Together we decided that an Agreement of Child Support and Custody document would suffice for my needs. This document was to be drawn up and filed through the court system. In total I paid the firm $1258 for this to take place. I called the firm to speak with Ebony to ask her some general questions and found out that not only did she quit, she did not file the document that I paid to have her file through the court system. I spoke with an attorney there by the name of Phil Hamilton. Since none of the other attorneys handle family law there, all they could do for me was recommend other attorneys. I told Mr. Hamilton that I would like to have my money back, considering that I paid for a service that was not provided. He was hesitant to give anything back to me at all. He did finally agree on only $800 of the $1258. I did pick up the money and my file. My mother called on my behalf trying to get them to agree to give me a full refund, considering that what they were charging me for was not valid. The promises that were made were not provided. This document was drawn up and signed in May of 2017. This whole time I thought that it had been filed through the court system and had weight to it. It is in now January of 2018 and I just now found out that was never completed. They told my mother they would not even speak with her because they did not represent her. They were extremely rude. I called them and told them they had my permission to speak with her and they were very rude to me. They said that since she was not my attorney it did not matter to them if I gave my permission they were not going to speak with her and they were not going to give me the remainder of the funds. I think this firm is corrupt and I am making a formal complaint about them. It is unfair what was done to me and how I was treated.

First of all, their receptionist was a bit rude, asked me all kinds of unnecessary questions and acted like it was such a huge hassle to service me b/c I was calling 5 days before the court date. Second, I was told their fee for handling the matter would be $100. Sure, that's cheaper than Traffic Law Center(a friend of mine who used them told me he paid ~$400 including fine for speeding) or other places that advertise aggressively for traffic related matters, but from my experience there are plenty of other attorneys that have much more reasonable fees that will more than likely deliver the same results. I hired Attorney Cox to handle a Motion to Reopen a case for me in the Board of Immigration…read moreAppeals. The reason why I hired his was because he was referred to me by a law school friend. My first issue with Mr. Cox was when he filed my case in the wrong jurisdiction, which delayed my case for about six months. The sad thing is, I even contacted him via telephone and asked him whether it was the right jurisdiction, and he insisted that he was correct, therefore delaying my case. My second issue was that once he found out that he had filed my case in the wrong jurisdiction, I did not hear from him until a year later. I eventually understood that he did not know what he was doing. Accordingly, I fired Mr. Cox for his lack of experience in immigration law. Just because someone reads about immigration law and gives lectures on it, it does not mean that they are able to practice immigration law. As an attorney myself, I was really ashamed at what had happened to me. But I should have known this because when I first came to his office, he was in an altercation with another client because he did not properly represent his client in court. I ended up firing Mr. Cox and Mr. Cox ended up keeping all of my money. Sadly, I had made a payment of over $3000 on my credit card, of which my husband and I did not have any money at the time. He is the biggest regret and has made my immigration case so much more difficult. I will be filing a complaint against Mr. Cox. If you are thinking about hiring Mr. Cox, I would suggest you hire a better immigration attorney.
