, my provider (Denise) even said it sounded like I had both inattentive and hyperactive ADHD. However, after I took the Creyos test, she reversed course entirely, diagnosing me only with generalized anxiety disorder and postpartum depression, recommending we increase my Lexapro and add Buspar. When I asked for clarification on my test results -- and mentioned I'd looked up a couple of scores online but was taking them with a grain of salt -- the tone shifted to condescending. She seemed dismissive of my lived experiences and concerns, and gave me no concrete plan for what would happen if Buspar didn't address my symptoms. When I expressed my feelings (without being hysterical), I was met with coldness, not curiosity or collaboration. The Creyos test is essentially computerized games in a quiet, controlled setting -- not at all reflective of daily life for someone masking ADHD symptoms in a distracting, real-world environment. My anxiety "score" was based solely on me rating my internal restlessness as an 8, without clarification that she defined "anxiety" differently than I did. This lack of clarity and context led to a misdiagnosis and treatment plan that didn't address the root of my struggles. I also tried to request my results through medical records as advised. Paul in records was polite, but said Denise hadn't approved the release. Ten days later, I still had nothing. Ultimately, I got a second opinion with a new provider outside Mile High Psychiatry. I was officially diagnosed with combined-type ADHD (inattentive + hyperactive) and finally feel heard and understood. I'm grateful I sought that second opinion, because my experience here left me questioning myself and feeling invalidated. If you are a woman, postpartum, or someone who has learned to mask ADHD symptoms, please be aware that not every provider here may have the training or approach to see past "average" test scores and truly listen to your history and daily challenges. read more

Everything was fine until I started flying in and out of Denver monthly. My provider at this location proceeded to overdose me on valium in August, insisting I take it 3 times a day every day. I followed his instructions and began blacking out that very week. The following week, I cut back and took one more work trip. When I flew back in to Denver from sea level, I became euphoric and was even still messed up when I saw my provider the next morning. He called it closure but as we know now, I wasn't getting enough oxygen to my brain. The provider misdiagnosed me as manic, told that lie to my now ex primary care, locked me out of my patient portal, disappeared and subsequently caused my care to be delayed for months. I now have brain injuries and an attorney. I look forward to my day in court. Stay away from this place. Shady and dangerous. read more

I was a patient at Mile High Psychiatry in 2021, 2022, and 2023. During that time, my insurance benefits fully covered my visits, or so I thought. My meetings were via TeleHealth (some of this was still during Covid). Before some of my appointments, the virtual receptionist would say that "there may be an issue with your insurance"... I said ok, please have your people call me, and we'll work it out... "Can you pay $100 now?" "Sure", I'd say, and proceed with payment. Now, 3 1/2 years later, a guy drives by, drops a summons in my front yard, and drives off - says I owe MHP over $2,100.00?!? I repeatedly asked them to call me regarding any insurance issues - they didn't. Their own "Attendance Policy" states that "ALL FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL PRIOR TO YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT". But, instead of calling me, they just kept scheduling me, and kept racking up my bill. MHP missed (didn't record) at least $300.00 in payments I made to them, and can't be bothered, or care enough, to call me back or make it right. Guess I have to go to court now. I'd stay away from this practice; they're shady, uncommunicative, and dishonest. I saw them for years. A few days ago they told me they will no longer take my insurance out of the blue and that I have a 60 day discharge period to finalize everything with them... Meanwhile they also cancelled my next appointment well within that window and are treating me like it's effective immediately. I am so miffed that I am looking into the legality of how they've approached this. They stated it affects all Medicaid patients equally. However, I have other friends and family with the same insurance who haven't been given the same boot and cold treatment. On another review someone has a 90 day discharge period. I was given 60. Why is that? That's not equal. Why are they treating people with the same insurance differently? Anyway, I received solid care as a working disabled woman with PTSD and autism up until they decided I wasn't worth seeing, not even within their own discharge window. They're happy to charge your insurance until they can't- but if they can't, just know that you're not a person to these people and they will unceremoniously and randomly drop you for a dime. They are scumbags looking only for insurance providers they can overcharge. I will NEVER go here again regardless of what insurance I have in the future. read more

I was so excited to see that this place took Medicaid since I was in desperate need of my ADHD medication. I was assigned to a NP with terrible bedside manner( she called me fat even though she was definitely pushing a BMI of 30 ) , poor understanding of how lab corp made appointments, ran unnecessary tests to over charge my insurance ! To top it all off she refused to prescribe the medication even after I submitted a blood test that proved I had no drugs in my system. IMHO You're wasting your time with this place. Go see a provider in person, take the drug screening, and avoid the hassle I encountered. I have since been able to get my ADHD meds without the shaming. read more

HORRIBLE ORGANIZATION -- STAY FAR AWAY! This is a so-called mental health organization that makes it nearly impossible to get real help -- and then has the audacity to CHARGE YOU for THEIR mistakes. I called multiple times the day before and the day of my appointment, plus emailed my doctor, yet they still slapped me with a $125 no-show fee. It is NOT MY fault that no one ever answers the phone, and you cannot cancel/reschedule appointments online. Every session I had here was useless. My doctor spent more time talking about herself than actually helping me. I left every appointment feeling worse, not better. The entire process is a nightmare: appointments are hard to make, impossible to change, no one answers the phone, and the staff is shockingly rude. They do not care about patients. I have been a patient here for 3+ years. They recently fired my psychiatrist because they no longer accept Medicaid. I was told I would be transferred to another doctor and never was. A month later I called and asked for a new psychiatrist. They set me up with Elizabeth Selander. I did not connect with this doctor, and explained it wouldn't be the right fit. She did not give me the option to see another practitioner in the office. She canceled all my care and with no notice all of my medications. I've been on these meds for 5+ years and get very bad physical withdrawals when off them. She knows this, being a psychiatrist. Elizabeth Selander cancelled vital prescriptions I hadn't had the chance to pick up with no notice to me, leaving me with no meds going through terrible withdrawals. I will not recommend this practice to anyone, and I will be very vocal of my experience here, especially after this practice fired 40% of their doctors. I felt like I was dealt with horribly and doctors should be responsible for knowing withdrawals and possible side effects. I do not recommend seeing Elizabeth Selander. Literally such a horrible institution! I was stuck with this organization for about 2 years. I was released from a rehab facility on psychiatric medications and I was on Medicaid at the time. This place was "recommended" because they accepted Medicaid and got me in relatively quickly. That's where my positive experience with MHP began AND ended. Luckily they did place me with a phenomenal provider, whom I am still seeing at a different practice. They left MHP because they are not only awful, unresponsive, and negligent to their clients but also to their own providers. I would not trust a provider that trusts MHP. Every time I needed to reschedule an appointment, get a refill, or help with ANYTHING (prior authorization, link for appointment, question for my provider, etc.) I was left on hold for 45 minutes or longer, and at least half of the time nobody even answered the phone even after the hold DURING BUSINESS HOURS. And when they do answer they are absentminded, act uninterested, and your problem never gets resolved. I was waiting on a prior authorization for a new medication for over two months and eventually had to have my provider prescribe me something else because their office/support staff is either incompetent or simply negligent. This is NOT the place to go if you need help. They are not friendly, they are not helpful, and they have no problem never calling you back or solving your issue. I'm certain that my (seriously awesome) provider left because I was not the only client who was torn. I love working with her but got absolutely no support from MHP as a whole. Luckily shortly after I got off Medicaid and onto a commercial insurance plan, she left MHP and I was also able to leave this crap establishment in the dust. I also work in healthcare. Mental health, to be precise, and I know how EASY things like prior authorizations are- ESPECIALLY with a Medicaid patient. It is actually offensive that this place is able to still see patients. They DO NOT CARE if you go without your medications or if something comes up and you can't make your appointment. They won't answer, they will act annoyed, and ultimately you will be left fending for yourself. PLACES LIKE THIS ACTUALLY TURN PEOPLE OFF FROM ADDRESSING THIER MENTAL HEALTH. In a world with so much stigma already, to feel like an annoyance to a place that you're going to for HELP, is actually pathetic, sad, and utterly unacceptable. Your mental health deserves so much better than MHP chooses to provide. Just don't do it. Go somewhere else because you deserve genuine, compassionate care if you are reaching out for support or help. I'm sure they have *some* decent providers but the core of this company is (can't say it enough) NEGLIGENT. The good providers won't last here because they will see how MHP treats their clients at some point. I wonder if it was because I was a Medicaid patient that they treated me so poorly, but either way it was just one disappointment after another. I am so glad I can breathe easy and have my needs met at the practice I am now a client of. MHP needs to be shut down, immediately. Got me started on Effexor, upped the dose twice and then refused to see me when I ran out because I missed an appointment and I had to deal with withdrawals from having to cold turkey quit high dose Effexor on my own. if you want actual medication management from a staff who cares about your mental wellbeing this is not the place to go. Maybe the worst I have ever experienced with a so called medical care team. My wife passed away a couple days ago. I was trying to re-up a prescription for my special needs daughter with a seizure disorder. They said they couldn't as she hadn't been a patient since 2023. That was not true. She has been having regular 90 virtual meetings with one of their nurse practitioners since then. Apparently that person has left their practice (probably a good thing for her). Their position... we can't provide your anti-epileptic meds until we can schedule you for an in person evaluation. And we all know how long those take. So, essentially, their position was... just go ahead and deal with the seizures!!!! Unbelievable. I'm thinking of what I might do to bring malpractice action. I've been a patient for over 2 years now. My doctor is great & I appreciate the accessibility to care... BUT if your pharmacy ever has to contact the office, the office will not respond. You will literally have to call every. single. time. and be the go between. Which includes long wait times and not being informed that your prescription isn't being processed. This is not a one off experience. It's happened numerous times at different pharmacies. My current pharmacy has tried to process my insurance authorization 19 times without response. If you have the option to go somewhere else - I HIGHLY recommend you take it. They waste no time trying to get your $20 copay (before it's even hit your account) but can't do their actual job. read more

This practice is the reason why people are apprehensive about seeking psychiatric care. My patient rights were violated, and I have not been able to contact anyone from the practice. Let's explore how Kristen V. Dale violated my patients one by one. Right to accurate billing. Kristen showed up for a 60-minute appointment over 30 minutes late. We spent 20 minutes together. Due to her admitted delay, she said I would need two intake appointments, and she would charge me for both. There's more. Kristen Dale charged me for a 60-minute session during the first intake appointment. She also billed insurance for going over 15 minutes (we did not). This is against the contract with Cigna and undermines trust and transparency, which are central to patient rights. It's also fraud. Right to informed care. Kristen did not introduce herself or her professional status. I had no idea if I was talking to the front desk or a provider. She simply came in the room and demanded I go through my medication list. Right to continuity of care and right to informed-decision making. Before getting to my diagnoses, Kristen told me we wouldn't be continuing with certain medications. Without understanding the context in which I take medicine, providers cannot discontinue care. Simply knowing I take a medicine is not enough to tell me to stop taking it. Right to respectful and individualized care. I take a stimulant, and Kristen told me she would not prescribe a stimulant that I have been on for years before taking a drug test. It didn't stop there; she wanted me to take random drug tests and treated me like I had a drug problem. I don't have a history of substance abuse. This is intrusive and violates my right to fair treatment. Right to accessible and responsive care. I haven't been able to get in contact with anyone from the office to address my concerns despite phone calls and emails. This is why I'm reviewing them publicly. I will not stand for being bullied by a practitioner and that's exactly what Kristen Dale tried to do to me. The complaints are not going to stop at some social media reviews. These are going up to DORA. I truly think Kristen Dale is a dangerous practitioner who committed fraud when she overbilled my insurance company. read more

Fraudulently billed me, and for like, $500 after one appointment. I am a psychiatrist, so I know what insurance billing and codes look like, and they are not using any psychiatric procedure codes that I've ever seen, and so my high-deductible plan put the cost on me. The care is slipshod and scary, and if you aren't satisified with the care, they do not reach out to you. They just send their fraudulent bills to collections. I just received a response to my complaint and how it is hard going through a transition of care that's not the problem the problem is the person who took over she didn't listen or already chose to not believe me I offered her a drug screen to show I was not taking any of the medication she was looking at. I made a 6 month medical plan with Margarite and a nurse also from your company. The women I saw already had said she should have read my file before she saw me , and she prescribed me a medication my primary DR takes care of I tried to tell her this I just got a refill and she suggested I cut that medicine in half I told her it's a capsule. She also said she would get someone to bridge me so I would not run out of medication that she refused to provide for me saying she was worried only about my respiratory system.what about my mental health care plan. I've have vigorously been putting my mental health 1st and been honest with all my medical plan with all doctors but the woman I saw has only given me medication I have and other than myself asking for a bridge appointment I have yet a response. This has done nothing but trigger me so much extra stress being denied my medication because I had to have surgery my 3rd one as well. And with your response to my complaint about what has happened.i am told your working on it???? And to call well I have left messages on my portal and the woman said she would provide me with another person. Transitions are only hard when the person taking over steps in with any prior knowledge of me and makes an assumption that suits her and how she feels nothing about helping me. This is not how mental health should be handled and it's not how I expect to be handled as well. I would like to have my medication filled as it should have been please and given to someone else that will actually help me not add extra emotional issues. I am following the plan set up I feel whom ever takes over should as well follow the plan not change it because it's what makes her comfortable and I even offered the drug screen and begged her not to change anything in me last minute without any type of support just a script for a medication I already had at home to make it look like she did something. I reached out to their billing department with all my insurance detail over 8 times but they never did bill them. If you or someone you care about has actual mental health needs, DO NOT COME HERE. My wife can never get regular appointments. They say they have emergency care, but I can assure you, they most certainly do not. My wife had to be hospitalized a few months ago after a severe spiral that lead to a suicide attempt. She called her psychiatrist and NEVER HEARD BACK! It takes her months to get any kind of appointment. Then the follow up is non- existent. My wife again had a spiral that nearly ended in her suicide. I called out of desperation trying to get help. They changed her medication and it needs to be changed back IMMEDIATELY. It's the cause of her latest spiral. I never hear back. Okay, fine. We haven't signed documents to get me access to assist her. But when my wife called the next day... all she could do was leave a message. That was a week ago. She is still continuing to spiral and can not get the psychiatrist to call her back or even call in her updated medication. This place is going to kill people. If it hasn't already. Pure incompetence from start to finish. That's just the lack of support by the actual psychiatrists. The office staff regularly and consistently screw up billing and medical codes. It doesn't matter how many times my wife has called in, they still haven't done the ONE thing they need to correct a billing issue. CALLING INSURANCE. They screwed up the birth year when they filed the claim. And they keep saying they will take care of it. It's been 7 months. Please, don't risk your life but becoming a patient here. It's not worth it. How anyone at this practice still has a medical license is beyond me. It's down right criminal how negligent they are. I rarely take a business to task in a review. I'm a Doctor/healthcare provider. I came to MHP for simple medication management. But it appears they cannot even handle submitting a monthly or bi-monthly refill request. My psychiatric meds have been interrupted 4-5 times due to forgetfulness or neglect. Believe it or not, this isn't great for mental health. In addition to that, you get maybe 10-15 minutes per session. Very few things are discussed and they often request a follow up for the next month even though that is not necessary. Why? You guessed it. More units, more copays. Like I said, I'm a Doctor in the healthcare practice. Only difference is some of us don't play stupid games with our patients. read more

First of all, it is near impossible to get ahold of anyone for any reason. I was having a bad reaction to medication and had to figure it out on my own. They don't answer emails or calls. It's hard to cancel appointments and then it's a $75 fee for no show. What a trap. Doctors only prescribe antidepressants for adhd because they are told that they'll go to jail if they prescribe stimulants. The last few months were a struggle for me because I had to deal with severe side effects from antidepressants that I didn't feel comfortable starting in the first place. I'm convinced the doctors here were given a certificate online and told to have at it. I'm sorry I wasted 3 months giving this company a try. read more

I have called billing anytime they have said I have a bill , and every time , they said "No you don't have any outstanding co pays or bill for any services ." So why do you keep sending me bill notices all the time then ? I have my cc on lock now . I have all payments and appointments documented , whome I spoke with and when . I record them as much as they record me . You want a lawsuit ? You got it one Mile High ! Your patient care is disgusting and outsourced by people who are not even legally qualified to care for patients . Your psychiatrists are a rotating door and if you speak to them they are sitting at home in florida , colorado , utah , ect . Different states different laws . They are constantly lying and manipulating codes that qualify the pharmacies to fill your correct dosages . You WILL BE IN DANGER OF WITHDRAWAL SITUATIONS ! Each change of about 9 psychiatrists over a period of 2 years with this practice !!!!!! Every time you get a new one because (whomever you worked with left the practice ) , will have to re learn your scripts and some will be ok with just continuing your normal schedule , others will most likely cause problems with your med codes to the pharmecy and mess it all up so much that unless YOU KNOW YOUR CODES , you're in serious danger of them putting you in a position to be without your medicine . They constantly cancel and make you reschedule your appointments. They are unreliable , dis honest , dis respectful , and completely worthless !!!!!!! Needless to say I will be filing an official complaint with the Colorado Medical Board. This place SUCKS!!!!! Believe the last YEAR of 1 star reviews. I can never get an appointment, the one I finally did book was 3 months out, and I have run through my antidepressant. I have called everyday for a week now asking them to refill it. I had originally talked to someone a whole week ago bawling over the phone because I was contemplating suicide and needed my refill. I told the man this. Every month i have to call to get my prescriptions refilled, and i never know if it will be two hours or two weeks until they send it over to my pharmacy. i've left many messages over the phone and in their patient portal. it is now been over a week since I first called and I haven't heard a single word from them. I am now without my much needed ADHD medication. This keeps on happening and it is so beyond stressful. After going through several providers over the years I have been lucky to land on a consistent nurse practitioner who has been great to me. Don't get it twisted though, stay away from this company. Hello they where giving away school supplies today from 12 to 2 they put out a flyer on that flyer there was no indication that your child had to be present to receive the backpack or supplies till you got there what if you had a sick child at hm and only brought one with you they would only give you one no exception. I had one child with me one at hm unable to come due to injury . Nope sorry Charlie there was not a lot of people there .. I wish in there flier they put out .please bring all children with you or will not get backpack false advertising. Maybe next year put that in there kids need to be present . Their billing practices are very shady, at least with Tricare Military insurance. Per the website and what I was told, they take Tricare. I call up and make an appointment, and the person on the phone picks the provider for me..never once saying that each provider takes different insurance. Well, come to find out that the provider I was assigned to needs to be verified for Tricare. They knew I had Tricare and made an appointment with someone who doesn't take Tricare. So now I am out $300. Luckily I switched providers by happenstance. When I went to switch providers, they made it a big deal that I was switching providers...was that because they still wanted to charge me full price?? I feel that they are taking advantage of military veterans, active military, retired military and their families. read more

I've had multiple experiences with them, my doctor is amazing, they moved things around for me when I lost my health insurance. I was at the point where I was out of my meds and couldn't be seen because of missed appointments. I couldn't make an appt because I couldn't stop sleeping. They teamed up and made a plan for me that was inescapable, we worked through it all and now I'm semi adulting. I've never had a bad experience here and I'm so sorry many others have, I don't want to take a at from your experience. But I can say this wasn't my experience, and I wish everyone the best. I hate to have to change my review as it WAS a great experience for me in the beginning. There is NO continuity in care. My (4th) NP was fired and I was not notified. It was the first time I had a provider I could trust. This send me into a panic attack. There is lack of care over patients going unmedicated (complex psychiatric care patients at that) as their only concern is profit. I've been switched to OUT OF NETWORK providers without my knowledge or even the courtesy of letting me know so, I've been astronomically billed. If you aren't paying enough of your account they will refuse to refill your medication. Don't get used to your provider or form any kind of trust with them as within a month or two they will probably be gone soon. I'm pushing myself to write this review. Honestly, I'm still internally wrestling with the fact that I needed to seek professional help in the first place. So, it's a little (ok a lot) embarrassing for me. And I really wish I could be anonymous right now. But, I also really want to help others who might be looking for a mental health facility. I was prescribed a medication that I never have taken before. So I was unsure of what "normal" side effects looked like. I tried to do extensive research on the medication to know what to expect. But when one half of my body went numb and I started experiencing some heart palpitations, I decided to contact Lauren, the nurse practitioner who prescribed the medication to me. I left two messages (in two days) with the front office (at least one of those times I talked to Alexa-sp?) but no one ever called me back. I don't really know what to think or how to feel. I honestly don't know if my experience is the normal standard practice for Mike High. Or, if --with the long and horrifying history of medical professionals exhibiting racial bias when it comes to pain assessment & treatment recommendations for people who look like me--this was a racial thing. Either way, it doesn't feel too good. I'm not even angry. I'm just confused and disappointed. Because...what do I do now? I know that the mental health occupation is a demanding one...And returning a phone call might be the least imperative task on your list of things to do. But it was a big step for me to walk through those doors. And I just wish someone would have taken my concerns a little more seriously. I'm a human being who was scared and wanted reassurance. If possible I would leave zero stars for this business.......over 4 years ago we received a bill for my wife indicating that services were provided and payment was not received from our insurance provider as coverage had expired. There are several issues with this - first, my wife did not see a provider on the date provided, second the CPT code did NOT match anything related to the services being received at the time, and third, which is my personal favorite, is the fact that at no point in time did we have a lapse in coverage - when you add up all these things it's pretty clear my wife was NOT the client seen on that day for that service. That said we continued to receive notifications that we owed $130.00 - both my wife & I contacted the business numerous times indicating that their records & process clearly were wrong somewhere along the way.....a couple years later (yes - YEARS!!) they switched billing systems and started sending us notices again - I contacted this business at least 4 additional times stating where & how they were wrong......... this didn't seem to matter to them - the fact that the old system couldn't be accessed was OUR problem and we still owed them $130. Not only is this absurd & unethical, but after my most recent contact with them, Mile High Psychiatry elected to send us to collections for a bill from 4 years ago that we DO NOT OWE. I find it pretty pathetic that a business thinks this is the proper way to treat a client, especially one in the mental health industry. Long story short this silliness has been hanging over our heads for 4 years because of poor record keeping by Mile High Psychiatry, an inability to admit a mistake or a combination of the two - all for literally nothing. I would give this place a zero if I could. I kept getting the voicemail after being on hold for more than half hour at a time to just get a clarification on a script that they wrote for their patient. It has been over a week just leaving voicemails asking them to clarify the script and still waiting! It looks like they have zero regards to what happens to their patient once they are out of their office or better yet after they have collected their fees. This place is terrible and just the thought that they are actually mental health providers is a terrifying thought. They need to get their act together. read more

I would not recommend Mile High Psychiatry to anybody! I had a virtual appointment so I clicked on the link that they sent me 15 minutes before my appointment like they asked me to. I waited and hour and a half and still my Psychiatrist didn't show up. I hung up and called Mile High Psychiatry asked them to call me back so I could reschedule. They didn't call me back at all. They emailed me and texted me a link to reschedule the appointment that I missed. They lied to me and this is NOT OKAY!! I'm not going back! I would give 0 stars if I could read more

Called today to get emergency medication refill as i couldn't get them refilled because the psych cancelled on me, talked to a really rude receptionist who told me i had been "no showing" my appointments so i would not get my medication refilled, this was completely untrue, and she told me she was going to call back after she called the psychiatrist and never called back. Now I am completely off my meds and feeling awful. read more

My son was seeing a therapist at Mile High. The therapist was okay, but the office was beyond horrible. We called and left messages at least 10 times without a single call back. Not one. My son stopped using them. He now has a new medical provider, and wouldn't you know, they only refer to Mile High for Psychiatric care. We have tried calling many times over the last few weeks, with not a single response. There is no way to contact someone to set up an appointment. My son needs to talk with a doctor about meds for anxiety and OCD, and here we are. Nothing. I am going to see who we can contact to complain about them, but don't know where to start, so I'm starting here. We will check with my son's doctor's office to see if they have info on who to complain to. read more
