I first came across Snow & Rock many years ago a ski show in Earl's Court where I purchased my…read morefirst pair of ski boots from them. Since then I've returned many times for skiing related purchases. Skiing isn't a cheap shop and indeed Snow & Rock aren't a cheap ski shop so be prepared for some credit card pain when you shop here. I tend to buy my more specialist items like ski boots, skis and goggles from here as I feel quality in these areas is worth some extra money for good advice and good fitting. After all, these items tend to last me years, so it's worth getting quality which will last I've now skied long enough to know when I've getting good advice or if someone is trying to blag. The advice here is generally solid. I like their custom footbed service where they will mould the soles of your boots to fit your feet exactly. Having a pair of perfectly fitting and comfortable ski boots is vital to an enjoyable ski holiday and these are well worth the investment. Snow & Rock will also adjust boots after purchase for up to a year after purchase. As usual, hit the shop for bargains at the end of ski seasons. The clothing is expensive here and I tend to go elsewhere for less trendy but more affordable gear - I can't bear to spend that amount of money on something I've only going to wear 1 or 2 weeks a year

They had a decent selection of outdoor gear and more sports oriented gear than I expected. If you need adventuring or outdoor gear I'd come check this place out.

We end up with Arcteryx ski gear. Ellis Brigham is generally a black hole that hoovers up our money. This location is quite a bit smaller than the one in Covent Garden, but it lies within the one-block strip of outdoor sporting good stores right in the middle of High Street Kensington. Yay, comparison shopping! The other plus being that off-season ski gear sales don't get picked over quite as quickly. Do beware the breeders and their spawn, though. Getting hit in the lower extremities by a pram or scooter or a running tot not watching where they're going is a distinct possibility.

Paramo is one of the many, many outdoor clothing shops available to the public in Covent Garden. It…read morebasically sells jackets, and jacket accessories! We're talking two floors of heavy, heavy jacketing. Green ones to camoflague you in the forests, white ones to camoflauge you in snow. Brown ones to make you look down to earth (get it) and red ones. The jackets are of exceptional quality - they feel very light and very silky, but retain warmth like a champion of warmth retainers. Staff are very friendly, well up for a joke and a bit of banter. Fact of the day told by one of the floor assistants - You lose bodyheat 25% faster in water then in air. Fascinating, non? They also sell things like waterproofing spray for clothes, to try and negative this 25% bodyheat loss. Their clothing is designed to allow skin to breathe but also moves sweat across the surface of the body, causing maximum evaporation leading to cooling on the inside but staying warmth on the out. Expensive jackets nonetheless, look to be spending about £200! A nice little place though.

I ordered some gaiters that arrived post free, together with a bottle of complimenrty Tech Wash and 104 loyalty points were added to my account. My only negative is that I would prefer to shop personally and don't have a Paramo store near me. Pauline Rooker

This Ski Togs location is tucked in a little mews off the main road through Acton, and you'd absolutely never stumble across it unless you were looking.
