Ken at Highland provided a reasonable quote for my bathroom that needed some work. His communication was excellent throughout the service. The project was completed on time, though I was a bit nervous about reaching the end by our target completion date. After squeezing in a Saturday with work and a very long day running till 7 PM, we were back in track. In the end, I was satisfied. His workers keep the job clean. They put drop clothes throughout the path leading to the area of work, kept the demo contained and at the end of every day, my house wasn't messy. A splatter here and there were found, but Ken was responsive at asking his staff to remedy. I would suggest being very careful about any suggestions or efforts that may seem extra and are not written in your contract. I was surprised with an extra charge at the end for a ceiling light that a worker mentioned to me. However, he never gave me a price for the light or an updated contract. The additional cost was only brought to my attention when the final payment was due. So, just be mindful and ask for clarity in all work. I would contact this business again for services and am generally satisfied.

Each day, usually twice a day Robert would swing by and check on the job, which we really appreciated. Robert and his team also repaired a portion of our deck that had rotted. Avoid! Mitch from…read moreMitch's Painting aka M&J Contracting aka M & J Painting. Same person, same company, same phone # 845-729-9795. Where to even begin with Mitch? Mitch, the fast-talking, self-proclaimed honest guy with 27 years of experience, who promises to treat you like he's your brother. In reality, he's more like Borat, stumbling through the job with boorish antics and zero self awareness. We hired Mitch to paint the cedar shake siding of our house and replace any rotted wood. He must have assessed me as someone he can take advantage of. Before the ink was dry, he was already shaking me down for extra cash to paint the garage doors he conveniently "didn't notice" despite parking in front of them. Then, in a gesture of generosity, he said he'll paint them "for free" and tried to pawn off some leftover baby blue paint from his van as a substitute for dark grey that I specified. What should have been a straightforward job, turned into an aggravating experience, with work quality so abysmal it redefines the term "shoddy." Basic prep work like using plastic sheeting to protect surfaces and contain debris was completely skipped. By end of day 1, the exterior of my house was a disaster zone trashed with paint chips, dust, and debris. Mitch has no intention of cleaning up. As he's getting ready to leave, he asks if I have a broom, smiles, gets in his van and leaves for the weekend. It took hours to clean up the mess that should have been easily disposed of had he been professional and took steps to contain the debris. For two days, he hemmed and hawed about painting a small area that wasn't easily accessible from his ladder. He kept engaging with me to go over options on how to position the ladder so he could reach and paint this area. Finally, he asked me to agree to leave it alone, not paint it, and offered a $250 discount as an incentive. I disagreed. Eventually, he figured out a solution: he wrapped a rope around a window mullion to secure himself from falling off the roof on the other side of the house, breaking a window frame in the process. When I showed him the damaged window, he proceeded to use brute force, somehow managing to jam the frame and the window close shut, dismissively saying "old, garbage window." On day 3, I discovered Mitch perched high on a ladder painting the side of the house with bushes and vines on three trellises that were attached to the siding below. When asked how he planned to paint behind these bushes, he said he'll just move the greenery out of the way. I told him the trellises needed to be taken down, to which he grumbled that it should have been done before he started painting, as if anyone stopped him. After they were removed, there was mildew on the siding, that he said he'll properly clean. When I returned home that afternoon, he had finished painting that side and left in anticipation of coming rain. I noticed that he painted right over the remnants of the climbing vines and threw a filthy mildew stained rag in the planter nearby. He used Behr's paint formulated for metal, claiming it was thicker than their exterior paint, which is not true. Behr's label specifies the paint should not be used if rain was expected the following day. He ignored this warning and painted the wall anyway, even though he knew rain was coming. It rained that evening. The following afternoon, I discovered he used my garden hose to wash out a paint bucket and left the water running full pressure, turning part of my yard into a swamp. When confronted, he first lied about using the hose, then insisted that he shut off the water, then said he'll give me $80 for the wasted water just to shut me up. No apology, just a string of deceit and incompetence. This guy gives "cutting corners" new meaning. Instead of replacing some obviously rotted shingles, as we had agreed, he thought he'd camouflage them, thinking no one would notice. We parted ways after three days of work. Not only did he fail to do his job in a competent manner, he also left an empty gallon of orange juice that he filled with urine and left in my yard. The lack of respect for my property is just another example of outrageous behavior. Avoid this aggravation and find someone else!

For…read morethe past couple years, our family has stared at moss covered, dirty, moldy trampoline on our property which has restricted our children from using it. In just 1 service call, Rich and his team went above and beyond to restore our trampoline to 'like new' and since then our kids haven't jumped off for even a second. The service was booked easily and the work was completed efficiently and in a safe and methodical manner. I will gladly be using PWS for future powerwashing needs.

I do not normally take the time to write reviews and I definitely do not enjoy speaking negatively…read moreabout small businesses. However, the poor quality of work and damage to my property caused by Rich / PWS of Bergen County was so abysmal that I felt the need to share these details with other potential customers. Make your own decisions, of course, but ignore my experience at your own peril. During and after completion of the job, there were a number of issues I raised to Rich. He accepted no responsibility for damage caused to my property, ignored the defects that I noted in his work, and was dismissive when I offered him opportunities to make things right. I am including some specific examples here, along with the attached photos, which speak for themselves. 1) Damaged Wood Front Door - PWS used bleach ("SH" or "Sodium Hypoclorite") under pressure to wash my front wood door. The result was that it stripped off some of the polyurethane finishing. Rich said his crew did not wash the front door - however - I have it on video. His proposed solution was to pay him several hundred dollars more to stain parts of my front door --- no thanks, Rich. I was quoted $3,500 by an actual professional to properly fix this damage, which requires sanding and refinishing two large front doors. 2) Unlevel Pavers - Despite paying over $1,600 to relevel a small section of pavers in front of my garage to direct the flow of water away from my home into a drain, what he instead did was create a new area for water to pool, making the problem even worse than when I started - both functionally and visually. When I raised this to Rich, he blamed me for agreeing to do it that way, which I obviously did not do knowingly, and even if it were a misunderstanding, his aggressively defensive response was unprofessional. His suggestion was to pay him more to fix it.  3) Damaged Hardie Board Siding - My #1 concern before having my home washed was to ensure the siding wouldn't get damaged. I discussed this concern with Rich extensively and he assured me that his process used a mix of safe chemicals and a safe level of pressure to avoid damage. When I pointed out the permanent marks on my siding to him, he said they were shadows from nearby trees and that his crew uses horizontal pressure washing strokes, so it couldn't have been him. Of course, I observed his crew making plenty of vertical strokes with high pressure. 4) Damage to Roof - When cleaning the gutters (part of his home wash package), parts of my roofline were pressure washed without my approval. This left the visual impact of having parts of my roof discolored and also washed off some of the shingle granules. When I raised this to Rich, he told me "The guys are up there on your roof fighting for their lives with pressure washers, what do you expect?" His suggestion to correct the defect was to "rub dirt on the clean part" or pay another $700 to wash parts of my roof. 5) Incorrect Application of Polymeric Sand - I paid extra to have my pavers washed and "resanded" with polymeric sand, which when installed correctly is meant to harden. Days after the work was completed, I pointed out to Rich that there were numerous spots that were either very soft or where the polymer had washed away (leaving just plain old sand). He told me a combination of that's how it was supposed to look and that it would continue to harden, which was obviously not correct. A month later, the sand is already failing and has been washed/blown away in multiple places. 6) Plant Damage - Rich told me that they avoid damage to plants by spraying clean water on them before, during and after the chemical / bleach is applied. However, as you can see in the photos (taken over a month after the work), numerous plants and large areas of grass were permanently destroyed. If you've read this far - thank you. As I mentioned above, I don't take pleasure in causing a small  business to lose customers. However, there were simply too many issues with PWS and lost opportunities by Rich to fix them to ignore. The final straw was when I showed the work to another contractor - they were incredulous about how poor the work was. I suspect that Rich will respond to this review and again deny responsibility. Anyway - potential customers, you've been warned.

This was an incredible transformation from a really horrible kitchen/dining area to a spectacular…read morehigh end gourmet kitchen, dining area. The kitchen wall was removed and a huge beam was installed. All new electrical, plumbing, heating, insulation, tile flooring, cabinets, countertop and windows. The finish work of skim coating, crown molding, and paint was expertly done. Raul Pacheco did all of this step-by-step, with an incredible team of craftsmen. It is important to note that before choosing Raul, we did a lot of research and received proposals from many contractors, some of them MUCH more expensive. In the end we really liked Raul's honesty, temperament, attitude and experience. He was also able to keep this extensive remodel within budget. We are very happy with the results and will be hiring Raul to do another project for us in the next month.

Bryan's painting came in and fixed all of the work that had been done by a previous company. We…read morehad a great deal of water damage and the repair work was very poorly done. The previous company had misplaced pieces if the woodwork, left globs of plaster and paint splattered everywhere and did "repairs" that looked ridiculous and were not completed. Bryan's crew came in as scheduled, replaced the flooring, repainted what had been done poorly and made repairs that looked as though they had always been part of the house. They do wonderful work! Brian is very professional and carefully explains every part of the job to be done. We are already having them come back to complete other work on the house. They are simply the best!
