I was also conned by this company. Taken advantage of because of my deep desire for connection. I became a "member" of this "company" a few years ago and just wrote it off as a loss and moved on...but I recently came across my membership notification and thought I'd revisit it again. I wasn't surprised when I came across all of these other reviews who had similar experiences as mine. I can do my own background check on guys for a TON cheaper. When I first signed up they "matched" me with three guys. Awful choices. 1 specifically said he wanted children, where I specifically said I don't. How is that a match? Never had any other "matches" sent to me. Pictures are horrible. Don't go anywhere near this business. It's a fraud. Numerous complaints have been filled with Colorado District attorneys office. Their tacktics for selling membership is rude and agessive. They get your ss# telling you they run a background check for all there clients. They use it to run a credit check on you while your sitting there. That way they know what to charge you for your membership. Not everyone pays the same amount. Every public dating site's web site is so much better than what theirs is. The public dating sites also have so many more people and options (huge database of people). I should have known when I went to their office and she, Sheryl (Cheryl?) took me into her office and started with the high pressure hard sale tactics. When I signed my contract she was suppose to give me one match to get started and he was from Ft Collins.... that's over an hour away! Not only that but he was outside of my search criteria in other ways which I disclosed to her! After my experience, I completely agree with the other negative reviews and warnings. Although they will say that there's a new director and they're working on improving, their tactics of aggressive, manipulative selling haven't changed. Their database is completely in a shambles. Although they say they're a real matchmaking service, they only want your money and are unable to deliver on the services they promise. Be aware that the contract has a no refund clause. And in Colorado, you don't have a 3-day grace period in which you can change your mind. They will flatter you and will do everything they can to get your money and get you to sign. I went in today for an "interview." I was supposed to see Heidi, but someone named Sheryl came out to greet me. She started with lots of compliments about what I was wearing and proceeded to tell me that she could spot a person with a good heart immediately and she knew that I had all the qualities they were looking for. She then proceeded to tell me that they only accept 52% of the applicants that walk in the door and I was one of the elite few that would be offered a membership. After an hour of small talk and very esoteric questions, to which she appeared to be diligently taking notes and responding very favorably to all of my answers, I finally asked her what the service cost. She pulled out a piece of paper showing three levels of membership that ranged from the high $8000 range to around $9500 plus a $110/mo. recurring monthly charge for on-line access. I was absolutely floored! I think she could sense me immediately recoil and she launched into the great deal she could give to me because of how highly she thought of me. Long story short, after she left the room and came back no less than three times (picture a used car salesman going back to his "finance manager" to fight for a better deal for the customer - ya right...) she said she was allowed to offer 10 bottom dollar memberships per year and I was her last one (what luck for me!!). All throughout the sales pitch, I kept telling her that I really wasn't comfortable making a decision today. She finally offered me something thousands and thousands of dollars less than the original figures for a 10 month membership and two months of freeze time. Again, I said I would think about it. She then proceeded to tell me I had to sign right then to get that deal. I KNEW better and should have run as soon as she went into her used car salesman routine. But, I kept telling myself that this could be a really good opportunity to meet some men of a different caliber than were on free dating sites, and that I might meet some really good single girlfriends at some of the events as well. I asked to see some profiles and she said that they took their members' privacy very seriously but there were a select few members that had given them permission to show their profiles. She brought me four printouts of all model gorgeous, successful men and asked me to choose which ones I liked the best. I had a very strong suspicion they weren't real profiles and there was absolutely no way for me to know. I then proceeded to ask her what would happen if everyone I was interested in was not interested in me. She basically convinced me that would never happen because I had her to market me and make the men understand what an incredible catch I was. Hmm... So, I agreed. I signed the enormous contract and initialed all of the waivers and small print absolving Mile High Singles of any responsibility whatsoever. There was no guarantee, no refunds, no requirement on their part to do anything for the money they were being paid. Well, I got home later that day and was having strong second thoughts about joining. I called to request a refund from Dee Dee Hirsch, the Director. The receptionist said that she was on the phone and asked if Sheryl could help me. I said, "No, she absolutely cannot help me." She then told me to hold and Sheryl picked up the line! I hung up and called back again and proceeded to tear her a new one for transferring me to Sheryl when I had just specifically told her I did not want speak to Cheryl. Then Dee Dee got on the phone and immediately began scolding me for disrespecting her staff. I tried to explain why I was angry and she hung up on me. Very professional Dee Dee... She agreed to void my charge, I think only because she could tell she was dealing with someone who wasn't going to take any BS from them. I will be watching to make sure the card doesn't get charged. At this point, I don't trust them farther than I could push them with my pinky finger. The article above also mentions the fact that they used to be called Great Expectations and they have also operated under other names. There are multiple lawsuits against them in several states. Apparently, they keep shutting down and reopening under a different name. The common complaint is that people pay a lot of money and receive nothing in return. The pool of candidates is far smaller than they purport, and many of the accounts are inactive. The staff appears to do very little to actually facilitate connections. One word to sum up this experience... Yuck. read more

Too bad there aren't "0" stars available or even minus! DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING! I did when I was suffering from post concussion syndrome after a traumatic brain injury, and a brain imaging scan of function showed enough damage that my doctor wrote a letter to MHS on my behalf saying that I shouldn't be held to anything I signed during that time. When I sent a copy of that letter to Ms. McDowell, she emailed and offered me a "goodwill gesture" of less than half my money back. I told her I wanted it all. She refused. I notified the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office Neither of them would do anything about it. They advised me to consult with an attorney. There isn't enough money involved for any attorney to want to take a case like this on. Small claims court is the only option apparently and then there's no guarantee of a refund. I spent way too much money when I joined the private online service many years ago. Today I was greeted by a team of professionals- Sheryl, Ali, Karen, and Lindsey.These 4 ladies walked me through their processes in a pleasant, informative, non-judgmental manner. I joined the end of august and within a few days I had 3 men reach out to me. I have met the most amazing man and it is because of MHS. Our paths probably wouldn't have passed so I am thankful I made the choice to join. To meet the man of my dreams is worth any price. Its hard to meet people and everyone needs to remember that. I will have to say that my experience with Mile High was totally professional, friendly, and supportive. At the beginning of using their service one tends to have multiple questions and concerns, which they were always there for me. I liked the idea that everyone has a background check, a personal video which they tape at the office. They seems to be creative in some of their events they hold so that we can possibly meet other members. I was very blessed..... having been with the service for a short period of time, I have found a wonderful man who has brought me such joy and happiness into my life. I was manipulated into a 1 yr contract. I really just wanting more information about this dating company. I thought that I wanted to date, but started getting triggers so I realized I am not ready to date. I am a victim of rape and realize it is going to take me much longer to feel comfortable dating men again. I never used their service, but paid my monthly fee. I thought that this would be considered a special circumstance and they would dissolve my contract, but they insisted that I would date again. Both flags for me resulting in this internet search for comments on this business. I was also amazed at how much they dropped their costs as I continued to state that I was not interested in spending any money during my initial meeting with them (resulted in various tactics asking for money - got very old very quick). Have been meeting folks who were also duped and swindled by MHS/Great Expectations. They are females and males from all over metro area. Not one has had an experience dating as promised, and even worse, as specified in their contracts. All have different "membership fees," and have been shut out of computer listings at various times. DO NOT GIVE MHS YOUR MONEY OR YOUR SUPPORT!! They have left messages and texted me repeatedly, wanting to meet and "fix" my "issues." I urge you to demand your money back, stop monthly fees and report to Better Business Bureau. Calling local news channels is my next step...what about you?! BEWARE - this is expensive and an incredibly unprofessional company and possibly a scam. Watch out for the interview - it includes a crafted "flattery" process so you'll feel like a "selected" candidate. Then there's the unbelievable "special deal." I can't believe I was tricked, but i really wanted to find someone and thought the "personal" service would help. It's not personal service, the website is awful, the email broadcasts are done like 2001 emails look. The search is only by alphabetical listing of your last name. I'm an 'M' - guess how many finally got to the middle. The pictures they took were canned, though I laughed really hard with the photographer. Hate the canned "glamour shot" like pics. Every week I stop in to get the low-down on new members that could be potential interests for me, and they keep me on top of the upcoming events. I say can't keep, because their database is so small, that it would be a miracle if you found a match. Do not, I repeat, do not make an appointment to find out more information. I met my wife, Lorena, through Mile High Singles (known as Great Expectations at the time). We were both very happy with the service. We liked that they actually did background checks, professional photos and a video as part of the service. Both of us had used online dating sites and so often the pictures people post are 10 years and 20 pounds ago. You have no idea if the profiles are legit and don't get a sense of their true personality. At least when you view the photos, profiles and video of the people in Mile High Singles, you know they're current and accurate and they don't have a criminal history. Obviously, the number of people in the database isn't going to be as large as you'd find in a free online service since it's an investment. But that's a good thing. This was the absolute worst investment that I have ever made. I thought this was going to be an investment into my well being, thinking that I would finally meet someone local. I was talked into paying way too much for a service that was never provided. There are rarely any new members that I am able to choose from, VERY rarely does any fall within my age group with similar desires. This "company" also stated that they would have a concierge service that is included in the ridiculous amount of money I paid. In 14 months, I have received 2 emails suggesting members (which were not matches due to significant preferences such as no inter racial dating on their part) and have not once spoken with any since my initial meeting. Oh, and at that initial meeting, they tried to talk me into paying $500 for one additional head shot by a mediocre photographer. This "business" is terrible. So someone cat fished my husband using this website. I have checked his browser history to confirm that it wasn't him signing up and it wasn't. We were enjoying coffee when some woman called him and claimed he had signed up. He thought it was a joke at first and politely explained that he was married. I called the woman back and asked if she could tell us who submitted him. She claimed that wasn't possible. I think it's really unprofessional that when someone tells you that they were maliciously submitted to a dating site your company wouldn't do everything in their power to find out the IP address or something if not for us but even for the other people who actually use this service read more

I agree with every negative review posted. This company is fraud and is out there for the one purpose of stealing your money. They try to make you feel special and like you are part of an elite group but it's a bunch of crap. They charge everyone a different amount based on the data they collect from you including salary and social security number. I regretted signing up shortly after I did and they refused to refund my money. I did hear from others that they refunded them so clearly this business is unethical in multiple different ways. I will be reporting it to the better business bureau and getting my personal attorneys involved as well. I am happy to spend money on attorneys as long as we take this business down eventually. They do not deserve to exist. They are a complete scam and don't let them fool you. They will try but if you read these reviews please trust that they are the actual truth. Agreed, -10 would be most appropriate. I received the "friend" discount and the pressure Sheryl places on you is extreme. She plays on her "midwestern values", which she clearly does not have, to compliment you and let you know you are "one of the few". It is rather sad how they take advantage of people who really have to stretch to make it work financially when their clients just want to find the quality partner they are trying to sell. It is sold that there are vast numbers of "high quality" members when in the end, I counted how many (if they were all real) met my "must haves"- within 7 years of my age, did not want (more) children and were college educated. Really not too high of expectations when you are early 40's; there were 12, significantly fewer as I looked at activity level and just similar interests. This is a HUGE waste of money. They start off very friendly and wanting to play matchmaker but there was nothing after the first few weeks and they rarely would call back if I called. One time they did call with a "VIP" who wanted to meet...this particular person had a history of assault charges (granted charges, not sure what the verdict was). These are truly sales people/scam artists who just don't care. I have had significantly better dates through Match.com. Can't think of a memorable date through Mile High...sadly, I was taken. Please stay away from this group at Mile High Singles. As in the other reviews I was told the same thing, You would be good for this site, you are just what we are looking for. Same thing on the price side, I told them I couldn't do the package and they lowered the price. I had signed up and reached out to several of the members on the site, only 2 responded. The site had very few members to actually reach out to, I was told 2,500 when I signed up. I was also told of monthly events that would take place. This is a know company for conning people out of money. I went to their office in Denver several days ago for an "interview and orientations" meeting. They strong-armed me and falsely gave compliments about how I was exactly the type of person they were looking for. I was told that I would be billed monthly for using their services, and grudgingly gave out my card to them. Next thing I know I am being hit with a nearly $3000 fee and because I signed their documents that they were hence free of any refunds. I have tried on several occasions to get my money back being completely broke, even to the point of direct threats. Run from this business as fast as you can, they are ill-advised and scammers! read more
