When you choose a photographer you hope for two things...That they show up on time, and that the…read morepictures turn out beautiful. Both of these were not achieved by Erica Rose. In fact, pictures from our beautiful event weren't even seen. Booking Erica for our parents anniversary was great. She was so nice and bubbly on the phone and we were able to get a hold of her easily to discuss details. We were really excited to meet her at the venue. Our party started at 6:30 and we asked her to arrive 15 minutes prior to that time. She showed up at 45 after. We were disappointed but she showed up with a smile and seemed ready to work so we let it go. We informed her which plate would be hers for dinner but asked that during dinner she went around and got some candid photos of our guests. She got up and took 1 photo of each table after eating and then asked to take the family photos that we wanted so she could leave afterward. This was only 1 1/2 hours into the event and we paid for 3 so we expected her to stay the remainder of the time and handed her her check then. Our mistake. She stayed another 15 minutes after taking our family photos (which we were so looking forward to seeing) and then left. We were shocked at the service we received. Especially because we liked her so much before she tried to jip us on time. A few days after the event we got a phone call from a very sorry Erica letting us know that our photos were accidentally deleted from the memory card and that they could not be recovered. While devastated we knew that there was ways to get those photos back because we have 2 very tech-savvy guys in our family and they've had experience with this very issue. She refused to let us try any of their techniques but was very apologetic. The good news is we received our money back. The bad news is, we have no photos of that night, and for a family who loves to document everything with images, this was a hard pill to swallow.

Even though it was hot, the pictures came out beautifully. We dragged her all around my old hood (Lakeview) and she took pictures in alleys, the brown line stop, a bookstore, and even in the Yogen Fruz. She made us look good, and not like the semi awkward nerds we are. I can't wait until my wedding next year for those pictures. He spent hours with me and my senior dog, taking…read morepictures in several different parts of town and driving to different locations that had trails that my pup could manage, and which weren't busy with other dogs. At the consultation he learned about my dog's physical limitations and places he loved to go when he was a puppy but can no longer get to now, and the sites he chose for the photo shoot were perfect. Lake shots, mountain shots, fall colors, and great natural light. Both he and Kaitlan are clearly dog people, and did whatever it took for my dog to feel comfortable. David even waded into the lake up to his shins (in October!) to get some great water pictures. He captured my old guy's spirit in photos I will treasure forever. The pictures he snapped when I didn't even realize he had started shooting are some of my favorites - just a girl and her dog outside, happy as can be. The pictures are amazing, and I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be on the other end of David's camera with my best friend. It was so hard to pick the best ones, but with Carol's help, I narrowed it down. I'm sure I'll be back to buy more prints over the next few months. You set an appointment and Shalem does a thorough interview. Very consultative asking our daughter's likes, hobbies, and then walks through clothing preferences and goes through various ideas you have for sites and gets a feel for what you want want to express to others with your photos. Our daughter spent a lot of time studying in coffee shops so that was where we decided one shoot would be. Another shoot was in a marshy area, surrounded by nature, weather was a factor as it can be in September and October, so we did part of the session the next day when weather improved and we chose modern and natural settings. Be prepared with 5 or so outfits, and water boots. You're going to trek to a location in woods or streams if that's what you want. So be prepared! He encourages friends or family to join you to bring clothes, snacks and items you may use as a prop. She had her older sister and boyfriend with her. Now we wait a week or so till pictures are sorted and the best are pulled and we'll meet for final review and purchase. They sell their pictures A-La-Carte. So you have options of sizes, etc. and you can buy the copyrights too. Shalem has been here for around 8 years and was very word of mouth. Not anymore you're now in the Yelpasphere! Welcome! This concept is very important to remember when your Uncle Dan or your cousin Sally, who has a really nice new camera that she's just been itching to use, offers to do your wedding photography for you. Please turn and run directly to Jamie Lang. This woman is absolutely an artist. She was recommended by friends, and I only had to look at her website to know that I wanted her as our wedding photographer. She understands all the little nuances that take a photo from being "nice" or "kinda neat" to "absolutely breathtaking." Not only that, but she's a total hoot, and a pleasure to work with. You can tell that she loves what she does, and is excited to collaborate with you on your ideas for what the perfect wedding photos should be. On the day of the wedding, she was everywhere at once, yet unobtrusive (she caught a ton of moments that I didn't even realize she was there for), and she helped us to laugh during some tense moments with my insane father. In fact, probably some of our best laughing/smiling moments were captured when she was cleverly zinging him from behind her camera. We spent a lot of time and energy planning and putting our wedding together, and the evening went by in a blur. Upon looking at the photos for the first time, I was amazed at how well she had captured everything, and how beautifully. It was like reliving the night again. Many were blurry, many were cut off, and the angles just seemed amateurish at best. This whole experience was a nightmare, and this is just something that we can never get back. How often does your daughter get married? I would NOT recommend this company to anyone ever. We paid thousands for a few okay photos (none looked as good as the ones on his website). I will never use them again, and would likely look for referrals elsewhere. The reviews I saw for this company online seemed to be made up by the owner though, so it is tough to tell anymore.
