Every personality is different and when it comes to a therapist you have to find someone that fits you... someone you fill comfortable with... not all are the same. So if it doesn't feel right in the first 3 visits then go try another therapist... Don't give up tho... keep trying!!! There are some great therapist out there... but you have to search. I was there ahead of time, since I cancelled Xmas eve plans to accommodate this visit to gain help. I waited for 30 mins after our appt time, heard a voice from the adjoining office, knocked, the doctor in that office asked what was up, I explained. She said she was pretty sure that doctor Lemos wasn't working on Xmas eve! I showed her the text with the confirmed appt, and left a bit frustrated. I had already texted doctor Lemos to ask if she was ok, and question our appt. about the time I was leaving doctor Lemos texted me, that today was Xmas eve (no dugh!) and she texted the wrong date, and that she never goes into the office on Christmas Eve! Doctor, I am an educated man. However I have not met you, and I am not knowledgeable of your work habits or scheduling on Xmas eve! Doctor, you apologized twice, and with each apology attached as part of the sentence, that this was Xmas eve, and you don't work on Xmas eve. Your the Psych, you more than the prospective patient should know....when you say your sorry, you don't attach "buts" to the apology! And you "telling" me that you don't work on Xmas eve, are your "buts". Just say your sorry, you screwed up. That's acceptable. I was hesitant at first because I never had any experience with a mental health therapist. I made an appointment with Dr. Lazalde, and I brought my husband with me for support. During my first session, Dr Lazalde was able to put me at ease, her calm demeanor and professionalism allowed me to fully confide to her of my fears of having cancer and what if I do not survive treatment. Through her focused therapy and my cancer treatment, I was successful in conquering my fears, and I was able to beat cancer. I am now seven years cancer free. She not only helps me survive my fears and anxiety but have instructed me how to calm myself and what I need to do to keep my mind busy. Also, she helped my husband and I understand how to live together patiently now that both of us are retired and spent most of our time together. I would strongly recommend new patients to see Dr. Patricia Lazalde for a good therapy session. She is an excellent Therapist.

I highly recommend going to Jennifer for anything that troubles you. Jennifer uses multiple therapeutic models to help a wide array of clients, faced with a multitude of life obstacles. We worked with Julie. From early on, I felt positioned as the "problem" in the relationship, even while being told, "you're not the problem." Rather than helping us examine our dynamic as a couple, the therapist repeatedly focused on my upbringing and behavior while minimizing or overlooking my partner's role. Much of the guidance relied on oversimplified communication tropes ("your partner isn't a mind reader") and outdated gender stereotypes, including extended commentary about women expecting to be treated like "Disney princesses." This framing felt dismissive and unprofessional. When I raised feeling dismissed by my partner, instead of addressing his defensiveness, the therapist redirected the conversation into hypotheticals about how I'd feel if he made a female friend and didn't tell me. This felt inappropriate and avoided the real issue. The therapist also leaned heavily on the "love languages" framework, assigning each of us a category(a reductive, non-evidence-based approach that sidestepped deeper work around accountability, repair, and emotional attunement). Throughout sessions, I felt cornered when expressing legitimate concerns. My accountability was repeatedly reframed as a lesson, while my partner's behavior was softened or excused. I left the final session feeling labeled, scolded, and emotionally impacted. Couples therapy should foster mutual accountability, safety, and understanding. This experience did the opposite. I would not recommend this therapist to anyone seeking equitable, trauma-informed couples work.
