Zen Yoga offers a variety of classes and excellent instructors. One of my many favorites is Renee Baker's Yoga Basics. The name sounds like it is a class for beginners but actually it is an opportunity to improve and make your practice more interesting and challenging. Each Basics class focuses on a different part of the body; i.e. feet, knees, etc. I had been doing a pose that never really felt exactly right. Renee gave me a tip that aligned my hips, was great in explaining how to get in and out of the pose, and suddenly everthing clicked into place. I keep thinking "If only I had known that sooner."

You would think as a paying customer they would try to accommodate you or at least contact you. There's no way to login to the portal and even get a refund for the class or use the money to take a different class. For anyone who attempts to actually take a class here, keep in mind that the entrance is kind of hidden on Roger's street behind a wall. There's no way to get in from the back of the building.

The studio offers a range of classes throughout the week with varying times, room temperature, equipment, and difficulty level. Bradley's is definitely popular, especially the heated classes which I did not prefer. I tried out a variety of classes included heated and non-heated yoga, aerial yoga, and virtual classes. The morning classes and non-heated yoga were my favorite. The aerial class was exciting and led well. Each of the classes I wanted to try had open spaces and ample equipment was provided. They have a water fountain and bathroom. I do wish they listed the equipment needed/recommended for each class so that I could be more prepared (especially for the virtual classes). The virtual classes are convenient, however, I did not realize I was the only virtual attendee for most of them and sometimes they weren't initiated. Overall, I greatly enjoyed the classes here and would return more often if it was closer to my house/work. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend checking it out!

Which is fine because it's policy but just letting you know in advance that if you need more flexibility around time this may pose as difficult. I had paid for three classes in advance as that is how they had it laid out at the time. They mentioned they would let the manager know to see if theres credit reimbursement but I havent heard anything since. I've only been to beginner classes but the instructors seem ok! Not super advanced but not super new either so would be according to each person's judgement.

The website is easy to navigate and the studio owner, Alicia, is extremely kind to answer questions prior to registration. A few email exchanges along with a follow up and 5 stars on customer focus was appreciated. I opted to begin by jump starting and return to yoga practice on Saturday, then Sunday....next one Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, ... no option Thursday so I will have a rest day, then back Friday and so forth! A real kick starter to get my fitness goals back on track and strengthen my body, mind, heart, and soul. Pura Vida Studio is a lovely, well appointed, and top notch studio in the safety category. Class starts on time and door locked for client safety and security this is pivotal and while some may disagree, fundamental safety protocols are essential. Pura Vida Studio is clean and utilized space well and even offered a tour first day as new client. A sense of positivity in this local community. I enjoyed meeting the owner who set up the room prior to a full class with a motivational card which seems to be spot on and a delightful presentation and experience. The studio is celebrating its 5 year anniversary. It's a one room studio so if you get there too…read moreearly or late the door is locked. I thought the classes were pricey for the area at $16 a class, but they do offer pay what you can community classes. According to their website they designed their studio environmentally green including using only "non-petroleum soy candles". Music is played during class which is nice. The studio has high ceilings and tall windows, but really only comfortably fits about 15 people practicing at once, but they can squeeze in 45 or so with mats 3 inches apart from each other. They have a store in the front with lots of books, dvds, and clothing. With a name like Blue Lotus I was expecting to see a blue wall somewhere or a lotus candle, something that plays on their name in the decor, but I think they were going for a white space with minimal decor. The students that come here are all very friendly and chat with each other.

And now my muscles are making sure I'm acutely aware of those poses. Carrington wasn't afraid to adjust pretty much everyone in her class, and I have to admit her adjustments were just about perfect. The studio is off the beaten path, and parking was sparse. There is only one bathroom and no other changing area, so get there early if you need to change. But the space is perfect for yoga. Not pretentious, but still clean, spacious, and inviting. Definitely check out Blue Lotus, and I highly recommend Carrington's class, especially if you have a decent practice or just want your butt kicked. Your muscles may hate you the next couple of days, but you'll be proud of yourself after that :)

While the program covered key aspects of yoga, the environment was unsupportive and often felt fear-based rather than collaborative or empowering. This made it difficult to build confidence or feel safe making mistakes as a student teacher. Student input was not welcomed throughout the training, and this was reinforced when my question at the end of the 5 months--about how students could share feedback--went unanswered. The program did not reflect the stated commitment to trauma-informed teaching and was not the safe or respectful learning environment I expected. I share this from a place of truth and with the intention of helping others make informed decisions. For these reasons, I cannot recommend Lucky Elephant for yoga teacher training.
