They have a beautiful gift shop and all kinds of paintings and pottery etc. for sale. Various kinds of workshops, and they seem to be connected to the Edina Film Festival, which takes place the end of Oct. My personal interest as of late is The Author's Studio workshop, where a guest speaker comes in for an hour in an Actor's Studio on Bravo channel format. Today I saw a screenwriter who is a professor at MCTC. There's a new speaker every 2nd Sat. of the month from 10-11. It's very convenient from the Original Pancake House.

I signed up for the holiday ornament class and had a total blast. There were about 7 of us gathered around this large octagon of a table that was set up with torches, glass, and other tools. The instructors were incredibly friendly and helpful. We spent the first 15-20 working with the glass and getting comfortable before moving onto our project. We got a thorough demonstration and then had the opportunity to create our own piece. I am so happy with how mine turned out and I can't wait to go back for another class. Know before you go: propane first, then oxygen; always keep spinning.

The instructor was very friendly and did a great job helping the group with their work (it's definitely not as easy as it looks). At the end, you get to design two pieces by stenciling/drawing patterns in your pieces and they will keep and glaze your pieces to pick up in a few weeks. I loved my experience and definitely would want to plan a time to come back!

I tried to book a class for myself and 2 other friends. Went on their web site tried to book…read morethrough their calendar. This is not as easy as one would think. I emailed, called & left a message on their number listed for help. I did finally get a returned call, she made it sound like I could just click on the class listed, it would then go into the cart. I then would be taken to the cart to enter payment. Nope! Did not happen I was brought to a "schedule a booking" so I filled out that until I got to the disclaimer telling me that I had to promise that there would be 6 people in attendance. Well, no, I just want to join the class on their calendar. Sent another email for help! Just told me to sign up through their event calendar. NO ONE TOLD ME YOU CANT SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS IF THE SQUARE IS NOT BLUE! if it's grey you can not sign up! The class on the calendar is not exactly what the class is for. It may be listed for monograms, but WHEN I spoke to them you can do the state, upgrades well....if available. BUT be careful cause the price is higher for the Monogram than the state. When booking the class they did not give me price for doing the state on line, so would have been charged way more! JUST NOT HAPPY WITH THE SITE, THE COMMUNICATION BY PHONE & HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GET A REPLY. For $45/person to pour paint over a board cut out like the state of Minnesota I'd think there would be better service to get my business. I'm afraid to book, what would be the service while your there?

They somehow got all of us proficient and comfortable enough in that short amount of time that we were all able to throw and decorate at least two pieces from just lumps of raw clay. They were calm, very clear with their instructions, supportive, and delightful to be around. I would absolutely recommend this place for beginners. It was a blast.

Wow! What an inspiring place! My friend and I went to a reading with 2 writing fellows and a guest…read morewriter. All three were wildly talented. We were blown away. The Friday night event was FREE and had a Q&A panel at the end. Learned so much about the writing process and how to move through writers block. I'm not a writer but still felt welcomed and enjoyed myself. The event was about 90mins. Afterward we had dinner at Grumpy's- very close by such that we walked there (one block). I needed parking for more than 2hrs and found a nearby lot by Dunn Bros for $4 all night. We will definitely return for the next event!

Artists include a wide range, such as jewelry, print makers, painters, graphic, etc. I've bought several prints from the gallery for around $20-$30. I love to visit Light Grey Art Lab because it gets me inspired!

Over the past year, I've taken several graphic design classes at MCAD and would definitely…read morerecommend them. I've taken intro classes in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as an intermediate course in InDesign. While online resources have made these programs somewhat easy to learn, getting a few days of in person instruction has really taken me further. If you've got a weekend to spare, the two-day workshops are really great!
