The Burren is a rocky landscape region that you can visit right on your way to the Cliffs of Moher…read more There is even a little outcropping of rocks that they call the Baby Cliffs (looking similar to the Cliffs of Moher but on a much smaller scale). When you're in the Burren, you'll honestly feel like you're in a Brontë novel, with a moorish feeling to the vista around you. We were there on a particularly rainy, cloudy, and foggy day - which added to the brooding nature of this rocky karst environment. You can see the Burren as you drive by/through it just fine, but you'd be doing a disservice to yourself to not step out of the car and smell the petrichor earth around you and see it with your own eyes and not through a window. You can stay longer in the Burren or make it a quick stop on your way to the larger cliffs, but you should definitely make the stop - however long you make it.

Adventure Kingdoms (aka a playground fit for a princess) Huhhh huuhh hugh, wait one minute while I gather myself..... Within 5 minutes of entering Lough Key Forest and Activity Park, I was reduced to the age of 5 years old. There was so much to do and so little time, but I had unfortunately, had made the monumentous mistake of only setting aside an hour or so, to "put a check in the box" beside this local attraction. If I can save just one person the disappointment I felt when (for the 3rd time) my girlfriend tried to usher me out of the park, this review will have been worth it. This is no where near your average park. You could easily spend an entire day, getting lost under the glowing green canopies of the forest or swept up in the romance and history that lingers near the bridges and brooks. Simply put, it has been one of the most beautiful places I've had the pleasure to have visited to date.

They have trails for people that have never ridden before, water play area for the horses, and huge meadows with many jumps. My 16-year-old daughter has been riding for the past 5 years. She was in heaven. She rode Princess, a small white pony. That pony has some moves! She can jump her height. I'm 6'2" and they set me up with "Mr. Big". Cost was approx. $35/hour (the Euro is trading at 1.25/dollar) per rider, plus I gave a 20 Euro tip to our guide.
