I slipped, fell, and hit my head right in front of no less than two firefighters. They didn't even ask if I was okay. With my head in emense pain, I had to drive myself to my Doctor's office. I was diagnosed with a concussion. I suffered a concussion while at least two firefighters watched and did NOTHING to help and didn't even bother to ask if I was alright. The community of Longmont needs to watch out for itself because their public servants are completely useless. The worst part is that they were "training" at the school and keeping students from having access to resources that they are paying good money for. They're not training to help, they're taking advantage of the local poulation and oppressing it. At least the good news is that that city is just shy of bakruptcy and if the local population took enough action, they could actually bankrupt the city and be rid of these non-caring idiots who would rather repress their freedom than provide the services they are being paid to provide.

For the last several years, my elderly, disabled neighbor has needed to periodically call 911. As…read moreher health has recently declined, the calls have increased exponentially, sometimes up to four times per week. Every time South East responds, the paramedics are professional and caring. They have expressed their concern for my neighbor's declining health and have taken the time to contact those who are able to assist her in receiving more care. When I have let them into the building and identified myself as a friend of the caller, they have never failed to treat me well and with respect. In the last year, I have come to recognize many of the paramedics. For the number of people with whom they come in contact, it speaks highly of them that they remember me and never fail to ask how I am doing. They consistently offer excellent, compassionate care. I am deeply grateful for their patience and professionalism.

Even though my home was closer to the Timberline Fire Protection District, he didn't just tell me to call someone else--he personally referred me to them because they could respond more quickly. That referral made all the difference. Because of Paul's help, Dan, Blake, and John from the Timberline Fire Protection District came out the very same day. They went far above and beyond anything I ever expected. They searched thoroughly, brought specialized equipment, reassured me every step of the way, and stayed until I finally had peace of mind knowing my cats were alive. Paul's kindness, quick thinking, and willingness to help set everything in motion. It says so much about his character that his priority was simply getting me the help I needed as quickly as possible. Both the Nederland and Timberline Fire Protection Districts should be incredibly proud of the people who serve their communities. I…read morehad lost my spare key the day before & had called after 5 PM & the line said the station was closed. So I wait until morning & call. They send a firetruck to mcdonald's. Why? Idk, there wasn't a fire reported (they let the fattest one drive). I called the non-emergency line & they sent "911". Absolutely pitiful. These men are an absolute disgrace to everything the founding fathers stood for & have no place in heaven. Unfortunately, tax payer dollars were wasted for an idiotic joyride to mcdonald's. how pathetic.

"The Double Gateway to the Rockies"…read more I stayed here in Lyons on my trip to Rocky Mountain National Park because it was only 20 miles away. They also had more affordable options than Estes Park. It is a small town with a population of around 2,000. I enjoyed taking some time to explore Lyons during my brief visit here. The town of Lyons has a lot of cool-looking historic buildings. Many of the restaurants and stores are all within walking distance in the downtown area. I was able to do some shopping at the local grocery store because my hotel had a kitchen. For coffee, I spent time at Barking Dog Cafe. The coffee is smooth and the customer service was great. For food and drinks, I recommend MainStage Brewing. They specialize in pizza and good beer and have a vibrant outdoor patio area. All of these places are located on the main road through town. The Lyons Redstone Museum is free and open to the public on a donation basis if you want to learn more about the history of this town. It is housed in the town's school house. The Rockygrass Bluegrass festival and the Folks Festival folk music festival are two annual music festivals held at their outdoor venue called Planet Bluegrass. Lyons is a great place to stay if you love outdoor recreation activities like camping, hiking, fishing and whitewater kayaking.

Although, I've been in and out of Estes Park for the last 15 years, I haven't actually explored the Town of Lyons much. We came here during our peak to peak scenic byway drive, and figured that this town was only 30 minutes away. It was absolutely the emporium of small town! Beekeepers were spotted with local "bee-farming," and local honey for sale. Most shops were simple, supported by the community and seem to be all the rage in honey!! This community is friendly to senior citizens, because we saw lots of senior citizen friendly neighborhoods. One of them, were actually located across the street from Sandstone Park, and Lyons Depot Library. Those are two spots that make wonderful activities for anyone. We saw also lots of friendly looking people, who waved back and smiled often. It seems everyone built a foundation of friendship and familiarity here.
