I have been going to this clinic for years. I see Dr. Allman, he is patient & caring. I find all of the staff that I have dealt with to be very patient focused. I have had therapy with a nurse practitioner who was also very knowledgeable & friendly. For all the whiney first time pregnant Moms who have bad reviews out here, lighten up. OB doctors get called to the hospital frequently to check on a patient or deliver a baby. They might have taken extra time with a woman who has just gotten so really bad news. Give them some leeway, the next time you might be the patient who really needs some extra time with the doctor and it I'll make you will feel so good when you get that extra time. read more

Terrible. I started letrozole and a trigger shot to become pregnant. I went for an ultrasound and saw two cysts where the eggs were. I waited online, staring at a screen for an hour, for Andrea Petersen to call me on the phone. She did not apologize for my waiting; she was a condescending b, acting like her time was more precious than mine, and was more than happy to tell me I had to wait to try again to become pregnant. read more

Gentlemen, avert your eyes. ******** OK, now that's it's just us girls, this all-too personal review may begin. My regular P.A. referred me here and it was pretty awesome. I came in to get my IUD replaced, something I'm convinced is one of the most painful things that can happen to your lady-parts aside from giving birth. Despite the abhorrent pain that comes with this procedure, Dr. Knoedler was so great (even as I dropped F-bombs left and right). She's a no-nonsense kind of person, so before we started, she laid out all the facts and her personal recommendations for me (someone who doesn't do well on the pill). I've done lots of my own research and I think she and I are on the same page about birth control. I liked that and trusted her advice. I had an ultra-sound done to make sure everything else was A-OK down there and the ultra-sound tech was also very nice. Wish I could remember her name right now, but I would imagine she would be a great person to have in the room while you're seeing your baby for the first time too. The office seems pretty new, only a little schmancy. The waiting area is small, but it wasn't too busy when I was there. Also, it was all women (at least that day), so I felt totally comfortable even when I was wrapped up in my paper gown and walking through the hall. I still kind of hate that I choose to cart myself off to Woodbury to go to the doctor, but I guess that's not going to stop any time soon. Well done, Metro OBGYN. read more

Great OB but not so great customer service from front desk and scheduling dept. I had severe mastitis and had called to schedule an appt for the soonest time possible. I was told that my appt was set for the following day. It was also confirmed. Being a FTM I had to rush out in the AM and find a babysitter just to get there and was told I was on the schedule for the next day. Without even trying the front desk person said that there's nothing she can do. Yes, I was frustrated and had told her "So if things get worse I'll just end up in the ER then..." She simply said yes. I don't know how they work there but at the clinic I work at, we work with the patients. Especially if it was our own doing. There also has been many times when I don't receive calls in regards to my test results. Even when they are important. That may need to be discussed along their team as well. read more

I had to wait 40 minutes just to get a blood lab done that only took 2 minutes. This is not the first time I had to wait 40 minutes - 1 hour to get blood drawn. I understand the wait if I was seeing a doctor but it's ridiculous to wait that long for a blood lab appointment. read more

I found myself regularly waiting for 30-50 min to see the OB for less than 10 min, even if my appointment was in the beginning of the day. Once after 30 min I asked the receptionist how much longer the wait would be and she told me that 30 min isn't even a long time to be waiting. I began to feel like they do not respect the patient's time since they do not take any action to correct always running behind schedule. I have only been dealing with them for 2 months for my first pregnancy. My first prenatal appointment was not that bad, though they had a mixup in understanding what their process was. With that said, the nurse was so scared of covid that she wouldn't let my husband and I remove our masks which meant we will never get that opportunity back to see our expressions when we first got to see our very first baby girl on the ultrasound...so disrespectful. That is a moment we will never ever get back. My second appointment has put me in the most foul mood. My doctor was late and we didn't know why. Apparently the front desk staff was supposed to inform us that she got pulled away for an emergency delivery but never informed us. Instead I remember hearing them gossip the whole time. So we sat waiting for half an hour in the middle of the day, both my husband and I work full time and can't just sit around all day. When we got in, they informed me that this was only going to be a physical (would have been nice to know that ahead of time but no one tells you what to expect). So both my husband and I were disappointed because our understanding was that there would be another ultrasound. When the doctor did finally arrive and have me change, she barely gave me enough time, walking in when I was half dressed. During my exam, she was very short and blunt, very poor bedside manner but hey I guess if your daddy is an OBGYN in the same practice it doesn't matter right. There was an intern with her whom she never introduced and didn't really allow me to confirm if that was ok or not. When she went to listen to the baby's heart, there was nothing there and I started crying. I was already very stressed by that point but this is my first pregnancy and that's not a comforting thing to hear. Instead she gave me a look like I was crazy and told me "oh that's perfectly normal". Well not for me, I don't know what to expect. Ultimately this resulted in having an ultrasound anyway and everything was fine. But then I needed to get extra blood work done for an autoimmune disease I have and I sat waiting for another 15 minutes before the nurses remembered they were supposed to do that. One week later I call them to make sure those lab results were sent to my endocrinologist and after speaking with 3 different people, leaving a message with health records (which never called me back despite saying they check the voicemail every hour) a nurse informed me the results were sent that morning and that no it's not their policy to post the results in the portal but after my adamant request she said they would be. I had an appointment with my endocronlogist the following day and come to find out she does not have the results, they were never sent. I also check the online portal and the results were never posted for me either. I tried to call the office again but ended up getting routed to the health records department which again did not pick up so I left them a second voicemail. I tried to call the nurse triage but their office conveniently closes at 4:30pm so now I have to wait another day. I am at a loss for words for just the incredibly poor care and disrespect that I've experienced and I'm positive others have had worse, which is sad to say. I am so glad we are moving in a few months so I don't have a need to stay with Metro Obgyn. I would never recommend this practice if you have a choice. Dispicable. read more

The WORST experiences in 20 years. Absolutely wretched. Always over 40 minutes for every appointment. They don't have computers in the rooms....they never new history or anything. Every appointment was like the first one for them. Really unprofessional. If they just like delivering babies, then they should just do that. Staff is really nice and informative. However they consistently run behind not just 15-30 minutes. But, 45 minutes to an hour or more. They should tell people that when they schedule appointments. My first appointment took over three hours, and wasn't anything too complicated. This last time my appointment was at 1145am I didn't get to the back until 1225. During this time I also had to listen to the receptionist on her personal call at the front desk as well. Which is just unprofessional. Schedule less appointments. It's like my money is important but my time and job that are paying for this appointment is not??? It's just rude! I ended up leaving the office at 1p. After 5 minutes with the doctor telling me what his nurse called and told me on the phone. I also arrived 15 minutes earlier than my appointment. Per their request!!!! Very frustrating ! read more

Not a bad place. They consistently ran 30 minutes to an hour behind schedule! (First sign) The Dr. Less was your typical know it all DR. He over talks and knows everything. Period. We talked about surgery for my fibroids. We agreed that was the way to to. Great right? He told me to wait a call from the surgery scheduler. I waited 30 days no call. (Second sign). I finally call on day 40. The nice nurse said he never sent over the paperwork for her to call. NICE. Scheduled the surgery with her. Great again right? WRONG. Went in for the preop consultation. 3 days before my surgery the nurse called to tell me Dr. Less cancelled my surgery because of an underlying condition. I would expect a decent and concerned Dr. to call his patient and inform her of the cancellation AND offer other alternatives to surgery. NOPE. I must say the NURSES are thorough and NICE. There were signs from the beginning. From the 45 minute wait when I had an appointment. My appointment was at the Exchange location down in St. Paul. I am fortunate that i have excellent insurance and can easily find another provider. I feel bad for the women who don't read more

Dr. Thomas Grand removed endometriosis and my fallopian tube due to pelvic inflammatory disease. Dr. Grand was recommended to me by my primary care at U of MN. Dr. Grand is close to retirement age and is unfamiliar with many of the new ways of handling PCOS, Endometriosis, PMDD and PID. I asked him many questions because I'm one of those patients with allergies to medications, in addition to already had too many surgeries for a 30 yr old with no history of pregnancy. The wait times are ridiculous. Im talking 2 to 3 hour wait times. . I healed up pretty well from the surgery but I needed someone who keeps up with medical information. read more

I am in the service industry so I understand when people make mistakes but .... HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!! DO NOT GO TO METRO OBGYN IN WOODBURY. For the amount off money we pay for this care i have never been so disappointed. They schedule appointments and reschedule you for days that are inconvenient for you. When I get there I wait for an hour or more in the lobby even though they are the ones scheduling around their own schedules. Finally I get into the appointment and they DO NOT explain a single thing to me and make me feel like i am such a hassle to their day. the longest appointment I have had with them is maybe 20 minutes and they are pushing me out the door. I've been going to Metro OB/GYN for the last 8 years now. Dr. Thomas Grande was recommended to me by a midwife when I first moved back to the TC. As a previous reviewer mentioned, Dr. Grande is close to retirement age. His calmness and knowledge is a direct result of his many years of experience. He has always provided me with the information I need; has always answered my questions thoroughly; and has always made me feel comfortable and well cared for. He delivered my middle daughter; then managed my pregnancy and delivery of my surrogate pregnancy for my sister; and then delivered my youngest child. Every time he was top notch. Even in emergent situations, he was able to remain calm and keep me calm as if he understood the severity but knew exactly what he was doing. That demeanor only comes with experience. I'm not sure if all of the MDs at Metro special their own patients or if it's just Dr. Grande. But there have been times I've needed to wait awhile as he tends to his other patients in need. The staff have always been helpful when I ask and I've even gone to grab coffee and they've called me to return when he was in his way back. Ive been the other person on the other side when he's left clinic to check in on me; so I've always been happy to wait for him. He's well worth it. read more

I have had my doctor since I was a teenager. I am very picky about providers being most treat you like a number, and not an actual person. My doctor treats me like an actual person. She is a Mother as well so she always has advice for me, and we connect on that level. She listens, is patient, and is understanding. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I have had nothing but great experiences with the doctors, nurses, etc. at Metro OBGYN. My doctor there, Dr. Flynn is so gentle and caring. She genuinely cares about her patients and is so joyful. She also was the one who was there when my son was born. It was the middle of the night and there were complications so my son went to the special needs nursery. She stayed with my husband and me until we could figure out what was going on with him. This organization is top notch. I HIGHLY recommend them! read more

I have been doing laser hair removal at this clinic and over 2/3 of my appointments have gotten cancelled. I understand that things happen but I was not able to reschedule for 2+ months due to lack of staff. at one point it had been 3 months since my last treatment and if you don't get sessions every 6 weeks, the treatments don't work as well and their staff was very apathetic about this. If I didn't purchase sessions in advance I would not be going back here and I would not recommend it read more

The first signs I should've been concerned about were when Dr. Kathryn Grande forgot to call in the prescription I needed and did not follow up on my pain complaints that required further testing. The second issue was being told biopsy results would take a week. The result came in 10 days later after some sort of lab mix up. No one returned my calls asking about the results while I waited for that final call. An apology was issued, which I appreciated, but I will not be going back. read more

It has taken me 8 weeks to be able to write this. I am not even including everything. I could write a novel.I will try to keep this to the point. The nurses are wonderful. I felt very listened to and taken care of by them. I had been seeing Dr. Kathryn Grande for prenatal visits. When I went into labor I ended up with an on-call Doctor, Dr Ron Mjanger. He was awful and if I could give him negative stars I would. His bedside manor is terrible. At one point during pushing he yelled at me to "stop yelling". He was talking so quietly most of the time I couldn't understand anything he was saying. At one point he told me to stop pushing, I did, I was begging him to tell me when to start pushing, but he completely ignored me, too busy talking to the resident. Dr. Mjanger was having a hard time getting my placenta out. I remember with my first born, the Doctor I had at the time massaged my uterus to help it move down, Dr Mjanger never did this. I heard him tell the resident not to pull the placenta cord. Dr Mjanger told me he didn't want to-have-to take me to the OR to get it out. He told me he'd have to reach in and pull it out, which is what he did. I lost a lot of blood. Fast forward a couple days later, I am at home. I am feeling horrible. Shaking uncontrollably, feeling very weak, high blood pressure, etc. I ended up in the ER with these symptoms because they were getting worse each hour. That visit led me to make an appointment at Metro with Dr. Thomas Grande. He was incredibly kind and my encounter with him was great. That visit led to figuring out that I had a very low hemoglobin and some of the placenta was still attached with blood flowing to it. Dr. Grande suggested a blood transfusion and D&C. He was going on vacation the next day, so I was scheduled to have this with Dr. Kevin Hallman. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hallman. At one of my visits, the nurse actually told me she was sorry I had Dr. Mjanger. She said she has worked with him for 15 years and while he is a great surgeon he is horrible with OBGYN. She said he has ruined MANY delivery experiences. The Metro OBGYN offices are not convenient to my home, but I did not mind because of how much I liked Dr. Hallman and the nurses. They run late a lot, but again I did not mind. What I do mind is being forgotten. This office has forgotten me twice. The first time I finally went up and asked how much longer and the receptionist completely forgot I had checked in. I received apologies from the ultrasound tech, the nurses, the doctor, etc. The second time I had a feeling she forgot me again, so I went up to the desk and was told she would see how long Dr. Hallman was running behind. She came back and said it would be another 30 minutes (I had already been there 40 minutes). I walked out and will not be making an appointment there again. I know she forgot me because there was someone in the waiting room on the phone talking about her appointment that was scheduled 15 minutes after mine with Dr. Hallman, and she was called up ahead of me. read more

I had been going to Metro for nearly two years when I was trying to get pregnant. The RN who I repeatedly saw had horrible bedside manner, and on one occasion walked into my room after an ultrasound, and said "Well, you're never getting pregnant." As if this wasn't enough, they completely ignored my requests into looking into my endometriosis. After switching to a new clinic, the doctor there told me that from one ultrasound he not only could see my endometriosis but also polyps and fibroids. After a year of ultrasounds at Metro, they could not see this?! After having surgery from the doctor who found my endometriosis, I am now pregnant. I wish more than anything I could get those two years back I spent at Metro. read more

I had a job change in November which necessitated me to go on my husband's insurance. I had been seeing metro ob gyn for my pregnancy since june. They deliver only at health east and allina. I talked to my dr. about it in november when I knew what was going to happen. Since I was so far along in pregnancy changing Dr's was not recommended so per her advice we called to see if they would accommodate. Allina was no longer in network on husband's insurance and healtheast would be in network as of 1/1 but if anything happened earlier their delivery locations would not be in network. So we called to see what options we had and if because of later term of pregnancy they could accommodate. His insurance was adamant that they couldn't consider it in network before but could go forward with delivery their if it occurred pre 1/1 and appeal afterwards. For obvious reasons we would not do that because we can't just shell out 10K+ in cost especially when we have insurance..so I did end up going into labor early on 12/23 and had to go to M health Fairview (our emergency location we planned for). In labor it took staff multiple hours (they were diligently calling because I appeared in full labor) to get a hold of anyone and some tests that I had had and vaccine information reviewed during the course of my time with metro had never been documented so there were holes that even other Dr.s at Metro once they got a hold of someone couldn't verify and fairview did a great job to proceed w/o that information and took care of the baby but again metro had gaps in what was documented - which is insane. They also did not have my records posted to shared medical history site that hospitals can access. So I was in full labor for 5 hours w/o anything because they couldn't get a hold of anyone. Then when I called after I delivered to explain the nurse practitioner followed up with me. Since the receptionist who relayed my message and cut me off explaining and asked for minimum details which was relayed, they didn't know what was going on. I explained and they had additional test results from the week before they wanted to relay. They gave me and then they told me to just follow up with my 6 week visit with my family practice dr and not them. I told them my family practice Dr was no longer in network either so i would have to find one. They said they would send me a piece of paper with that family practice clinics they've worked with. A 6 week post partum is a check included with the 9 months pregnancy checks. I then received an EOB from my previous insurance because all of December visits were processed under old insurance even though i gave them my new insurance. I called and that person was also incredibly rude. She cut me off and asked me for additional information then said they'd reprocess and that was that. I do not recommend this clinic. There were definite issues with accessing/documenting information and then when an emergency came up for me that necessitated I go somewhere else for labor - closer and in network - they washed their hands of me and told me to follow up with someone else.... This was after seeing them into my ninth month of pregnancy. Also the one time I too tried their "24 hour" hotline earlier in my pregnancy no one ever called me back... That was the first red flag. read more

I waited a MONTH to get in at the St Paul location on Exchange street, with no ability to get in for cancelations ("We don't do that.") and then at my appt, being on time, the Dr. is called away for an emergency -- ok, I get that. But there is NO ONE else to see there, they are completely unable to handle patients whent hsi happens, no nure practitioners there, o other people to fill in...really? "Will we get to re-book sooner because of this cancellation?" "No." Okay, goodbye. I will not be coming back. I don't think anyone should run their clinic this way, or patients have to put up with this inept managment. read more

Very mixed bag with this practice. We've been to multiple locations: very often running late, and very uneven experience w staff. Some could not have been more caring during a really hard time for us...others couldn't be arsed to listen to what we were saying and answer the questions we had. Asked a specific question about medication use during pregnancy, and the nurse practitioner rudely cut us off, and then proceeded to tell us something that wasn't accurate. So while we've gotten some very talented and compassionate care, I just can't reccomend this group. read more

They are consistently late and have a terrible call service that prevents you from talking one on one with anyone if you have a question. All you can do is leave a message and wait for them to call you back when they find the time. Not good when you are in a bind or when you are at work and cannot wait by the phone. I decided to go here with my second pregnancy to the Maplewood location. The doctor was okay. The nurse practitioner was a lot better and very helpful. The thing that turned me off about this place is the wait time. On several occasions, I had to wait over an hour before I was seen. I feel like if I can come five minutes early to my appointment to respect their time, they should do the same for me. I also e-mailed their clinic three times regarding the wait time issue and I didn't hear anything back from them. I'm guessing I'm not the first person they've heard from regarding this problem. First medical practitioner I went to to get help with infertility testing. I went to the Maplewood location. The process was complex, hurried and lacking compassion. I had to call to get results of the many expensive and complex tests (but the bills sure showed up on time!!), and at the end of it all, they offered no treatment plan or support. After $2k out of pocket after insurance, I could not be more disappointed. Don't waste your time, money or emotions with this group. They seem more interested in collecting payments than helping people. read more

Read the reviews about their staffing and scheduling problems. Way too many patients, and they simply can't handle the capacity. My wife is in her third trimester and has actually only seen her doctor once...for 5 minutes. Other than that, she's seen PAs and nurse practitioners, both of whom had questionable medical recommendations. The PA and receptionist were disclosing PHI to my wife in the waiting room, which was embarrassing. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Appointment staff and receptionist were very pleasant.. I cannot tell you moare than that. i sat in the waiting room for ONE HOUR and never saw the Dr. that I had an appt with. I had to leave, since I too, have a life and never in my wildest dreams did i think that showing up for a 2:30 appt would net me an of waiting. I was hesitant to write a negative review for this practice because I only really had bad experiences with the PA and Dr. Flynn but I know reviews played a role in why I decided to choose this practice so I wanted to share my experience. Dr. Flynn seems to be a very caring provider but her schedule seems to full and I during my pre-natal appointments I kept having to reintroduce myself and remind her of my history. 10 of my pre-natal appointments were cancelled (sometimes without notice) or rescheduled and when I was able to keep my appointment the wait times were long and unpredictable (10-45min). Dr. Flynn often seemed rushed during my appointments and when I saw the PA her advice was very different that what Dr. Flynn recommended. I had a wonderful and very healthy routine pregnancy but a horrible birth experience. From the very beginning I advocated for a natural birth but due to scare tactics and unnecessary medical interventions ended up having a traumatic emergency C-section. I truly believe if I would have chosen a different provider who was not focused on medical interventions and surgery I could have avoided a C-section. If you are a having a low risk pregnancy or looking for a place that supports natural birth I would recommend you look somewhere else. read more

On 7/13/15 my daughters 1st visit. The receptionist was extremely rude to both of my adult daughters, the Metro driver and my daughter's PCA. She violated the HIPPA law by calling my daughter's home and talking to the PCA and discriminated my daughter treated like she didn't understand or lack in cognitive skills. The receptionist assumed that my 38 yr. daughter needed someone to look after her because she was in a wheelchair. Told the driver he couldn't leave because she can't watch her. Of course, the driver had to call his boss because he wasn't able to complete his route. Then was her sister arrived about 5 minutes later the receptionist was rude to her. The receptionist did not ask my daughter if she needed assistance, understood, if someone was meeting her, nor if she could call home. The one thing my daughter hates is when someone assumes she doesn't understand just because she's uses a wheelchair. My daughter was so angry that when her sister arrived she said let's get the hell out of here I'll make an appt. for a different clinic. This receptionist needs training not firing because that wouldn't teach or help The medical staff maybe great, but we don't know. We couldn't get pass the pitbul who used words like I can't watch her, I don't know her medical condition, and what something happens to her. Not once did she even try to talk to my daughter who is in a wheelchair. She didn't even know if she could or couldn't talk. This was at the Maplewood location. I went to Metro obgyn because I have a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome. I had an iud inserted and experienced pain and discomfort after the procedure. I went in and the first appointment they wrote the wrong day on my appointment card and I missed it. The second appointment I had the doctor had to leave for a birth and the third appointment I had after I was furious with them they were closing when I got there. I was so frustrated and I called the administrator which is what the office manager said I had to do and to no avail, I must have called over ten times but they never called me back. I finally had a quick check up telling them something is wrong. I was having so much trouble even functioning. They said I see the strings of the Mirena, it's fine. I said please do an exam I really don't feel so good. I then went to Lakeview hospital in stillwater and the mirena was misplaced an rubbing against my uterus and if left unattended it could puncture and prevent me from having kids, giving me an infection and in some cases death and this is the whole reason why I went through all this....for kids. I sat and cried why people could be so cruel to a person in pain. Dr. Vanessa Knoedler and Dr. Kelley were the drs I saw. They should be ashamed of themselves and so should the administrators. If you can't handle life stop being a dr. If you can, do your job and help people. read more
