We didn't have an appointment, so because we were a walk-in for the first time, my husband had to give his ID and insurance card. Then, the receptionist said it would be about an hour wait since we had 4 people in front of us. We waited, and after about 20 minutes, he got his identification cards back and was told to look over all of the printed information and to sign the papers. Upon looking at the info, the receptionist put his phone number in incorrectly, and his birthday was 2 months off even though it was on his ID. My husband made the changes on the paper and told the lady that the info was wrong, and she said that his insurance said the birthday she put in the system... even though she had his ID with the correct birthday. This truly wasn't a big deal because it was a small mistake, but my eyes and ears were on alert throughout the whole visit because of this. Some other negative things I noticed: they quickly diagnosed my husband with tonsilitis even though he had no other symptoms other than small swollen lymph nodes and that they claimed his throat was a little red. They gave a prescription to him for antibiotics, but I thought that seemed crazy. He ended up not taking them and was fine in a couple of days. Next, he got his ears cleaned, and the male nurse randomly left us in the room with all the supplies in the room, which seemed extremely unprofessional and flat-out disgusting. Literally, the spray bottle was kept behind my husband where he was sitting, and the dirty waxy water was kept on the counter in front of us... No one should be trusting random patients in a room with dirty tools. They didn't even take the dirty paper off of him, and they didn't wipe his ears off or anything. It all seemed so gross. After the male nurse left, the female doctor came in and rushed us out and told him to use ear drops so that he could come back for a follow-up. She also left all the dirty supplies in the room, and my husband had to literally ask her if he could throw away the dirty paper left around his neck. The only positive was that everyone seemed nice and friendly. However, after they were rushing everything and came to random conclusions that could potentially make sense, it made me hesitant. We didn't even get a post-visit summary page or anything after. Overall, I'm not sure I'd come back, to be honest. I'm used to going to Amita Immediate Care facilities, and I've always had positive experiences where they'd clean after themselves and be honest with diagnoses.

My reason for venturing out on my own is I was brought up to serve others and I have an innate desire to find the root of disease and not just treat the effects. The national average for doctor visits is 15 minutes. Extending over the "Fatal Fifteen" (see blog DrRic Fatal Fifteen) can provide personalized lifestyle directions for the patient IN THE ROOM but makes everyone IN WAITING delayed. Then comes the monthly review from corporate saying I'm not seeing as many patients as the national average so "we'll have to reduce your salary!"? So now being solo without a large corporation/hospital backing me up...I can spend up to 1-1.5 hours establishing the fine details of life and designing a template so we both reduce dependence on prescriptions/surgeries AND ultimately reverse disease. Imagine that: fixing a patient so they don't need to come to the doctor anymore! Bad business model for hospital but I can't shake the innate desire to teach, empower, change and heal. The privilege of providing successful life changes to the community comes at a price; no medical insurance companies want me to fix lives unless I'm working for a large organization! The root word of "physician" is healer SO I would be very careful if your doctor doesn't mention/design changing life habits.

WellessenceMD and Dr. Kara Nance not only did this; but has continued to demonstrate such in the years I have retained them as my Primary Care Physician. Their interest in my success is genuine and it has never waned. If you want to form a relationship with a group that is: cutting edge, compassionate, resourceful, and proactive then you need to give them a call. Ohh, I forgot to mention that my best friend in life also used Dr. Nance for medically supervised weight loss and well being. She not only lost in excess of 105lbs but she has kept it off for 5 years and is now living her life to the fullest. Craig Inverness, Illinois

Their "medical advice" is DANGEROUS If you aren't convinced, just keep reading. ________________________________________ The practitioners are under-qualified hippie pseudoscience bullshitters Joshua Marable is just a glorified masseur & Heidi Mc Glain just seems like a good old nurse, but Kara J Nance is something else. I went to see Dr. Nance myself, and believe me when I tell you she was the most condescending and passive aggressive doctor I've ever been to. In her website bio, there's a whole lot of non-medically related, random info aimed to convince you it makes Nance any better of a doctor. Basically, Kara Nance is a podcaster who co-wrote a couple of books on computer software and another on female intuition with a FOX-News-famous CEO and media personality... yikes. She's also a certified Enneagram Teacher--which means she makes personality tests. In fact, she takes great pride in that she has "an aptitude for critical thinking" solely because the Meyers Briggs personality test told her so. Ironic for someone so reliant on AI... which brings us to the second reason you should avoid this place: ________________________________________ Everything Wellessence MD (including the official website) is AI slop. Unless you want to get charged for a bunch of AI bullcrap being thrown at you, don't come here. When I met with Dr. Nance, she openly typed my medical issues into Google Gemini asking for solutions, then read it out to me off of her laptop, printed out the AI response she called "doctor's notes," charged me, and sent me home. I tried telling her I didn't agree with AI-generated medical advice,--after all, I came to see a professional, not an LLM--but she just told me I seemed crabby and could go see another nutritionist if I didn't like it. I did. She said you're insane, Kara. Come on Kara, let's hear the AI-generated comeback on that one. ________________________________________ Their "medical advice" is DANGEROUS Before offering me (a minor) weight loss drugs despite coming back with a healthy BMI, Kara first provided me with an AI-generated workout routine and a "No Carb, No Starch" diet. Good thing I did my research, because otherwise, I probably would have wound up passing out & sick. The no carb, no starch diet was framed as sustainable, but called for less than 20g of carbs, about 75g of protein, and 5g of fat in a day. That adds up to just 425 calories A DAY. In an attempt to get something from it, I did some calculations and applied the same ratio of macros described in the diet to a reasonable 1,468 calorie diet. But it now called for the consumption of 73g of carbs, 16g of fat, and 257g of protein (that's more protein than in an entire rotisserie chicken!). The diet is dangerous & beyond saving. ________________________________________ If you made it this far, I hope I've convinced you not to waste your time and money on this horrible clinic like I did. Protect yourself and find legitimate, good doctors.

I appreciated all the great reviews of Dr. Boyd and after weeks and weeks of trying to find a…read moredoctor I think I can trust, they helped me decide she was the doctor for me. So I called for an appointment and was told she could see me on August 18 (today is July 2). I have prescriptions that have to be monitored and maintained, and I also have a very painful issues with my arm. I don't think either can wait for August 18. They are two separate appointments and they won't combine them: one is "to establish care" and the other is an illness visit. Once I see her as a "wellness visit" on August 18, I would be able to "get in quicker" to see her in the future. For now, if I'd like to be seen and monitored by "someone else" who has more availability in their schedule I could do that. Well, I've had a terrible experience with a doctor in Chicago that left me with ongoing medical issues that could have been prevented. So I did my research and selected someone I felt I could trust. I was so very lucky to have that in New Orleans (from where I just moved) and I just wanted that again. I don't really want to see "someone else" that I don't know anything about and waiting 6+ weeks to see a doctor I researched heavily. So while I can't really rate Dr. Boyd herself, this is a warning to those who are looking for a doctor: even though her site says she is accepting new patients, I don't think she really has time for them. Be sure you can wait six weeks before seeing her if you choose her. I get why she's busy -- she's good. But why advertise that you're accepting new patients when you really don't have time for someone who needs you?
