Schumacher has done a very good job of closing all kinds of warranty issues, but our floors are an embarrassment, and we have not had any guests or neighbors over to show off our beautiful home as it is very embarrassing. Every day our shower floor squeaks, and the kitchen, living room, laundry, and 70% of our home squeak. Schumacher has spent many hours trying to resolve this, but now they claim it is not part of their warranty program and refuse to fix this horrible construction/structural issue.

This was a challenge because we had to manage this project from California and we building in the mountains of North Carolina. The team at Schumacher Homes was undaunted and made the process remarkably smooth and efficient. From the initial consultation, Stacey Lidman, in the Asheville office was an amazing visionary. She had the ability to translate our ideas into reality and help us see past the obstacles, including coming up with the idea of an unfinished basement to stay within our budget but build for future expansion. She listened to our ideas, provided valuable insights, and ensured that every aspect of the plans met our expectations. This was a first for not only us, but Schumacher in that planned gated community, so we had to navigate some challenging architectural guidelines to make the Schumacher plans conform. Once the project got underway, there were some initial challenges with some turnover in the Franklin office (which was brand new). But once Neal Holloway took the helm, the project really moved forward. Neal was a pleasure to work with as was Arlene Drinnon who received hundreds of emails from me over the year. Jason McConnell was thrown into the project about halfway through, and he was exceptional. He was always a pleasure to work with whether over the phone or during our in-person visits. I definitely got the sense that he was interested in delivering a quality home within the timeframe. It is remarkable to finish this home just over 12 months from breaking ground, even with all of the changes in staff, and my two major change orders (massive windows in the basement and fireplace hearth). Schumacher Homes demonstrated exceptional professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to quality. Their communication was consistently clear and timely, which was especially important given the distance and time zone differences. We always felt informed and confident in the progress of our new home. Despite the complexities of overseeing a construction project from another state, Schumacher Homes handled everything with great care and efficiency. Their project management skills were exemplary, ensuring that timelines were met and any issues were promptly addressed. There are few more things left to finish. But we are confident that the final work on the punch list and other remaining small matters will be addressed. We wholeheartedly recommend Schumacher Homes to anyone considering building a new home. We were told during the bid for the job that it would take from 8 to 10 weeks and that they could start in June. We were told they would have us moved in by late July/ early August at the latest!!! Today is April 7th OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR, and they still haven't finished!!! It's so infuriating!! No one is ever here! They have been stringing us along for 11 months. Other contractors have told us we are getting scammed... we don't know what to do. Call the media? Get a lawyer? SCROGGS SUCKS!!!!!! If you want your project done on time, with integrity, and in a professional manner, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

They were able to accommodate many of the long distance decision making. Everyone was so nice to talk to. The custom pantry is perfect. They were great for conservation and repurposing things too. They were also very cost conscious and made great recommendations for alternative materials that were reasonable in price with great quality.

I waited about 20 minutes before calling just to be told that due to the holiday weekend, no one can show me the property. Nice. I took off of work to see this property! So I go and reschedule for another date. Just to get a message a few hours later after they confirmed my appointment, again, that the property is no longer available. It's beyond frustrating given that I literally spoke to a human person on the phone about this , and they couldn't inform me that it was no longer available. Very unorganized, and no communication whatsoever !
