This place has helped me out of depression and suicidal thoughts. I did a 6 eeek program. It's not easy, you have to want to be better. I hate that it's so many negative reviews on here. The therapist are great and they really do care. read more

If your child has depression and mild mental health symptoms, this is a good program. If your child has serious mental health issues this is not a good fit. They want calm obedient clients. They will dismiss any child that has any kind of belligerence or behavior issues. It is there right but where are the kids that REALLY need help supposed to go? Do not come here unless you want to feel like just another number and be treated with zero care. I began coming here back in July. I scheduled a med review appointment for yesterday (November) due to depression. After her initial greeting and verifying who I was, she began scolding me for getting off my meds.... which was not the case at all. She proceeds to argue wth me saying I'm either off my meds, or getting them somewhere else, and that she would never refill my meds with out seeing me since July. Yet, I have called monthly for my refills and asked if I needed an appointment and was told no each and every time... and my meds were still refilled each month with no question. (At the end of the appointment she finally sees that she HAS been refilling my meds with out seeing me). Then she proceeds to ask if i was still NA and AA.... excuse me!? I've never had a drug or alcohol problem! I asked if she was looking at the correct file and was completely dismissed. Then she tells me she will be changing my meds to a list of medications I can not take due to drug resistance (which I provided a list of past medications and side effects at my intake)! Which she argues again with me and tells me I never gave them a past drug list!!! I have never felt so dismissed or defeated!!! I honestly can not believe that this place and the people that work there care anything for thier patients and should not be in the position to "help" people with thier mental health! read more

My granddaughter and myself go to MAM to have our medications managed. We have been with them for well over a year and they have been nothing but terrific. I also was taking another of my grand children here and throughout out counseling meds, PHP, everyone treated us with respect and were very knowledgeable regarding our needs. Everyone in customer service knows if someone walks up to the front desk you place the person on the phone on hold to assist the person standing in front of you. Staff is unpleasant and does not greet you when you walk in! Our appt was at 8:30 and it's all most 9am however they require that you be punctual however they are not! Some ppl just should not be in business! Let's pray that their dr are better than the front office staff but since they are already 30mins behind on our appt I doubt it! Terrible place, the dr literally said "why are you here?" As the opener first time we met... that's a great way to open up a conversation with someone having mental illness and stress. Me and my husband have tried here. I'm currently looking for a new clinic but have had to return here twice for med refills while searching. They are quick to prescribe you multiple medications that don't really work instead of just one that will. They've given me several anti anxiety/ antidepressants to take all together instead of trying a newer stronger single medication. They also won't treat me for adhd until I go to another doctor to get diagnosed. But were fast to dole out sleeping pills and multiple small nonworking antidepressants read more

We were skeptical to try Mind Above Matter based on the reviews, but I'm thankful that we did. My niece struggles with depression and ADHD and recently moved to the area. We needed someone to start from the beginning and work from there whether than just picking up where past providers had left off. What they had done before was not working! I attended adult PHP group therapy and would highly recommend this place for the therapists, interns, office staff and nurse practitioners truly care. If you are spectacle because of the low reviews I encourage you to read how situational they are. I initially came for weekly counseling but I am glad I listened to their recommendation of attending inpatient group therapy for now I have been able to work through my own trauma and relate with others in a safe setting in just two weeks! Unfortunately I have to return to work so I will be discharged early however I am truly thankful for this experience. read more

I trust I'm not out of practice reviewing anything as it's been a long time. This place is awful. I had three appointments here, two with the doctor and one with a nurse. The doctor skyped both appointments--BOTH. The first appointment turned out great! Doctor was funny, seemed caring and listened. Second appointment with same Doctor, whoa! Bad mood. He was in such a foul mood, I spoke as little as possible. My third appointment was with the "really nice nurse" who was supposed to have been "easy to talk to." No, not that day. I waited over thirty minutes for her and she was a grouch. I don't know what's going on here and whatever it is, it needs to stop. The support staff is super! They're so professional and personable, it's a shame they have to work in that climate. The nurse who helped me with my medications sent three to my mail order pharmacy and one to a drug store in town, no problem. If I could give this place less than one star I would. For my sons initial visit by zoom the lady doing the meeting was 25 minutes late , and then she charged me $100 even though I told her I had insurance. I then had to call the office to get a refund . The next appointment was at the Keller office location. His appointment was for 4:00 pm. We arrived on time for the appointment and when we walked in the lobby was completely empty. There was no staff at all. Finally after about 10 minutes a employee came out and said that the receptionist had gone to lunch and would be back shortly. So we had to wait 30 minutes before we finally got a room to talk to a virtual doctor. Then after talking to the doctor we found out that they don't even prescribe stimulants for ADHD. They never told me this in the initial visit even though they knew we needed medication management. After finally finishing the appointment and leaving I asked the receptionist why there was nobody there for my sons appointment and her quote was " well I had to go to lunch , and I was the only one here ". So , I will not be returning to this facility. It was a waste of my time and my money . I DO NOT recommend this facility. read more

I used to like this place. I really did. I completed group therapy and was going in once every 3 months to a check in with my medications. But now, I don't even talk to someone in person for that check in. They want me to basically Skype with someone at a different location, but I still copay $35 for the visit. That's so insulting to patients, like they're saying, "we don't really have the time for you, but we'll take your money." And if you don't want to do this, they'll hold your prescriptions hostage until you do. I'm talking to my primary care doctor and seeing if I can stop going to this place. read more

Terrible place. You walk in and are met with no greeting from the front counter girls. Once you figure out which paper at the front to sign and they decide they actually want to talk to you, it gets worse. They are cold and short which leads them to be very off putting. Finally posting my review on this place! My Daughter's father was recently not in her life when she was a teen, due to some bad decisions on his part. My daughter had not seen him in two years and was starting to have some depression. I had taken her to other counselors but our insurance changed with my job. Upon arriving at Mind above matter...She was taken in a room with me and two other intake counselors, both young in their early 20's. After 15 minutes I was asked to leave the room. I had a terrible feeling the entire time, and upon returning to the room 35-40 mins later. This young 20 something newly licensed counselor suggested my daughter go to an inpatient mental hospital! She had ZERO need for that type of intervention. I was simply looking for a weekly counseling session. Once i told him I refused that route he threatened me with CPS! No JOKE! I am a GREAT Mom, and DUDE, you've spent 15 minutes with me and 35 minutes with my child! I refused his "recommendation" and a few days later was contacted by CPS! I had three in home visits, where of course they found nothing but a pleasant loving home environment. My daughter just needed some counseling! My guess is that this facility gets a "kick back" for referring people to this particular in patient hospital!!!! It has taken me three years to write this post because I was so upset I couldn't even muster up the courage to put this publicly. Having CPS called on you is not something you want to publicly say. However, this company is 100% UN-ethical. We went on to see another Christian therapist whom we continued to see for the next two and a half years. She helped my daughter have someone to vent to and work her feelings out with...(just like i wanted in the first place!) my daughter is well rounded, level headed, bright and sweet, not a trouble maker and never back talks me (very rare occurrence in the teen years). She went through something traumatic losing her Father - she didn't need a mental in patient therapy. Beware of this facility, they are crooked and you cannot trust them. read more

Horrible staff that attempts to help over the phone before first appointment. After you get there, the staff changes time lines for meds and does not try to find out any family information. They jump to conclusions and try to force their plan. If you do not agree, they will not ask why or how they can adjust therapy. They will call cps and file false claims. It took two weeks and repeated phone calls to make contact with someone who would set an appointment. The scheduler kept insisting that the appointment be for the following day despite my repeated statements that I was looking for the following week. The phone call took nearly 15 minutes to set a date. We were ushered in to see an "Intake Specialist" on our first appointment who was supposed to assess the situation and place us with a counselor. Instead, we spoke with a woman who did not make eye contact and continued to make statements attempting to guilt is paying for unnecessary treatments that cost $3000. She insisted we provide information on the schools our children attended and that she be allowed to contact them. We refused no less than 5 times before she finally moved on. We were not allowed to speak with a doctor at any time. It's clear that this place is mostly about making a profit off of their clients, and we won't be back. Additionally, we've spoken to our referring doctor about the organization in an attempt to find referrals elsewhere. read more

Good luck getting this man (Dr. Wasiq Zaidi) to genuinely listen to you. I can't tell you the number of times I've (with much difficulty) explained my symptoms, side effects, whatever it may be, only for him to straight up tell me, "I don't know," while laughing. "It could be anything." Right. That's why I'm at a psychiatrist. (I've been seeing him for over a year. Every appointment is him belittling or undermining my symptoms. That's if he listens and acknowledges them, at all.) He suggested I just go to a therapist or buy some self-help books for anxiety as his ultimate solution. Left the office in near tears. Find someone better who will at least talk to you like you're a human being. read more

I'm now on my third doctor at this location in less than a year. I waited a week for approval on my med refills. I got a voicemail telling me they had been approved. After a week of waiting for the pharmacy to tell me the refills were ready, I started calling again. After 3 days of leaving messages, I finally reached an actual person(same person on whose voicemail I'd been leaving messages). She tells me I never left a message. Then she tells me having the pharmacy call repeatedly for refills only slows her job down more. Keep in mind, I don't tell the pharmacy to call them. That's done by their automatic refill process. This last month, my doc was changing meds for me and wanted me back in 2 weeks. I tried to make the appointment before I left that visit, but they said the system was down and they'd call me with an appointment time later. I waited a week with no news, and started calling them. I finally got to speak with someone on the last day of the "2 weeks". I only got to him by choosing customer service in the phone menu. (Even though there is a scheduling choice). He tells me it'll be another week before I can see someone, and he'll have the nurse call me back to tell me what to do with the medication. She never calls. I get to my appointment, and my doctor isn't there. They have me see a practitioner that has no idea what to do for my next step of getting off this drug. She says not to worry, that I'll see my regular person next time and she'll know. I ask about the call I never received from the nurse, and was told in a whisper that she's no longer with the company. So I took a drug that makes me sick for an extra 3 weeks because of these people. On the same visit, before I go in, I had to deny an extra $70 fee for a visit I never had with a doctor of theirs I haven't seen since 2016. As in, they had me down for missing an appointment with a doctor that's not even mine, and expected me to pay for it. Last time I spoke with one of their therapists(I've seen several), she had me in tears over the phone. Telling me I couldn't possibly have been leaving messages for her, that her assistant ALWAYS gives them to her. My last 2 therapists there left without a word, and all their clients had to find our own replacements. This place is supposed to have therapy, medication management, support groups, etc all under one roof. As far as I can see, they are just as broken as the rest of the mental health system. They are not the solution they claim to be. These are only a few incidents that I can stand to write out. I've been coming here 2 years. Needless to say, I'm actively looking for other options. I made an initial new-patient appointment with them, but then had a scheduling conflict. I have now been trying for four days to get in contact with someone to cancel the appointment, calling multiple times a day, leaving numerous voicemails, and have heard precisely nothing from them. I've tried the direct line to the office, their customer service number, and their intake desk. No one has answered in four days. Now their main number says they are having technical difficulties that makes it impossible to answer the phone. Horrible place! Had an intake appointment in August was diagnosed by the intake therapist. Appointment with doctor was scheduled for 3 months later. Went to apportionment and I was out in a room with a laptop and the doctor was on Skype. Was never informed that this what was going to happen. Doctor didn't have my records from my intake appointment and couldn't prescribe me the medicine I needed. I was informed that I needed to see another doctor to take a test. Why wasn't I told that back in August and could have already completed it? The doctor brushed me off and hurried to end the call. I tried to talk to the front desk and the girl was unhelpful. I will not be wasting my time with this place again. Unprofessional and uncaring to say the least. read more

I called and asked if they took my daughter's insurance.they said yes so I made my daughter appointment After seeing my daughter for a 2 hour assessment they wanted her to be in the program for 30 days for intensive treatment where she would go Monday through Friday 8am to 2pm.I told them I wanted her to remain in high school they declined to give her treatment. I believe its because they like to max out the insurance company's for service. My daughter attended therapy when they were previously Innovative psychiatric solutions. They wanted to charge me a copay when I had to cancel due to being ill. I got sick during the night and called first thing in the morning. Because it wasn't 24 hours in advance they insisted I owed the copay. I guess I should have gone in anyway and let them worry about cleaning up the vomit and diarrhea. I found out that I owed this copay when I was there for another appointment a few weeks later. They told me that I had to pay both copays (for the cancelled visit and that days visit). I offered to pay the copay for that days visit but they said without paying both copays I wouldn't be able to see the doctor that day and would have to reschedule. I refused to pay and left. I won't go back. This is a ridiculous policy. read more

My grandson started there in late May for med management only. This is Sep 3. In this time he has had 6 appiontments and 3 different people. The first one was a PA. She allegedly left the practice. The second one was a doctor but she started prescribing him a ton of downers of various types on top of his meds for his diagnoses. When I arrived for our third appt, which was a follow up on another med change, I was told I didn't have an appt. I showed them the card with the appt and they said she no longer accepted Medicaid. I asked when they thought they were going to tell me and she just stared at me. She finally, reluctantly said she could schedule me with another doctor but they couldn't refill his main medication, which he had taken the last one the day before. He went 8 days without his medication. The third doctor was amazing. He knew. He cared. He listened. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. One week after our second appt with him they called and said he was allegedly leaving the practice and no one else with them took medicaid. Good Luck. If you are reading this then you know how hard it is to get a new patient appt with a psychiatrist. It takes months. After some digging I found out that all of the doctors are contracted to Telemed. MAM informed Telemed on Sep 2 that they would not be renewing the contract on Oct 1. This is extremely poor patient care. Apparently they do not have anyone else in place. They have left all of their patients out in the cold. The possible medical emergencies that can arise from stopping all these meds cold turkey is frightening. My grandson will wind up in the hospital. MAM was the only psychiatrist in 3 counties that took Cigna Medicaid. I now have to take the time to switch insurance then get another doctor. Minimum 3 months. read more

My daughter went through the PHP program at the Burleson location. I am amazed at the progress she made in 6 weeks. Her Dr. was great - we are now seeing her once a month, and her therapist was absolutely wonderful. We really felt like they cared about us and what we were going through. We did not have any problems with appointments and never had to wait very long. We utilized the transportation they offered and I am very thankful for the help to and from. I would recommend this program to anyone with a teenager that's struggling with depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. They are amazing and we are so thankful! read more

I have no idea why this place doesn't have a better rating. Quite often, people with depression and mental illness are extremely negative. However, I couldn't be happier with my experience. The staff was very knowledgable, experienced, kind, and caring. The staff is prompt to answer the phones and to respond to issues. I have been in and out of dozens of mental health facilities over the past 20 years. Some experiences were positive and some were negative. My experience with Mind Above Matter is one of the best experiences I've ever had as I've struggled with my condition. I am greatly appreciative of all they've done for me! read more

When I had my first appointment, it was great. I met with a very concerned and mindful nurse practitioner who seemed to care about my physical and mental well being. Shorty thereafter she left and everything became very sterile and they made me feel like a paycheck. More often than not my appointment with the "Dr" was telecommuted and he was always condescending and even laughed right at me one time when I expressed how I felt to a 55" TV that he was broadcasting from telling me I didn't understand what I was talking about. They don't follow up on phone calls or answer any questions unless you harass the poor nurse... The whole operation is poorly run from my point of view and I generously gave MAM 2 stars because their poor employees are actually very nice and accommodating. Their CEO states on their website that she, "Had to repeatedly witness the low standards of care." and apparently decided to repeat it. The staff is wonderful, the doctors are horrendous. read more

This place was terrible, not only did they constantly switch psychiatrist, many of our visits where over skype. They are also very bad at changing policy with no notice. I was given a weeks notice stating that they where no longer taking patience in my step-sons age range, a week! This is right at the beginning of the holiday season (busy season for psychiatrist) and all of the places I've called are booked full until January. They have frequently lied to us, changed things around, as well as messed up prescriptions and tried changing medications that where working just fine for my step-son. read more

I would love to share my honest review for this place. My daughter started going here early this year , Knowing that they were a newer place and was not very well developed yet. The location in Burleston from what I have heard is fantastic! I would give my therapist 5 stars she was very nice and helpful. But other than that... They are very unorganized and do not know what on earth they are doing. Every time She goes there they give her a different med consultant and they did not even have one the other day and She had to talk to someone in there house over a computer. The med consultant tries to put her on different meds to try them out. On some days they will put her down for appointments I didn't even schedule for. I will sometimes go on the day they asked me to and then they tell me my appointment isn't today. I wouldn't even try calling because I always have to leave a message with no return. I always have to talk to confused Ester from the front desk. They constantly make me pay $60 co pays for missed appointments (that I was not aware about). My daughter was recently in the emergency room for side affects and they refused to let me talk to a med consultant until I payed my missed co pays. I put my foot down this time and refused to pay them. After talking to a couple of people and explaining they apologized and my daughter got her meds she needed. I will not be returning here. I highly suggest this place to have messages go out in day advance for upcoming appointments like usual places do. read more

This company and location has by far the worst customer service. This is the second year being with them & they're constantly making the same billing error. First time in 2015 for my husband's care we were referred by our insurance provider because we didn't have to meet our yearly deductible. When going there we were told otherwise even after informing them multiple times we didn't. They were very persistent in collecting the full cost. After the appointment once he was done I contacted Anthem being the primary in which they informed me that we were correct and Mind Above Matter should not be billing as much. At that point I contacted them back the front desk was rude and showed no remorse just playing the blame game. They then told me to speak to the head person Terry in billing. She shows no empathy at all immediately she backed the front desk about the billing which is when I informed her I would call her back with my insurance provider on the line. Immediately I did so they spoke and it was confirmed there was no deductible to be met after getting reference # and making notes on our account she informed us it would be sent to accounting & they would mail a check in 2-3 weeks I became frustrated and expressed it only took them seconds to wrongfully charge our CC AFTER telling them our correct policy details. We shouldn't have to wait that long for our money back on their error. She then stated she would speak with billing to see if they could get it faster to us. They did and it arrive that week. This year same issue even after a year and notes of past problem. I now was going to them for a consultation and they over charged me. Even billed my insurance company for the intake and told me they would get back to me after looking at the Dr.'s scheduling on what day I would start my care. Two weeks later after calling them to following up twice I finally received a call that they were full and wouldn't take me and gave me a number to another place and sent me on my way. That place was not even what my Dr. requested with Mind Above matter and they had no clue why I was referred to them. It wasn't until my husband went to his first app of the year and them trying to bill him way more than his usual payment that I found out they over billed me. Why would you even take in someone bill them and then tell them you're full? At that point on the phone I informed my husband checking in for his app not to give them our CC before they verified it correctly. Sure enough I was correct our policy was the exact same so they billed him at the usual co-pay not apologizing or anything. I was told speak to billing to get a refund AGAIN for my app. After 2 weeks no refund check and speaking them on several occasions (Jan. 26th, Feb 15th & 18th) them acting clueless putting us on hold to go speak with Terry and coming back to informed my husband and myself that it would be there any day now. Today now the 22nd called back very frustrated and confused my husband and I spoke to someone else that stated they had no way of knowing when it was sent or where it was to just wait. So with that being said we were livid and she placed us on hold came back to get a contact # for Terry to call us back. Finally received the call and told by Terry with the horrible attitude it takes 30 days and the check was being sent out today & to pretty much wait. I asked since when because she was able to expedite it last year she stated their policy changed. I hung up her tone of voice and interruptions during the conversation was enough. Why don't they stop making errors if they can careless about getting your money back. I would not recommend them at all and I wish there was a closer place for my husband to go because he hates the care. They're all about the money, no follow ups, they'll only keep recommending partial hospitalization so they can get the most money out of you. Getting a appointment is horrible and returned calls good luck on that too. I'll be contacting my insurance to dispute them billing for a intake when they were full as well. Nightmare. read more
