Given a 4 for lack of follow through. Went for several years. Whole staff pleasant. Serves his patients well, a rarity these days, professional, kind. Got caught in what gadgets, services to make easy money but left out a few steps. Doesn't study aging women's needs like thought he was. Caught him in a few yellow lights that even though I appreciated all done for me, time to drop going there. Example: Visit is for 1 topic, when I got to weight loss, how my pee poops skipped over to promote a daily drink no one had read the ingredients .. was is gluten free. Honest staff and physician just not revealing potential useful information. There are people with a lot of common sense they haven't heard of .. like PBS Judith Wrightman.. not sure I got the last name spelling right. Dr. Amen about brain health are just 2. No mention of how grief support or being prepared is important. Was told he would make an area more male friendly then that didn't happen. He has males that at least accompany the females coming. I was hospitalized, went well, it could've gone better and was not given any reports, clinic notes to make any future hospital experience less upsetting and more pleasant. Having a PCP not mentioned and some of what was promoted there clashed with the common sense at a primary physician visit. There is potential at this clinic to be awesome yet they might forego it for what's easiest and safest financially. What they don't realize is a few tweeks would achieve concerns, be cheaper, turn them into an exceptional, very needed service provider niche. read more

Doctor is great. I followed her for care from Allina. However, billing and business office are very troubling. There seems to be a disconnect with insurance company- Blue Cross- and this clinic. Copays are not correctly billed, turning into a real headache to get it corrected. read more

This place is rife with unethical business practices. I canceled my appointment to see a nurse practioner, yet continue to receive appointment confirmation texts. Their unethical business practice is to keep your appointment scheduled so that their billing office can charge you a high no-show fee of $55 or more. I went in person to the clinic to cancel my appointment and continue to receive appointment reminder confirmation emails and texts. Now, I have to waste more time to go back to the clinic in person to demand that the office manager there delete my profile and show me proof, so that the billing department there won't charge me a no-show fee. I recently went to MN Women's Care. The provider Andrea Brockberg CNP wanted to inject a testosterone pellet in me. After doing further research, I found that this testosterone pellet is not FDA approved and is formulated based on 1/10 of a men's dose. Meaning there is no clinical studies to show that this would be effective nor safe. After speaking to OBGYN's and pharmacists, I came to learn that this could put me at an increased risk of endometrial cancer, obviously a serious side effect that this provider failed to mention. Furthermore, Minnesota women's care set me up for an iron infusion at a local infusion center. I arrived at the infusion center this morning, where the nurse said "didn't your doctor's office let you know that this drug is on shortage?" Zero communication from Minnesota women's care. I had rearranged my work schedule in order to make this infusion happen. I highly do not recommend going to Minnesota women's care. read more

Pregnant with my first baby, I chose this clinic (we went to both the Woodbury and Maplewood clinic). At 11 weeks we lost our baby. Over the weeks we were in their care, every provider we met/saw was so kind, empathetic and knowledgeable. We even received a card in the mail following my miscarriage and D&C. I can't recommend Minnesota Women's Care enough. They truly care and you aren't just a number. We are so grateful to them for making this difficult experience as good as it could be. read more

BEWARE OF THIS CLINIC! This clinic is not patient centric. The team absolutely does not care about patient experience or being transparent and honest with its patients. I went in for a yeast infection and the laboratory service office fee was $414.75 plus a visit with my medical doctor had an office fee of $209. Weeks later I had symptoms again and called the clinic to make an appointment with my doctor. I was advised they had a new self-service option with no appointment with my medical doctor. Instead, I could walk-in to the clinic, self-swab, and only have laboratory charges. What the clinic failed to tell me was the laboratory service fee for self-swab is $3,594.60! For a yeast infection! I have repeatedly called to dispute this and ask for resolution. Today, I was told it was my fault because I didn't ask for the cost and it is a patient's responsibility to ask about fees, if we have cost concerns. Apparently, I should not have assumed the laboratory fee would be reasonably close to my previous charge. I thought I was saving money without a visit with my medical doctor and that the charges would be less expensive by swabbing myself. What patient would choose to self-swab at an office fee of $3,594.60 instead of a medical doctor swab at significantly cheaper at $414.75?!? Even crazier, the only resolution offered to me is to forego my dental insurance (which I pay $1800 a month for a family of five). If I choose to waive my health insurance benefits, then the charge of $3,594.60 suddenly drops to $350 for uninsured. So, for $1800 a month in health insurance premiums, I get the benefits of paying 10x more than if I was uninsured. The clinic does not believe it has any responsibility to disclose fees to patients even when a patient is about to incur laboratory charges for almost $3,600 - that is absurd! We have such a broken healthcare system, especially when clinics like this are not honest and upfront with patients. read more

Be aware this is a business to them. There is no oversight for providers and you will only get what you need if you move elsewhere. My prescriptions have been wrong the whole time and any time I try to get them corrected it is met with pushbacks and demands to come back in ... so I can pay them again for conversations we've already have. They couldn't even order my mammogram follow up on time and there were three lumps in my breast that needed to be re-checked. They do not care about you as the patient, its a business, they want to make money. read more

I've gone to this clinic for over a decade and loved the care I received. However, they have been using heavily fragranced laundry detergent and it give me a horrible headache, so I can no longer go there. The worst part was how invalidated I felt when I brought up my concern. Most doctors offices use unscented products so not to offend/or make sick the 30% of the population that gets really ill from it. I realize that some people really like scented products, but for those of use with fragrance sensitivities, we can't be around it. A special thank you to Dr. Shawn Johnson and the rest of the staff that we were able to be helped by throughout our first baby's maternal appointments within the last year. We were always treated with respect and cared for. Everyone was consistently genuinely friendly and it felt like they enjoyed their work. At times it was like talking to a family member-the excitement that they would have for our pregnancy/baby. I wish I remembered one of the ultrasound technician's name that performed our second ultrasound because she was absolutely a joy and enhanced an already exciting moment for us. From MWC's team, we learned a lot of medical information that was new to us as first-time parents. Being educated by them aided in a very comfortable and well-informed pregnancy experience from start to finish. When it came to certain procedures, tests, vaccinations, etc. we were given the information in a professional manner and given the choice to go through with them or not. This was very comforting and allowed us to build trust with everyone, especially Dr. Shawn Johnson. We especially preferred Dr. Shawn Johnson as she made us feel very comfortable and confident in every step-even with the last appointments leading up to giving birth. I felt empowered to have a successful birth every time I would leave her presence. Some of our favorite qualities about her is that she is a true professional, she is down-to-earth, friendly, and works efficiently. I have been going to see Rachel Snell over the past six months or so to work on hormone balancing in perimenopause. The facility is clean, I don't have a hard time getting appointments. I like the portal. And Rachel Snell explains things well, and makes common sense recommendations. I was able to get a mammogram same day without an appointment. I had my annual exam with Rachel. It took a month to get in. I had many concerns plus needed blood drawn for hormone replacement. There was a woman studying to be a dr who asked to come in. I said no. She came in anyway. I said I'm private and don't want her watching. Pretty soon she was looking and guessing about my concerns with my Dr. I was upset. I forgot all the concerns I waited to ask. It was a terrible experience for me. Especially when I waited so long to ask many of my concerns. They forgot to have my blood taken so it disrupted their procedures also. Now I have to make another appointment for blood drawn. When I say I don't want a someone in a room examining or looking, my wishes should be respected!! I'm so upset by the whole thing even two days later. Now I didn't get my questions answered after waiting to be seen. Plus forgetting to have blood drawn is pretty bad. I don't know if I'll ever go there for my annual exam again. It was too fast also. Transferring elsewhere. My care was so/so at MN Women's Care- nothing out of the ordinary. But getting records from them- next to impossible. I had them send all my records to my primary at HCMC and when she pulled them all up in their MyChart system, they were all blank. So I called back and asked why all my records weren't available to ME in MN Womens Care's Healow app (only some of them were available). I specifically needed the pelvic ultrasound results and those were NOT available. I called and asked if they could upload those results to the app- they said no. I asked if they could email the results to me and they said not without me signing a "Release of Information form" TO MYSELF! I asked the receptionist if she could at least read me the results of my ultrasound over the phone and she said she wasn't allowed to, that I had to sign the release of information form so that I, the patient, could have access to my own medical records. Super crappy. Never going back. read more

I have been going to Minnesota Women's Worx (a co-existing entity of MN Women's Care) in Maplewood since September 2022 to help strengthen my pelvic floor. In January 2023, this location became an all-inclusive health facility. They offer fitness classes included with a monthly membership, in addition to pelvic floor PT. I also have the opportunity to work with a personal trainer to supplement my PT and consult a dietitian as perks of my membership. There is also a spa and a chiropractor which provide services which I have not tried as of yet. Last week, one of the exercises aggravated one of my knees which had been bothering me all day long for a few days, especially when I was sleeping. Alex, my trainer, told Lindsey, my PT, about the problem. Lindsey worked on my knee for part of my PT session after I explained exactly what I was experiencing. Man! What a difference! For the first night in a week, I was able to sleep with no knee pain!!! I highly recommend MN Women's Worx. I have also had intermittent success with the strengthening of my pelvic floor, which is improving week by week. So very close to saying goodbye to the Depends I have been using for the past five years. Thank you, Women's Work!!!! read more

This is the place to be for Top notch Womens health care. The staff is amazing and truly care about your needs and concerns. Having had the pleasure of working with all the core staff during my pregnancy I must say that it was the best experience I could have hoped for. Now I am still enjoying the clinic as I move forward with other more innovative health care topics, such as vaginal rejuvenation and overall Womens sexual health and education. I would say this is the place to be to feel like you can be open with your provider and feel comfortable in doing so. Horrible service!! I could never get straight answers and was told my tests results would be available when they were not. I am now trying to transfer my care, but they will not send my information to my new care provider. I even had to go in to hand them my release of information form because they gave me a wrong email address and it is very hard to get anyone to answer the phone. It has been a week! When one of their nurses said it should only take up to 48 hours for my transcripts to be transferred. I'm tired of the misinformation and looking forward to leaving, if they ever send my transcripts. I can not be seen by the new provider until these are sent to them. read more

Patient for women's care for many years. This is a for-profit company owned by the founding doctor, and it reflects on the health care. They will not prescribe needed medications unless you submit to annual mammograms. Because mammograms are carcinogenic, they are only to be given a maximum of every two years, unless there are special circumstances. This is the current U.S. guidelines, and many experts feel that they cause more harm than good. MWC has a 3-D mammogram machine, which emits twice the radiation dose of a 2-D. Also, they will not put test results in chart, no matter how many times they are asked to. A followup appointment is needed to see blood test results, and still they will not be in the chart where they can be seen. This is how they pressure patients to receive unwanted and unneeded mammograms. Reception staff will just say they don't understand why the results are not where they should be. You will receive numerous emails stating you have test results, but no matter how hard you try, you will not get to view them. I went into the portal a dozen times, and the column that is supposed to have the test results is ALWAYS empty. This is a profit first for profit business founded by a man, who is the CEO, Dr. Melvin Ashford. read more

If there's an error with my appointment they are very accommodating and help fix it. I've seen quite a few different doctors, nurse practitioners and midwives for different reasons over the years and everyone has been knowledgeable and helpful with my needs. From care during my pregnancy to the pelvic pain I had after. Everyone was so kind and supportive. Even the girls who roomed me were very sweet. I've recommended this place to everyone who needs it. I had my first visit and everyone was friendly and helpful. Usually when I go to the doctor's I'm waiting 15-20 minutes for the doctor to come to the room. Dr. Waschbucsh was prompt and straightforward with her treatment. I had to have an unexpected ultrasound and they were able to fit me in that morning within 10 minutes. I found Dr. Ashford and MN Women's Clinic out of necessity. I was experiencing horrible menopause symptoms and couldn't find relief anywhere. My regular doctor told me "Well, that's just the way it goes. Could last up to 10 years..." and when I told her I wasn't sleeping more than a couple hours per night she gave me an RX for Ambien with a strict warning of addiction. I couldn't imagine that the next 10 years of my life would be like this - no sleep, no libido, weight gain, night sweats/hot flashes. Dr. Ashford was the first doctor to tell me that I wasn't crazy - my levels were way too low for a woman my age (44). I nearly cried with relief that someone could actually do something for me! I had my first SottoPelle injection on this date - and about 5 days later I started feeling better, sleeping, hot flashes stopped...and within 10 days all my other symptoms ceased as well. I've since been back to MN Women's care and have seen other providers in his office for subsequent injections, and I have had great experiences with all of them. I refer all my friends to him and this office as well. I feel like I've lived a miracle! read more

I have had incredible results working with Dr. Ashford and his staff. Before meeting with him I had been dealing with severe pelvic pain for over two years because of a condition called vulvodynia. Most doctors, even specialists, did not know how to reduce my pain level. I had tried many therapies and nothing had worked until I met Dr. Ashford. He was the first person who really understood the complications of this condition and even the differing origins of pain that can cause vulvodynia. He was the first doctor who identified the cause of my pain, and after a few months working with him and his therapy and medication treatment I have seen a dramatic improvement with my symptoms. I had nearly given up on the idea of being pelvic pain-free and now I feel confident that I will continue to improve. I do not recommend this clinic I have endometriosis I felt my doctor at a different clinic wasn't helpful but when I came here it was worse. The doctor told me the other doctor lied to me but said exactly the same information when she asked if I had a Pap smear or manogram before I said no but I'll do a different appointment for that the doctor told me she didn't have time for one any way and wants to do a new patient exam but then I get a notification for a Pap smear from my insurance. The doctor told me if I don't go on birth control I'll get ovarian cancer within 2 months. My sister recommended me to the doctor but her experience and mine were completely different the doctor wouldn't even let me explain why I was coming in 0/10 read more

Went to the Women's care center since I found I was pregnant, at the beginning everyone was great. Later the appointments started failing, the technicians didn't show up for the ultrasounds and then no one tells me that the ultrasound I missed was the one where they take the measurements for spina bifida and other things. As they did not gave me this information I missed the window in which this could be done. according to them they left voicemails informing me about the absence of the technician absence before my appointment ( never received an voicemail or missed called from there with anything) and My appointments were usually about 15 minutes after they opened. So there was no time to rearrange. Overall the experience with them was awful. their scheduling people have 0 touch and they should know better when scheduling different procedures. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I went to Dr. Ashford for a labia majora and labia minora plasty, to reduce both. He was confident he could give me the results I wanted. The surgery seemed to go okay but as I began to heal, I was immediately not happy with results. He reduced the labia minora but the labia majora (outer labia) looked exactly the same. At the follow up, I told him I wasn't happy with the results and he told me that he only did a partial majora plasty instead of the full majora plasty, despite the fact that I payed for the full. When I tried to explain my concerns including excess skin and a wrinkly appearance (which is what he was supposed to correct during surgery), he literally told me, "it looks like the skin of a 40 or 50 year old who's been sun bathing naked for 20 years." So not only did I not receive the results or even the procedure that I paid for, but he also insulted me. Then he told me to get the results I wanted, I'd have to pay another $3000. I felt completely robbed and have never had lower self esteem. I would never recommend him to anyone under any circumstance. read more

I saw Lindsay Nelson, Dr. Rice and Ilana Farb during my pregnancy at MN Women's Care. All three of them truly made feel cared for and comfortable during my pregnancy experience. Especially with this being my first pregnancy and it being during covid (not being able to have my husband at my appointments with me.) I felt at home every time I stepped foot in the clinic. I couldn't have asked for a better care team. The front desk staff, nursing staff and ultrasound techs are professional, kind and made me feel comfortable as well. Terrible scheduling. This is the second time that my daughter's appointment had been confirmed to be in Maplewood, she showed up in Maplewood and the appointment was actually in Woodbury, so it had to be rescheduled. She has a voicemail to prove that she was supposed to go to Maplewood! Ridiculous. The technician performing procedures is good, but the scheduling is absolutely atrocious. If you want to delay and delay and delay your procedures, go to this place, if you want to actually get your procedures done, I would recommend you look someplace else. read more

MN Women's Care had been recommended to me by a friend for health issues that I had been struggling to find an answer to for over a year. I was able to be seen quickly, even as a new patient. The Doctor is fantastic. She listened to me and together we can up with a plan to managed my individual health care needs. The administrative staff and nurses are amazing & efficient. Dr. Ashford didn't listen to a word I said. He clearly hadn't even looked at the notes of my initial consultation with a nurse (with Rachel Snell, who was excellent). He constructed a story of why I was having pain that made no sense with my actual symptoms and timeline and ignored me when I pointed that out. He did a brief external examination (when the nurse specifically recommended internal) and a biopsy. When I came back to see the results, he said I definitely had a chronic and life-long condition. I asked for and was given a copy of the biopsy results and they did NOT say I had that condition but that there were merely possible signs of it. I left angry and embarrassed that I had been ignored and misled by someone who was supposed to be the best. I would never go back. read more

For the fourth time out of five scheduled appointments, I just received an early morning call from the Maplewood clinic to tell me once again my appointment for laser hair removal has been cancelled and I need to reschedule it. It takes weeks to reschedule unless you are willing to go to the Woodbury Clinic. I made the mistake of choosing that option once and had the worse treatment procedure ever. The technician needed to invest into a pair of glasses for as many dark hairs that she missed. That being said, bewteen equipment breaking down and the technician being ill frequently at Maplewood, I have just wasted my money on the laser treatment. The gaps between procedures has resulted in no noticeable change now in the treated areas. When the technician is present she does an excellent job. However, the continued absences have now made the whole procedure a waste of my money and time (and aggravation.) KO read more
