Unless you are dieing and have no choice steer clear of this disgusting excuse for a hospital. I found the staff for the most part to be discriminating opinionated and a few choice words here. The water comes ò out brown that the patient is supposed to clean them selves with. The list goes on and on. Horrible hospital! Negligent care! My mom had a procedure at Minden Medical Center, and was sent home with an abnormally high WBC count. Even I know that's a key indicator of an infection, and I'm not a medical professional. The doctors knew something was wrong immediately after the procedure because my mom was completely confused and disoriented. She was sent home in this condition. None of the doctors or nurses who reviewed her labs (obviously not reviewed carefully) cared enough to investigate the high WBC count or her condition. Sure enough she had contracted some deadly infections during her stay at this hospital. And her primary care physician was of no help upon her release from the hospital. I took her to Willis Knighten in Shreveport, where the infections were discovered and treated. Although my mom didn't pass away at this hospital, she later passed away in Minden after receiving poor follow-up therapy at Town & Country Nursing Home which led to readmission to Minden Medical Center which led to her death. I wish I knew then what I know today! Heed my warning.. Go to Shreveport for medical care, and stay there until you completely recover, and that includes physical therapy. Interestingly enough, Minden is a place that I hold near and dear to my heart; however, my thankfully brief experience at the Minden Medical Center, was horrifying. The staff (nurse, cna ?, transporter, another nurse? ) stood around the nurses station all night long. Hugh Hefner couldn't have told me more about his sex life than these 4 individuals did in elaborate description. I know everything about who has done who and wishes they'd done and whose body parts look good, and so forth. I think you get the idea. There wasn't a single nurse that completed a head to toe assessment. I received about 6 shots IM in each hip for pain relief and yet, I didn't have a single indicator that I was a fall risk. I didn't have a call light. I didn't know my nurses name. And actually, I didn't know anyone's name. I disconnected my own blood pressure cuff and IV fluids that had been dry for hours, and took myself to the bathroom while I wandered around looking for it with no staff in sight. Is this protocol? I am a nurse. I didn't tell them that because I just assumed you're going to do your own due-diligence whether or not you know I'm a nurse or not. read more

I understand this is a small hospital in a small town. However, it is still operating in a place that is not a third world country. My wife and I were visiting her grandmother. My wife is a charge nurse at the biggest hospital in Las Vegas. Think of October Route 66 musical festival...hers is the hospital that treated over 250 people who were shot and injured. During our visi in Minden, she had a kidney stone. We went here and the only positive was the wait time was 0, but it was 12:30 am. However this doesn't outweigh the negatives: the ER was filthy. They tried to reuse a blood pressure cuff on her until she pointed it out. The one physician, one nurse, one CNA, and one transporter stood at the nurses station in earshot of my wife talking about movies, sex, AND patients they had been in that day. Can any medical professional say HIPPA? Then they started talking about who was going to take a nap first. Not sure if we were in the US or a medical pop-up in Central America. Drive to Shreveport....pass this place by. I would give negative stars if possible. read more
