Thank goodness for Minnesota Locksmith!! I was in need of 2 extra keys for different objects. I went to Burggraf's Ace Hardware to have them made. One of the keys they made worked, the other did not. I used the other original key just before leaving home with no problem. The lock opened (as I expected it would). When I returned home I tried the new key and it would NOT open the lock. To my surprise neither would the original! Returning to the store a different employee said the original key looked bent and he tried to straighten it. He informed me he would speak to the store manager and the owner and that perhaps I would have to go to Minnesota Locksmith. I said in order to save a "house call" I would bring the item to the locksmith. The following day, before going to Minnesota Locksmith, I phoned Burggraf's Ace Hardware and was told the manager and owner declined to help me with this matter. I don't hold the young man that made the keys responsible. Mistakes happen. All I know is the key worked when I brought it to the store and now I'm left without the ability to open the lock! Thank goodness for the owner of Minnesota Locksmith. He did everything in his power to help resolve my dilemma - even reaching out to someone else. Terrible phone manners. Rude, impatient, condescending, refuses to answer questions, just laughs and says things like "oh boy."

The gentlemen is a dying breed of professional. He knows his stuff. But that's about it. He works to rushed to accurately give the customer what he needs. In my interaction with him he failed to Listen to what was needed and forced a purchase because he had already cut the key and programmed it. The condition was we would get the key if he had the electric remote to open the doors that he assumed the one on the wall was universal. In the end it wasn't universal and he ended up cutting the key before trying to program the fob then tried Guilt tripping me into a "well I already cut the key so it's the price it is" while the person he attended before was witnessing it all because he came back because his key was cut wrong. Beware with his rushing, that from rushing, things can be done wrong. Horrible client treatment. read more

Daughter contacted them about a malfunctioning car door lock assembly at the suggestion of the car dealership who told her exactly what was wrong. Staff did not listen, were incredibly rude, and told her she needed a whole list of things not related to the problem. It's sad, they used to be my go-to guys for locksmith jobs, I guess not anymore. read more

I have never dealt with a business so rude. Lost our key. Was in a bind. Trying to find out if one could be made. Was put on hold twice, Then was told maybe we should try harder to find they key ? Really? No way to do business if you ask me .I would rather pay a higher price than go to them. read more

I had a great experience with one of locksmith's. A series of very unfortunate events lead me to lose the keys to my car an hour away from Duluth. I was very thankful for the guy's willingness to listen to me blabber, and he even waited around for me to get back to Duluth. They charge ridiculous prices for horrible service and were very unprofessional. We were told on the phone that the service charge to come out would be $35. When he got there he told me it was a $50 service fee. He charged me $50 just to come out and spray some stuff in my lock to open it. The whole thing took less than five minutes. The problem was the lock was slightly rusted on the sides. He didn't clean out the lock at all or do anything other than spray some stuff on the lock. He told me it would work fine and all I needed to do was spray some stuff in there every once in awhile to keep it from drying up. So the next day I go to get in and it won't open again! We called him back assuming he would come change the locks or at least come get it open again, but no. He won't do anything without charging us the service charge again. Keep in mind I am less than ten minutes away from the place. This guy was very rude to us on the phone and said he wouldn't come down unless we paid him more. I will not go through Minnesota Locksmith again. read more
