(although its in a cage) It does akwardly squawk, causing you to jump or say OOOh! loudly. They have other animals, but mainly the animals are asleep and the shop has the sort of smell that any shop would if it was selling brightly coloured cowhide and bones. They stock alot, including plants, gnomes and books on Daschunds, but some of thier items are overpriced and a child has to bring a parent to buy a goldfish (understandable, unfair if you are 11)

A really excellent Garden Centre with a really pleasant happy atmosphere. It is on a very old site…read more(victorian ?)part of it being an old walled garden. It is a lovely place to mouch about, meandering from one little area to another finding hidden treasures along the way. Mind you don't miss anything there are all kinds of nooks & cranies. There is a lovely walk in the grounds which is periodically open to the public. The plants are healthy, some unusual, well displayed and the staff efficient & more than willing to help. There is an excellent selection of gardening sundries, a gift selection, a wonderful range of conservatory furniture, pots, fencing, etc. This year a magical display of Christmas decorations. The coffee shop serves good cakes & scones. There is plenty of parking and a pet shop on site. There are three Knights Plant and Life sites, one the other side of Godstone the other at Betchworth. All very different.

The shop is absolutely huge and well organized, offering a large range of products. Most importantly you can actually find what you are looking for and browse as the shop is well ordered. The staff are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, so can give informed advice. However, they are not pushy and if you just want to look around that's fine. There's all the products you could want for the rider, but more notably there is everything for the horse too. Many smaller tack shops mainly focus on rider equipment, while here you will also find a large selection of tack, supplements, rugs etc. It truly is a shop for the horse owner, not just the rider. There are also jumps and stable equipment on sale. All the products are good quality but the prices are also reasonable, the focus of the shop is not on exclusive, high-end gear.
