This is my story about my encounter with a Hyde Park traffic cop…read more Warning : Rant Alert. I've lived in Hyde Park for over 12 years without a single traffic citation. But my luck ran out in June 2014 when I decided to pass a traffic officer that was driving BELOW the speed limit. Around 25 mph. I passed him and was subsequently pulled over. I thought I was in a dream state. I thought to myself "No way he can pull me over for doing 35mph on Hyde Park Ave" But I was wrong. The cop asked us why we had the audacity to pass him. It was as if his ego was hurt due to my passing of him at 35 mph. After waiting 15 agonizing minutes while he was searching my records he hands me a warning and said "Don't pass me next time". I sheepishly agreed and said " Thank you. Sir!" Although I did not receive a fine. I am irate at these cops harassing law abiding citizens to justify their jobs, protect their egos, and meet there end of month quotas. It is time for law enforcement to be held accountable to the people that they work for. We need to keep them in line and communicate any injustice we experience because of them however small or large. They should be working in our best interests. We should not have to beg for their mercy every time we encounter them. I am asking everyone to speak up. Critically Review your local police departments. We live in an age of connectivity. Let's use it too everyone's benefit. Thanks for reading! P.S. Rules of driving on Hyde Park Ave: You can drive 40 mph 95% of the time. But slow down on weekends and whenever the weather is beautiful (clear skies, no precip). The local traffic cops don't like to work when it's not nice out. Also, as you may already have learnt from my rant. DO NOT PASS A TRAFFIC COP CRUISER. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THEM AS POSSIBLE.

The woman I spoke to on the phone said I would have to come in in person to do this. When I got there, there were two women sitting at the front desk, one younger one and one older one. I ended up speaking to the older one.  I explained that the electrician I wanted to register a complaint about has called and threatened me repeatedly, and has even come to my building and tried to get me to let him back into my home.  I also received a letter from his lawyer about the Yelp review. The woman at the desk told me that it was probably the electrician's wife who wrote the letter and I should just ignore it.   She also told me I was "just as bad as he was" because I had been updating my review every time he did something new. She told me that the police didn't handle this kind of thing, and that I should stop updating Yelp because the electrician " knows where I live." In her opinion, coming to my house, making repeated threatening phone calls, and impersonating a lawyer are nothing to bother the police about. This woman and whoever it was who told me to come down to the police station displayed quite a lack of concern. I realize that I did not have a violent crime committed against me in this instance, but it is concerning nonetheless, and I was not actually trying to get the police to do anything other than to allow me to put on record what this man has been doing to me. He may escalate his behavior or do something worse to another customer/victim. I didn't think that asking to put something on record was too much to ask, buy I got a very clear message today that it was.

The officer assigned to desk duty was away from the reception dealing with a couple of officers in the back who were complaining about a lack of detail overtime opportunities. After a while he saw us standing there and when he made eye contact I raised my hand (I didn't say a word), to which he barked, "YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT." Wow. A modicum of polish could go a long way - he could've easily said "I'll be with you in a minute" or even "I'm busy at the moment." Instead, we walked away from the station with a new (hopefully unfair) presumption that BPD cops are incapable of showing any class.

If I have to use the "Doctors appointment" excuse one more time, my boss is going to think I have terminal illness! With the commute aside, the court isn't all that bad. Constructed in the mid 70s, and furnished with many broken benches and archaic decor, the building is located in the heart of the WORST city, ever. You are about a 3 minute walk to such sites to see as Dunkin Donuts, Family Dollar, and I think there was a store that accepted WIC cards. Dress Code: It is not necessary to show up in your Sunday's best. I decided on a Claiborne suit, and was quite out of place. Basically, there is no need to dress for a black-tie function, if you are ending up at Chuck E. Cheese. Most of the other patrons were dressed in track suits, tank tops, faux Juicy Couture pants, Hooter's t-shirts, and I saw a few ankle bracelets for added flare (/ safety). :( The Staff: The probation officers are sincere and friendly, and the judges seem pretty nice, too (as long as you don't "act a fool" like some of the more aggressive clientele). Also, there is a mean, short woman in the clerk's office. Her and I will NEVER be BFFs. Basically there is no such thing as "guilty" in Massachusetts. You may plead guilty, but they will forgive you, and tell you "no probz. just try not to do it again, plz?" and then you are on your way back to the Red Line for the LONGEST ride home, EVER. I would have given 4 stars if there were a cafeteria present, like the one on TV's 'Night Court'. :'(

Perfectly fine for an MBTA station, I was here coming and going, with a transfer to the M Line…read more That transfer, despite being outside, is free. The station is not fully enclosed but it is significantly sheltered from the elements. It is completely handicapped accessible. There are turnstiles and automated ticketing machines, seats for waiting, audible and visual announcements of the next train and it is well lit. Ashmont is one southern terminus for the Red Line, the other southern terminus is over in Braintree as the train line splits a few stops up the line. The next inbound station from Ashmont is Shawmut. Only in Massachusetts could you take a big barn with a leaking flat roof, spend $50M, wait 4 years…read moreand end up with a big barn with a leaking slanted roof, and call it a T station. The project is years behind schedule and millions of dollars over budget and there's no end in sight. The north entrance has a nice new plaza which is really just a glorified skate park and you still have to travel to the south entrance to get in. Along the way you get no shelter from the elements except a flimsy piece of plastic tarp overhead for part of the walkway. But you do get to pass by a T worker in his heated office 'monitoring' the buses. Glad to see he's warm. Once you do make it to the south entrance you'll see the Charlie Card machines have a new makeshift shelter built over them after they were thoroughly soaked during a recent storm. Great ingenuity, but wouldn't it be better to fix the hole in the roof instead? Crazy talk I know. Favorite part of any trip to Ashmont Station though has to be the 'customer service' staff. If they do decide to leave their little booth and brave the same elements they subject us riders to, they are usually found being rude and unhelpful or standing by while people fare-hop at will. I'm a big fan of public transportation, but the MBTA needs to get their act together and finish Ashmont Station already. The neighborhood has put up with it long enough and deserves better.

For instance, why don't they allow appointments for new vehicle registration? I guess they figure same day service is needed? I think they should have a better system. Also, why don't they do that on Saturdays? Evidence of how badly their systems function is the length of the lines outside before the RMV even opens. People know they need to take many hours off to do this. Anyway, I do want to give credit to the person I presume was supervisor when I went this morning. He was helpfully checking people's paperwork who were in line. It's incredibly frustrating to stand in line and be told you don't have the needed info so I very much appreciate this courtesy. He also gave a clear announcement and warned that not everyone was likely to be seen due to staffing levels. While extremely frustrating for those waiting, I still commend supervisors for clear communication. It's so rarely done and ultimately reduces mistrust and anxiety. So thank you, sir, for treating people like humans. So lacking these days!

I don't know if they treat the employees here well, but it seems like they're all miserable. The email and the text message tell you to be 15 mins early to check it. The lady in the front told me to go back out until the exact appointment time (the ones who were with me said the same thing). I just asked if I can sit inside since it wasn't busy at all. 5 mins before my appointment I saw the line growing so I stood in line. Another worker separated the ones in line by appointment time. The ones with the same time as me or earlier was moved to the green line. When I got to the counter, the lady asked for my application. It doesn't state on the email or text to fill an application out, nor did the lady who told me to come back at my exact time (I was 30 mins early just in case) told me to fill out an application. And so, the lady made me get out of line to fill an app and go back in line. It's stated that our appointment is 1:30 but here we are waiting. It took 30 mins, The way they talk to you is intimidating. I wanted to asked questions, but to avoid the attitude I just did my own research online instead while waiting. Anyways, if they state an appointment time, you should be seen at that time. Finally got called to desk 16. The lady was really rude, didn't speak up so I could barely hear her and she was of no help of all. And then when I went to take my picture they had me redo it many times because they said my head was tilting and I felt like my head was straight looking directly on the blue dot. The lady couldn't explain well in what I needed to do. In the end they told me I had to come back because the proof of residency I provided wasn't enough. I showed her a mail from my bank sending my new carb because I just moved out here. Really upset. I don't recommend this branch.
