The first time I called MindPath, the person who answered was on a cellphone in a car. They were unhelpful, rude, impatient and obviously unprofessional (was it too much to expect my call to be answered by a receptionist in an office who would be able to help me schedule an appointment with a provider??). I waited a few months before calling back (I had hoped for another referral from my PCP, but none of those panned out) and this time reached someone helpful who scheduled an appointment for me with Navneet Dhaliwal. The first time I met with her to talk about an ADHD diagnosis, she asked me a bunch of questions and then abruptly said I had borderline personality disorder. My jaw just dropped. After speaking with me for all of ten minutes and ignoring my request to assess me for ADHD, she just thoughtlessly drops this bomb on me with no compassion. I was shocked and told her so. (A few days later, I also had a conversation with my therapist and told her what had happened. She was also taken aback and told me there's no way I had BPD and that ADHD in women is often mistaken for borderline). In any case, Navneet did eventually diagnose me with ADHD at which point she prescribed Atomoxetine. I scheduled a follow up to discuss how things were going with the new meds. The next time we met, I told her I wasn't noticing any difference with the meds. She said, "ok, I'm going to double the dosage to 80 mg from 40 mg." I didn't have the meds in front of me so I had no idea what dosage she had prescribed, but she did also say, "hm, why does it say 10 mg here in your records?" This set off some alarm bells for me so as soon as I got home I checked the pill bottle and sure enough, she had originally prescribed 10 mg. Which means that at our follow up, she upped my dosage by 8x! This felt very very wrong so I called MindPath right away and explained to the person who answered what had happened and told her I needed to speak with the doctor right away. Navneet called me back and rather than admitting the error, she got super defensive and very riled up. She just hit me with a wall of meaningless words, none of which were "I'm sorry" or "I made a mistake". She even came at me for calling her out on the borderline diagnosis during our first meeting. She just kept saying that increasing the dosage from 10 mg to 80 mg was normal and that both doses were very low and it was no big deal. In the end, we agreed that the best path forward was for me to see another provider. She said she would transfer me to another doc. A couple days later I went to the pharmacy to pick up the scrip and the pharmacist came out to speak with me. She said, "this is really unusual for the dosage to be increased by this much. your doctor has essentially skipped all other dosages between 10 mg and 80 mg. this increases your risk for side effects by A LOT." I reassured her that I wouldn't take the meds until I had once again spoken to the doc. Finally I called MindPath again, hoping to speak with the new provider. But apparently, Navneet hadn't yet approved my switching to someone new and she was out-of-office. MindPath and Navneet truly dropped the ball here. I honestly can't imagine an easier case for them to deal with - an intelligent, articulate adult who comes in for a simple ADHD diagnosis - and can only imagine how thoroughly they screw up when dealing with more complex cases. I feel for everyone with situations more dire than my own who made the mistake of choosing these clowns for help. read more

It is impossible to get an actual person on the phone for any kind of scheduling, rescheduling. You have to leave a voicemail and they may call you back (most often don't) the next business day or send them an email which almost never is returned. If you try to make appointment via their patient portal you are sent in a loop. It is literally not possible as a current patient to book an appointment online. "Current patient portal" is inoperable . See all the 1 stars this place has... they are trash. read more

Do not go there. My daughter was referred there. I won't mention the doctor who helped her (or NOT HELPED her, I should say.) People who need psychiatric help are vulnerable, and need a caring, understanding person who listens to them!!! The doctor who "helped" her was dismissive, doesn't answer email, and my daughter didn't feel heard AT ALL. The doctor does zoom only, no in person appointments. My daughter was hesitant to take the prescription drug the doctor prescribed her. She did try the drug and experienced unpleasant side affects and stopped taking the drug. So the doctor decided to refer her to someone else. Great! So you take a vulnerable young lady, talk to her for 10 minutes, prescribe some drugs, and when she questions this, you want to drop her as a patient? Unbelievable!!!!! The doctor just wanted to push some drugs on her and my daughter tried them. But she had questions regarding side effects. And this doctor just dismissed her. A truly good doctor will work with a patient and try to find alternative solutions. In my lifetime I've had many good doctors who listen and work with you. They don't just say "Take this drug or else you can't be my patient!" We won't be spending money there any more. read more

I really appreciated how Navneet Dhaliwal helped me with my trauma and symptoms. She was an attentive listener, and I felt heard throughout our conversations. She also referred me to trauma-focused therapy, which I'm grateful for. I really liked her welcoming and supportive nature but unfortunately she does not work there any more . read more

I like my psychiatrist as a person, I'm not saying their name, but I do not feel that they care even though they have a caring façade. I'm done with thus place. Don't come here if you think you have ADHD, they will not help. You have to get outside testing for it at your own expense and when asked why they cannot do the diagnostic they say "we are working on being able to test for ADHD" they aren't working in it though. What you will get is your psych telling you you have a victim complex while you try your hardest to advocate for yourself and your therapist (not saying who, they're nice, just not helpful) throwing up their hands exclaiming "I don't know what to do with you" after CALMING BREATHING doesn't help you manage your executive function problems. Funny thing how a psychiatrist that only sees you for 30 minutes every 3 months will mona lisa smile at you and say "I don't think you have ADHD" as if that same psychiatrist did not miss my fathers rampant alcoholism, but sure thanks for the pills see you in 3 months to tell you how much more of my life has dissolved through my my fingers from Mindpath Health's inaction and inability to access their patients for an incredibly common mental health ailment. I can't continue my care here because there is no care to be had. I feel lost, alone, and abandoned by my mental health team. Based on other reveiws I can see that I am not alone in my experiences at Community Psychiatry/Mindpath Health. I would rather not be contacted. I won't be making more appointments. Terrible customer service. They scheduled my psychiatrist and therapist on the same day and the same time and then when I called to cancel one of them the same day they said it would be a $60 charge. This place is stealing peoples money they don't care about your mental health be careful! read more

My Mom used to see Nurse Practitioner Shannon Shaffer. She is horrible! She took Mom cold turkey off the Lexapro she has been on for decades. Then had her slowly come up on a new med. Mom was already suffering severe anxiety attacks. Shannon added withdrawl symptoms to Mom's suffering for over 6 weeks! Any pracitioner knows never to take a patient off a physch med cold turkey, don't they??? We called the day after her appointment with a question, and she charged another $330 for a 5-minute call. The office NEVER returned my calls contesting this charge. Horrible. I'm also filing a complaint with the state. read more

This place is horrible and does not care at all about a patient so don't waste your time and go to a different place if you can. Yes it's medi-cal and omg so what low income and free insurance doesn't mean we get treated like nothing, especially if I have mental health situation. They acted like I didn't have insurance and charged my credit card for no reason. Now I have a late charge and interest fees, they still haven't paid me back even after going through the whole retroactive judgment with the medi-cal judge, I'll have a good dent in my credit and have to pay fees for no reason. When the woman treating me is late 15 mins every time I don't get to charge her. I really, really wanted to like Dr. Priyanka, because she's very sweet and things started out so well. She was very willing to give me antidepressants and work with me on trying the cheaper medication first and only having appointments when necessary, because my insurance sucks and it was expensive to go. However, while she might be very willing to prescribe antidepressants (and offer to increase the dose every time I mentioned anything related to my symptoms), she refused to listen to how bad my anxiety was and just wrote it off as a side effect of the depression. She'd basically say, "when the antidepressant works, you'll have less anxiety, so just give it time" but the fourth or fifth medicine we tried has actually been working for my depression, but my anxiety is still overwhelming. As much as I try to tell her that the anxiety is ruining my life and causing me to almost lose my job and everyone I'm friends with, she refuses to discuss the topic with me. After telling her that the anxiety was so bad, it was causing me to pick at my skin and lips to the point of them bleeding regularly, she gave me one of the weakest anti-anxiety pills available (an antihistamine/allergy pill that also causes relaxation) to take as needed, but it hardly helped and I didn't like the side effects, and she wouldn't listen to me when I let her know that. Any time I try to bring up *anything* other than depression, in fact, she dismisses me. It's like she already made up her mind on what I have and won't deviate from that, despite the evidence that something more might be going on. She blows it all off with, "oh, you just have poor coping skills and need to work on it in therapy" even when I tell her that I've been trying for months and my therapist strongly feels there might be something more going on than simply depression (and that getting medication for these other things might improve my quality of life and help me learn the coping skills more effectively). Now, I know you're not reading this because you care about my life story, and this is just one example of something frustrating, but it seems to me like she's dismissive of everything she doesn't already believe, and I cannot recommend her to anyone who might have complex or comorbid problems. If there's a chance you might need to be medicated for anxiety or for multiple things at once, I recommend continuing your search elsewhere, because it's going to be hard for you to get what you need here.
