Maternity Super Store - Summer Tom Boy Shorts

I find shopping for clothes challenging at the best of times not being standard sizing (6ft tall…read moreand ranging from a size 16-22 depending on the cut). I was absolutely delighted with hitting upon the Maternity Super Store when my bump grew to the point where my normal clothes were no longer going to cut it. The sizes range from 8-24 and each rack is bursting with clothes all sorted into size, colour and style. Need work pants, look no further than the pant rack and choose from multiple styles and fabrics in black, grey and navy. Looking for a dress for a wedding or special occasion, they have a massive range in every colour you could dream of. With jeans, shorts, bathers, formal tops, long sleeve tops, underwear, maternity stockings, dresses, pants, t-shirts from beginning of bump to breast feeding you really can't go wrong. The best bit is nothing is over $80 (except maybe a few formal dresses) and I can happily state I didn't pay more than $50 for any each item and walked out with jeans, work pants, dresses and a few jumpers. Given the challenge of finding plus sized maternity wear in Brisbane this is a must visit even if it is a bit of a drive from where you live.

I must say after travelling so far to visit this place, I was quite disappointed. Clothing all…read morefeels as though it hasn't been updated since the 90's. Not sure where the stock comes from, but I certainly didn't see anything suitable for a young (20's) pregnant lady. All quite nana, with a lot of unflattering styles. Sales woman was nice, but quite pushy. Selecting things for me (after a few questions) and having me in a fitting room within 3 minutes of being in the store. Unfortunately I left with nothing and I wouldn't be recommending to others.

Walking into Shugah Boutique, I felt as if I had somehow stepped into a clothes shop from the late…read more80s or early 90s. Everything in there from the banana dress on the mannequin out the front to the racks of shiny shiny dresses made me feel like I was back rummaging through the dress up box. Now that is not to say that all this is not in fashion again. I see plenty of girls dressed like a young Madonna or like Julie Roberts straight out of Pretty Woman. I am just saying that the clothes are so reminiscent of these styles that I feel like I have time travelled. That being said, the prices are also a little out of my range with most good over the $100 mark. The shop is quite nice, with lots of room to move and breath. You will find it in the Newmarket Reading Complex on the ground floor near the newsagent. I assume this place would be the best thing ever for some, but the styles of offer are just too dated for my liking.

Shugah Boutique probably have the worst logo known to man- swirly pink font with some cartooned…read moredrawing of some lady...really? Thankfully, it gets better from there. This boutique actually sells some nice clothing that are on trend and I actually find this boutique to be quite comparable to Princess Polly (Princess Polly have a much better logo). At Shugah, you will find brands like Cooper St, Mint and Maurie and Eve- brands any fahionista would be proud to wear. They really could improve with their visual merchandising as the way they are doing it at the moment does not give the garments justice. It is unimaginative and just dull which cheapens the clothes therefore makes everything seem over-priced. Once you forget about the awful logo and dull merchandising aside, Shugah boutique is not a bad place to shop.

Asthma Foundation Op Shop

Asthma Foundation Op Shop

This is hands down, my favourite op shop in Brisbane. I did think twice about writing this review,…read moreas there is a part of me that desperately wants to keep this place a secret. But I says to myself I says, "Asthma Foundation is an op shop, and the more business they get, the more help they can provide to others". Yeeah. You're best to treat Mitchelton Asthma Foundation like a genie that will provide you with eternal materialistic wishes. I walked in there yesterday wishing for a large, oven proof casserole dish, (rare as hens teeth in op shops these days I find), and sure enough, up in the back corner of the shop, I found exactly what I was looking for. Other times, I've wished for sequined costumes, Victorian style brooches, crocodile figurines, all sorts of things. If you can imagine it, you'll probably find it in here. The back end of the shop is devoted to costumes. They have organised it into eras- from 1950's- 1990's. They've even got a sign that says "We love helping you with costumes, please ask us for assistance as we have more out the back that you may like". Bless! I don't know how it happens, but this Asthma Foundation has great costumes and clothes. It is a gold mine in every way you look at it. The real treasure trove part of this shop is the fabric collection at the back end of the store. If you're into sewing or textile crafts, this is the place to come. You'll even find some well priced vintage fabric if you're lucky. Because it's a suburban op shop, the prices haven't been jacked up which means it's a great place to find a bargain find, or more likely, finds. Bring a large garbage bag when you go in there and stock up. This shop makes everyone happy, from the shop ladies who sing along to the olden goldies radio station they listen to in store, to the customers who dance in store and sit on the ground making monstrous purchase piles.

What a FANTASTIC Op Shop and hidden away on Blackwood Street. This great little store is packed…read morewith great clothes, toys, homewares and bric a brac. Reasonably priced, well presented and neat but still heaps to dig through and find a gem. There is parking on the street at the front but it can be a bit difficult to snag a spot during lunch hour. The clothes are well organised into sizes, womens, mens and kids and the range of accessories is fantastic. Some awesome bargains to be had. The staff are always friendly and happy to have a chat. I have never failed to find an amazing score each time I go (including a beatiful brand new black dress with lace details and POCKETS for under $5). So good I almost don't want to share.
