It's very calm and green and right off of 151. My only concern is people not picking up after their dogs or themselves because why was there trash in the beautiful lake? Some of the paved trails need a little upkeep due to runoff or flooding. There's also a porta potty in the park and plenty of parking in the 151 side. The other entrance has limited parking because it's through the neighborhood.

With the recent rains the creek was flowing and children were playing in the water. There is playground equipment for kids, there's a soccer field and the thing I was looking for the most, solitude. I would definitely bring my grandchildren here to burn off some energy. Now there was some trash on the ground but I don't fault the park for that. Some people are just pigs, there are trash cans right next to the picnic tables. You really can't miss them, but some people still do. There are also bbq grills next to the tables. The picnic tables are also spread out so you can have a little privacy while you enjoy the beauty of this park. Here's a little tip, your mother doesn't work here, clean your own trash up.

It starts with a decent steep hike up to Cross hill, here you can see views all of Castroville and beyond. Coming down, we hiked along native cacti and plants, walked along a dry river bed, and took pics along a pond containing birds and wildlife. End of the trail dropped us in the well maintained green park. Clean bathrooms and community center were nearby. Nice local peaceful hike and you can picnic along the way as benches are scattered throughout.

Follow the road around the pond and you'll find maps and a shelter, plus the trailhead to go north/upstream along the South Salado Creek Greenway Trail, part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System, towards Comanche Park and Covington Park. If you walk along the pond downstream, over the footbridge, you'll find a trail marker, a crosswalk, and a turnoff to a newer trail section of South Salado Creek. If you see a set of switchbacks, you know you're on the right path. This trail goes about 3 miles to a trailhead on Southeast Military Dr.

Most of the trail is shaded by trees which made it nice to run in the heat. There's a drinking fountain, with the attachment for dogs so they can get a drink as well. There is some public art with some tiled columns, which is nice, as they look like they were made by local kids. There are no restrooms here. Parking is easy, as there are plenty of places along the street. This is not a busy park, and more than likely, you'll have the place to yourself.

However this this could be the paranoia of a single mom, so I don't know how much weight to give it other than anything is possible you can't always be looking for negative things instead of enjoying the pasta. Just be pre-emptive enough to watch your kids and know that if your kids are the rough-house type you likely want to forbade them going to the top-tier in which to play

With the weather being exceptionally nice in San Antonio I figured I should take advantage the dry nice air and eat outdoors. So I found this park and I am very pleased with it. They have a ton of stationary equipment you can use to workout with. Lots of walking and biking. Paved trails/roads. I really enjoyed the views. Not that many people out. Really beautiful day to be outdoors. I didn't notice many homeless people which was nice. Parks in San Antonio and downtown tend to be overrun by homeless people. Nothing against them at all but they usually bring the quality of the place they are at down. If you haven't been to this park you must check it out. Again it's kind of small but really nice none the less. I enjoyed it.

This nice park lies across the street from Brackenridge Park. It's kind of the front lawn for the…read moreRiver Road neighborhood. The park is largely triangle shaped, with a community garden at the far end of the park. This area used to be the place where the Brackenridge horse stables were, where you could go on a horse ride through the park, along a set trail throughout the park. But the stables are long-closed, and they've built apartments that overlook the Davis Park. The park over here is a lot more relaxed than Brackenridge, it's just a big grassy field for the most part. Good for team sports, or kite flying with lots of space to run free. Parking can be found if you park in the River Road neighborhood. If you cross the road, you can go down to the river that flows through here on down to the Riverwalk. The park feels safe, but is not lit at night. There are no major bike paths, just lots of grass. There are no restrooms here that I am aware of.

I didn't notice any drug paraphernalia or homeless people like the only reviewer said. It was a beautiful fall Sunday AM. People were walking dogs, jogging, biking and dad and son practicing baseball on the field. The playgrounds are in great shape and maybe fairly new. Fresh mulch has been laid.

I came to the park this past weekend with my family and it was a very nice day. We came early…read moremorning (a cool 65 degrees) and we found parking pretty easy. This place has many places to sit and labels/maps you can follow to figure out where you are. They have a long pavement path you can walk on none I saw was at all difficult. Surprisingly, all the people that crossed my path was very friendly and kept wishing us a good morning. My family even pet someones dog and had a friendly chat. We walked around the Mitchelle lake. There was a fence so couldn't directly get there but looked nice from a distance. There was even some fruit we found that was interesting (don't pick them though), saw different types of birds, and behind some fence we also saw a horse and cows (I'm guessing someone's property sits next to the park). It was quiet and peaceful for the most part but anytime I find another parking area was a bit noisy with cars but otherwise not bad. There was also quite a bit of trash on certain parts of the trial which was sad to see. I would definitely suggest bringing bug spray as the mosquitoes were terrible on certain parts of the park around the lake. Overall it was a nice walk and nothing challenging. If I happen to be nearby I would consider coming back.

I cannot believe that in all these years (and I have been walking these trails since 2020) that no one has thought to create a small parking space across the street. It is a daunting walk facing oncoming traffic and people often jeer and honk, and Pleasanton isn't so pleasant. I just wish that there could be a little parking spot for at least two cars so that you wouldn't have to park at the Pleasanton Road trailhead across the street and walk all the way down there and then not to mention the uphill climb it takes just to get to the area once you're on that side. I'm sure by bike it is fine but when you are on foot like me, it is brutal, especially in this Texas heat and humidity. Please, San Antonio Parks and Recreation: improve the system on this trailhead so that I can return to my favorite spot someday.
